Oct 5, 2011I'm going to write a custom multimedia player. It will be embedded into a web-browser and will receive data from a server over SSL connection.
Required functionality is: MPEG4 video and different VoIP audio decoding (e.g. G.711 or G.729) custom controls waveform representation (or just flexible drawing API) I think about Adobe Flash (or Flex). But I know little about this technology. My biggest concern is multimedia decoding.
Can you recommend Adobe Flex or anything else for this project? What pitfalls can I expect on this way?

I usually load the music within the flash movie and play from there, but I would like to build one where if you press play, the music loads and plays streaming on the spot. May 14, 2009Im using the flvplayback to put up a video in my swf. in my swf i also have several buttons. the thing i want to do is when i for example click a button i want to start playing the movie from 5 seconds in it and then stop the movie at for example 10 seconds in it. even if the video is 20 seconds long i want to be able to stop it automatically at 10 seconds in the movie. the start and stop should be controlled from the button..
i know how to start the movie at a specific time but i dont know how to stop it at a specific time.

Feb 23, 2009I need to create a tall background, when the user clicks on a button the background will scroll up and down to the area that the user wants to go to. ( I　attach an image of how that might look like)
The background is divided in to 4 sections, the way i figure to do this, is to have each section be a different part of the timeline- and what Ｉ need to happen is as the user arrives at one of the sections or in that part of the timeline the mc's on that sections start playing and stoping once he/she leaves.
If there is a better way of doing this as well- feel free of telling me- Im use flash about once a year.

Aug 3, 2010I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.

My questions will start with file size.reduce or minimize the size of published SWF files while still maintaining high quality video output? Second, how about this business of preloading.I don't really understand that term but my thinking is that if a large movie could be loading while another, shorter, movie is playing, or a graphic displaying, that this could be useful in my case. Lastly, how about streaming in general. Are there ways to optimally use a given download speed to efficiently stream SWF video?

Oct 19, 2009Currently I've got 2 of the same movie clip. both containing an flvplayback component. One of them has a heavy blur effect, one of them doesn't. The blurred one is the 'reflection' of the other one, but the problem is they don't load at exactly the same time alot of the time. Nov 22, 2011I'd like to play load/play one movie and show text at a specific times. In the Movie there is a scene where a board is shown. I'd like to show some text on the board when it appears. That's why I'd like to how to know when you reached a certain point.
Also about loading the video. I read there a several ways of loading a movie. What would be the best way in your opinion to load it in this situation.
1)Can this be done with the FLVPlayer component or through another way?
2) How to show a text at a specific time. Is there a function that I can use.

It's basically going to be a series of JPEGs which animates between frames. What I need to know is: What is the best size (in pixel dimensions) to go for? How will this be affected by different TV sizes / ratios, such as widescreen vs. normal? We're planning on publishing the Flash movie as a .mov file and then burning this to a DVD. Does that sound a good idea?

Jun 30, 2011I have a flash file where the first frame contains two buttons, one of which takes the user to the second frame, and the other takes them to the third frame. At each of those frames, various text fields and variables can be manipulated via SimpleButtons. Both Frame 2 and Frame 3 have "back" buttons to take them back to Frame 1.
Currently when the user navigates back to Frame 1 for the second time (thus playing it for a third time), my second button appears to no longer exist, and I receive an error. Both buttons on Frame 1 were placed via the Flash IDE. Why is my button popping out of existence, when it did perfectly fine the previous two times? Below is my code for Frame 1. The "back" buttons simple remove event listeners and then call gotoAndStop(1)

May 13, 2010I have a video playing on my page. I want to show and hide some div's when the video reaches a certain point. Lets say hide something on 10th second and show it again on 20th second.I can easily do it in HTML5 with video tag and currentTime attribute but for IE I have to create the same functionality and I think with flash based videos (from YouTube or something like that).Is there a way to detect the current time of a video playing on my website, embeded from YouTube, Metacafe or any other video sharing site?I know I could detect it in flash and make it run some JavaScript function but I don't have flash nor have the skills to do it in AS3.
