Dec 6, 2011

ok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Way To Color Transform Parts Of Animation?

Nov 7, 2009

My situation: I have a looping animation that contains multiple keyframes, and each keyframe contains a movieclip symbol I want to apply a color transformation to through actionscript.When I apply the color transformation once to the symbol, it works the first time around. But when the animation loops and plays again, the color transformation is gone.If I apply the color transformation at every keyframe each time in code, I can only display a few instances of the animation before the FPS suffers. Is there an efficient way to apply a color transformation once and have it stick?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Player Color In Flash Games For Sprite Animation

Apr 27, 2009

We're trying to find the most optimal memory solution to doing Player Color in a flash game for sprite animation. We're using CS3 Action Script 3.0. Basically we're using sprite animation but currently for every player we create a duplicate set of animations with just different color. This is very expensive. Vector graphics tend to slow down performance too much for our games so we need to use bitmaps and would like to stick to that. So for a bitmap the alpha channel really only needs 2 values 0 for transparent 1 for draw the pixel. Is there any way I can use the other 254 values for a player color algorithm. The best we've come up with is to do 1 set of animations & 1 set of color mask animtions. So in total we would have 2 full set of animations for 2-x players. The Color mask seems to need to be 32 bits. So what I have is 2 questions.

1) Is there a way we can make 1 set of bitmap animations but use the 254 other values in the alpha channed to do player color?2) Is ther a way to use a Mask set of animations but only use 8 bit not 32 bit?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create An Analog Clock That Changes Color When Its PM?

Oct 28, 2010

I'm trying to create an analog clock that changes color when its PM. The only thing is that the variable won't update. I made the code a function and put it in a code block that runs every second. To make it clear: The function DOES work, it just doesn't update the variable ampm which means when the clock passes 12, it won't change color. The function only gets the variable once from what I can tell. I traced the variable ampm when the local time was 3 PM but even if I changed the time to 3 AM, the variable didn't change. So it'll change color correctly when the flash file is first run but if the time goes from AM to PM while it's running it will not change color.

Code:
Here is my function code:

function color():void
{
/* AM PM, if hours is greater than 11, that is 12 and 12 is PM */
if (hours<12)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Web App With Animation?

Mar 9, 2009

I'm in a class in which I have to create a web app with animation, etc. The animation part I got after some sweat. I managed to create some buttons with the graphics for the 4 states. When I try to use those button is where I start getting lost. I've reference 3 or 4 books, lynda.com videos, etc. I can follow the code when I see it, but I have no idea what to do. Some seem to set the stop and start in the button, some in a layer with AS3 -

What I have is a background layer with static graphics, another layer with the animation, also static in that the picture changes BOOM each time, no tweening. There's a layer with audio that is lines up with the animation. I can get the audio and animation to play together. I just can't get them both to stop and start when I hit any buttons.

The problem im having is the when the text animates on it tends to stutter and appear jerky whereas I need it to be very smooth.

Ive tried animating the text using basic frame tweening with easing and with various high frame rates.Ive tried various coding methods using tweening classes (both the inherit class within flash and imported 3rd party classes) which seem to improve the animation slightly but still with some random jerkiness.[code]...

Java :: Create A Tic-Tac-Toe Animation?

Jun 16, 2011

I want to create a simple animation of a game so you can see the playout of a game. It should be an animation in which you just see the game Tic-Tac-Toe played. I have the states of the games in a description. So player 1 marks a cell = state 1; player 2 marks a cell = state 2 etc.. I currently have the game parsed in a ruby program; it will be easy to display just one state (like in the image), but how do I create an animation from it? Is there an easy way to do this? I'm open to solutions in every language but it shouldn't take to much time to implement. I want to show such an animation in a presentation.

<state1>
cell(1,1,x).
cell(1,2,o).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create Most Efficient Fullscreen Color-shifting Gradient?

Oct 12, 2009

For a project I'm working on I'm trying to create a Flash file with a constantly color-shifting gradient that fills up the entire browser window. For a better explanation please see the following link:

View the Example

Don't worry about the moving balls, those are just there to challenge the frameRate of the movie, which has a maximum of 60. If you look at the background you can see the gradient effect I'm referring to.

The method I'm currently using to create the gradient animation is a simple shape tween on the Flash timeline that tweens between shapes with different gradient colors. I'm definitely not achieving the performance I want using this technique.

I've also tried creating a static gradient and shifting its color over time using ColorTransform, but this doesn't offer any better performance.

So that's a long-winded way of asking what people think would be a better way to create such a color-shifting gradient while getting better performance? Some examples might be through bitmapData or using PixelBender, but I'm not versed enough in these techniques to know which would get me the best performance.
