Play A Certain Number Of Frames Then Stop-from Anywhere On The Timeline

Jun 10, 2009

Okay, so I've got a happy little movie that shows an atom diagram. Every seven frames shows an electron popping up in the ring around the nucleus. This is all contained in a movie clip. I want a button that when pressed, tells the movie clip with the atom to advance the seven frames ( making an electron pop up ) and then stop. The same button if pressed again, will advance the movie clip an additional seven frames ( thus adding another electron ).

I've looked around quite a bit but haven't found a solution that will work for me. Also, I am working in AS2. (if you're feeling especially helpful, do you also know how to do the same but in reverse? I've found how to play movie clips in reverse, but not for a certain frame interval.)

Actionscript :: Move A Body From VecA To VecB, Instantly, But Properly Affect Other Bodies?

Mar 15, 2012

I'm using the box2dflash library to create a game, and so far I've been using "SetPosition" to instantly move a body from one place to another... the problem is that it obviously skips affecting other bodies when I do this. I have the body set to bullet... now I just need to know how I calculate the force(?) to get the body to the exact coordinates that I need to move it to... preferably after only a single frame.How would I go about doing this in box2d properly?

Actionscript 3 :: Using AS3WavSound To Play WAV - Cannot Stop Instantly

Jan 13, 2012

I'm using the AS3WavSound [URL] class to playback externally loaded wavs. This is working successfully. The library is simple and effective.

After decoding the Wav ByteArray the method the library employs for playback is using the SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA event and then writing the mixed samples to the output stream.

player.addEventListener(SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA, onSamplesCallback);
private function onSamplesCallback( evt : SampleDataEvent ):void
{

[Code]....

My problem is that I need to silence this audio output immediately but whatever method I have tried there is a distinct (1 second approx) delay before the silence takes effect.

As you can see I've attempted to add a boolean to block any samples being written to the output stream but this has had no effect on the delay.

My suspicion is that this is a fundamental part of how the samples are buffered and then written out. Essentially by the time a user action on screen (clicking a mute button) has been called and the _mute boolean is set to true there are already samples waiting to be written to the output that cannot be affected.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making External Sound Files Play Instantly?

Feb 27, 2011

I could create a program for him in flash which would be able to play sounds corresponding to keys on the keyboard, but split in to 3 groups, and only 1 sound from each group can be playing at a time. I don't know that much about as3, and I told him this but said I would try anyway. The first thing I came up with was this:[code]In there, there's nothing to stop the sounds overlapping or looping like in my other solution, also it's obviously a lot less compact, but I sent it to my friend like that to see if it would at least play instantly. The response I got was that, although the lag was noticeably less, it was still present.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Going Back Or Forth A Certain Number Of Frames?

Jan 26, 2012

I'm making a game with health bars in it and I'm trying to have it so that if a character is hit, the bar will go forward a certain number of frames before it eventually hits zero.The thing is, I'm a dunce and I'm not sure how to do this exactly. All I need to know is the going ahead a certain number of frames part.Say on an action I needed a movie clip to go ahead three frames. How would I code that? I thought I could use nextFrame(); while putting a 3 in the parenthesis, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Set Number Of Frames Of MovieClip?

May 3, 2010

Even though I HATE TimeLine based code (despite it being convenient for quick prototypes) I have been dabbing a slight bit in "addFrameScript()"

The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any way to set the number of frames in a MovieClip via code, and Flash doesn't automatically adjust the number of frames based on where "addFrameScript" code is located.

I'm not sure what use it would server, but is it possible to set the number of frames in a MovieClip without using the Flash Professional IDE?

And, as usual, a "No, Andreas. For the n-th time, it is not possible." response is okay.

Buttons: Clicking Mouse Outside To Move Between Frames

I am working on a menu that uses a number of these buttons: [URL]

The button works quite well, except that I would like the sub-menu to close up once the mouse clicks elsewhere on the screen. I have tried to find the Action Script for this but have been unsuccessful. What script can I use to cause the menu to close up when a user clicks outside of the button?

I've posted the fla file below.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating MC With Flag And Move It Over Frames

Sep 29, 2011

I am trying to make an API in which there are 3 screens:
1. User drags items to a blank square(area) and makes a flag in the area with the items-i will call it "the flag" from now on
2. User dresses a puppet-i will call it "the puppet" from now on
3. User can print puppet+the flag(and he can arrange it-over/under the puppet, resize, rotate etc.)

I think all I have to do is create an MC with the flag and then move it over frames, or insert the flag (blank square+components used) to an MC in advance, and by code remove unused items and then "pop" it in the other frame (but then i need it to be the edited one, not the original). I attached the frame. The square is the area and the blue squares are the draggable items. I want to preserve that edit (post drag locations).

Actionscript 3.0 :: Calculate Number Of Frames Between Two Labels?

Mar 10, 2009

I'm trying to create a function that looks at two Frame Labels and calculates the number of frames between them. This is what I've got so far:

Code: Select allfunction convertLabelsToFrames (targetClip:MovieClip, startFrameLabel:String, endFrameLabel:String):int
{
var time:int = targetClip.endFrameLabel.frame - targetClip.startFrameLabel.frame;
return time;
};

The problem I'm having is that you don't seem to be able to find a FrameLabel within a MovieClip in the simple sort of way that I've used above (I know the way I specify here won't work). It does seem, though, like there should be SOME way of finding a FrameLabel within a MovieClip.
