View 1 RepliesIm using flash 8, I always used to import graphics rather than to work with original drawing tools of flash, im studding those tools and I have some questions. is there a way to do mathematic in the parameter like I can do in illustrator (I tried but nothing)?is there any way to repeat and duplicate the last transform? View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble with loading in an external image that I can transform with the Senocular Transform Tool class. I have managed to load in the picture but the transform class doesn't seem want to grab it. Eventually I want to us the FileRef to upload the image but I just need to figure out how it works first. Here my code to load in the external image

The transform class can grab the other movieclips but it doesn't want to grab the new image loaded in from the code above.
I have movie clip with name "MC_ADOBE_IDIOTS" inside armature.In code: i do find this MovieClip and trying to set the color transform.After setting color transform to MovieClip "MC_ADOBE_IDIOTS" armature stops working and becomes static.
View 5 RepliesIf I brought in a sunburst vector into Flash cs5 and made it an editable object, and made it a Movie Clip (lets name this movieclip, sun1_mc) and than made another (lets call this one sun2_mc) the only thing that changes in between these objects is the color. How would i acess the advanced feature through Actionscript 3.0 so that when the user clicks on a button (lets call this button button_btn) it transforms the color color smoothly from one frame to another. I know i could do it old stlye and make a shape tween and than put sun1_mc on frame 1 and sun2_mc on say frame 15 and just put a motion tween between them. But i was just wondering if there is a way to do this via Actionscript 3.0?
View 1 RepliesI am just getting back into using Flash after not using it for about 5 years. I'm having an issue with the simplest thing! I want to be able to type pixel values into the Properties panel to transform/resize an object from the OBJECT CENTER as reference point. If I use the transform tool, it uses the center of the object as the reference. However, if I do as above and type values into the Properties width/height, the object transforms with the top left corner as reference. If I need two or more objects sized exactly the same, or if I want to do a "zoom in" effect, using the transform tool is very ineffecient!
My object seems to be showing that the center is set as the reference point (white circle in center of object). Also, the objects I am working with are jpg's and psd's imported to the library, and made into movie clip symbols.
When I try to rotate using Gradient transform tool, I can't rotate my gradient 45 degrees or 90 degrees. nap to objects is enabled and holding shift also doesn't work.
View 5 RepliesMy Text is visible before rotating it to verticle position using Free Transform Tool. But when once it is rotated to verticle position the text disappears from the Stage. And it is not an animated Text as well?

I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. I've been looking for a JSFL command that might do this, but haven't come across anything even remotely similar to what I'm trying to achieve. Perhaps there is another solution besides JSFL that someone might know of.Question: Is there a way that I can select multiple symbols (either in a single frame or across multiple frames) and apply a scale transform that will adhere to each symbol's registration point?
Scenario:In an animation sequence, a movieclip of a tall rectangle is tweened on the timeline using "classic" tween. There are 20keyframes, where the mc changes position and rotation.In a duplicate of that animation sequence, I want to change the height of all instances of the mc in the animation, but keep the position and rotation. The rectangle should stay a rectangle, only shorter.I go to a keyframe, select the mc, and enter the desired scale percentage for the height in the transform pane. Then I repeat this for the other 19 keyframes. Imagine the pain and suffering I go through when this is done for several sequences!
Ideally,I would want to use the "edit multiple frame" mode in the timeline, select all instances of the mc across all 20 keyframes, and apply the height transform to all mcs via JSFL or dark magic.Flash's default behavior transforms multiple objects as a group,so not only will it squash and shear the different mc instances(creating diamonds),it will also shrink the distances between the different positions(changing the path of the tweens).I'm looking for a way to apply the transform so that each instance scales to their own registration point,preserving their position and respective of their rotation.
This is the most frustrating program ever. No where can I find an answer. I've tried everything I've read on how to change text but I can never get the selection tool to select the text. Some say use the T tool but all that does is create a new white box over top of it to type new text in
The layer isn't locked and the closest I can get is a blue box around the button. Well it's not a button and in the library the icon is a movie clip. Its also in my "bitmaps" folder as and image? (tree icon) Does that matter? I'm begining to think this is a whole image?
Usually when I make a shape I can select it with the selection tool and lots of dots appear on the shape showing that I have selected it. I was playing around with some key commands and I think I accidentally did something now when I select a shape it ha sa thin blue outline. Can someone please describe what this means and how I can change from this to the other option?

I am working on Flash CS5 , and I would like to "lock" any moves or selection on the pixel grid.For example if I am moving with my mouse a square placed at x:10 and y:56 I want to have someting like x:456 and y:78 and NOT x:456,4 and y:78,8Same thing for the selection, it select sometimes half of a pixel or a quarter, and it is very anoying... I am loosing a lot of time to check every element each time I placing, moving or selecting or creating to be sure it is an integer number.

View 3 RepliesI have 6 radio buttons spilt into two groups of 3 and one normal button.The first group of radio buttons correspond to colour and the second to texture.My aim is for the user to be able to chose a colour, then chose a texture by use of the radio buttons, click on the normal button named 'create' which loads a corresponding jpg onto another part of the stage according to the colour & texture selection.I am totally stuck on how to code the buttons so this can happen.I'm sure there is an easy (ish) way for this to happen, but i'm no expert and haven't been able to find it or work it out.I've named each radio button individually, grouped the two sets of radio buttons for colour & texture and named the normal button.

View 3 RepliesI created a rectangle and converted it to a button symbol. I double clicked it to get to the button timeline and added text and varied the rectangle colors for the different hit states. I ran the file and it's doing what I expected.
Now I want to duplicate that button several times where each one has different text on it. But when I change the text in one iof the duplicates, they all change, including the original.
What do I need to do to allow me to change the text? I can change other propertites without althering the other buttons but not the text.
I have created this madly complex menu rollout with buttons, tweens lables with dynamic text- you name it..... now I want to duplicte this symbol and change its colour to make a new menu tab, but when I try to do this (by going into it and duplicating each nested part- I am getting a linkage error- **Warning** The linkage identifier 'Symbol1' was already assigned to the symbol 'Symbol 2', and cannot be assigned to the symbol 'Symbol 1', since linkage identifiers must be unique.
View 2 RepliesMy problem is that when I click the letter movieclip it does create the duplicate as it should and it starts to drag the duplicate mc. However, when I release the clip it doesn't stop dragging? I realized that if I put onMouseUP event instead of onRelease it actually does stop dragging when I release the mouse. I would, however not like to use the onMouseUP event if possible.

i inherited a slideshow type of movie at work and there is one part of the movie that takes up 37 slides (all duplicates). i need to edit the text on them all. can i do this easily or do i have to go through and change them all manually?

I have created a movieclip button which is animated for all the states I need (up, over, out, etc.) it's made up of text, which is in a movie clip where I have my animations created (actions layer with AS3 script, my txt movieclip layer, my hit layer) and then that is inside a movie clip in my main scene.Is it possible to copy that button, so then change the text, Actionscript, instance name, etc?I tried copying the layer (by selecting the frames and copying frames, and pasting to new layer) but when I make any changes, it changes both copies!
View 4 RepliesI am having problems dupliating a movie clip. I can make a duplicate from an original but when I edit the duplicate it also modifies what is in the original. (I am just changing the text, thats the only difference between the 2) How come it effects both clips when I only change one?

I want to duplicate a symbol that contains text, but when I change the text in the duplicate symbol, the original's text changes too. This is really annoying. Is there a way I can "break" this association to the original symbol so the duplicate becomes independent
