I'm using the CS5 version of Flash Pro and Illustrator on a Window box running XP serv. Pk 3.These are the AI Import Preferences:I'm trying to import some text, grayscale with suitable stroke and drop shadow, from a finished Board in Illustrator. I've made PNG's, to allow for a transparent background, at both 300 and 600 ppi. I know these are large, but it doesn't matter too much in this movie. It worked well in the Color version.
When I bring them into Flash there is a distinct difference in the quality of each, of course, but both are jagged when transforming them down to the size needed. The ones at 600ppi are better but there is still a visual distortion due to the jaggedness.
I have a simple rectangle with a 3D-bevel effect built in Illustrator that I need to export as an FXG file for use in Flash. When I export from Illustrator to an FXG format, it creates bitmaps and embeds those in the FXG file.if i import directly into Flash CS5 there are transparent gaps (and the symbols created are very complex), and it warns me that the objects aren't compatible with flash and they should be converted to bitmaps firstIs there a way to export the object to an FXG file and keep it in a vector format?if not, and this may be an Illustrator question, is there a way to create the same kind of effect so that I can get an end FXG object that will work in Flash?
I was curious if there is a way to import Illustrator files seamlessly into flash. My project in Illustrator has a lot of effects like drop shadows
here is what the file looks like: [URL]
so as you can see it is pretty complex. I want to import as much as I can in vector so that it saves on load time since i already built it in vectors. is it possible to import most of it in vector then just rastor the stuff that might not translate like gaussian blur etc?
At work we've been having a particularly irritating issue with svaing flash files in CS5.After making some changes to a flash file, and trying to save it, the flash file simply doesn't commit the changesand keeps the earlier version. We believe we've isolated the issue to importing from illustrator (CS5).It seems if you copy any rasterized images, or vectors with effects on them (such as drop shadows, glows etc)saving starts to have some issues, the saving itself seems to work fine, but reopening the files with often result withflash being reverted to a pervious saved version.I'm not sure what is the exact cause of the issue, but I do think it's certainly linked to illustrator importing.Has anyone else had issues with saving, and it rolling back to previous saves, and is there any way to avoid/fix this issue?
I am having trouble exporting a movie from within flash player into a .eps for importing into Illustrator. I cannot use the native scene items for export within Flash CS3, since the content is dynamically generated when the movie is played, and would need to save the outcome. I am working in Master Suite CS3, so dont want to do anything that involves exporting into Corel or other suites.
I've checked on the web, but I can't find an article/explanation on how to import vector graphics from illustrator into Flash. If this isn't possible, how do you go about dynamically importing it (not in the swf)?
I've created the artwork for my first Flash site as a .ai file, separated into layers that represent each page of the site. I imported the .ai file into Flash - all the layers looked separate in the import dialog box. However, when the file imported to stage, the timeline only contains each page, not the layers within - and I can't twirl open the layers on the timeline. So there are ony four layers on the timeline. In the library, each layer is separated out. Am I supposed to do something else to give each indiviual layer it's own timeline? When I imported the file, I choose to import to 'Flash Layers'
I have been given some Adobe Illustrator files for a project I am working on. Not being familiar with AI, I assume you can copy and paste directly from AI into flash? Are there any do's and dont's I should be aware of?
I've been running Flash CS4 (on a mac) for a few weeks now without any major issues. But the last few times I have attempted to import to the stage from Illustrator CS4, Flash freezes up. It allows me to select the file, gives the appearance of loading then the stage remains blank. Menus pull down but all options are grayed out. How to remedy this?
I've been using Flash for a couple of years now... I use it mostly for designing fashion graphics (!!!). I know that Illustrator is excellent for creating artwork, I export Flash files as AI ones, but encounter numerous errors while opening such files in Illustrator. I think the problem is with the Color settings. Flash uses RGB, and CMYK is Illustrator's default settings. When I try to export a graphic symbol (with layers, groups of objects and simple shapes) from Flash Professional as an AI file, it always exports as Illustrator 6.0 version (wonder why)...
Then I try to open this file in Illustrator CS2 and always get a "BG" error message which is similar to this one: Can't open illustration. The illustration doesn't have the correct number of operands for an operator. Offending operator: "Bg" Contex: Bb 0000 Bh 1.0.0.000819.20.....etc. (lots of figures)...Bg
So after getting such a message and pressing "OK" there are 2 possible results: 1. The program (Illustrator CS2) opens a blank artboard (stage) with absolutely NO objects or symbols on it. 2. The program opens an incomplete graphic on the artboard (stage) with many missing objects and shapes (say, if I exported a graphic with 2 layers, the top layer will be missing).
Unfortunately, these are the most common results....Though a few days ago I hkept several AI files open and tried to export an AI file made in Flash. To my greatest surprise Illustrator could open the file with absolutely everything I exported from Flash! Except for Bitmap fills, of course....But everything else was just perfect! I was amazed no end! What settings should I have in order to be able to open AI files exported from Flash? If I got it once, it means it is possible to open such files... I have to use Illustrator more often now, and I need my artwork to be covered to AI files without significant modifications or corrections... Is it doable?
So I was wondering does it cost extra memory when I import vector art stuff from Illustrator (CS5) to Flash (CS5) rather than making the shapes in Flash? Maybe Illustrator sends some meta data as well when importing so it may use more memory.
I am importing a picture in flash and i found out that there is a difference between importing to the stage, and importing to the library... [URL] I've placed both picture close of each other and if you look closely, you'll notice that one of them is losing some resolution. Both picture come from the same file, a png. The picture imported to the stage is sharper than the one imported to the library. is there a way to import that picture to the library without losing any resolution?
On the Mac, everything works fine. I load a .swf into an ADM Flash Player Item in the Illustrator SDK and the .swf pulls some information from an options.xml file on local machine to create the UI.On Windows the .swf seemingly won't load info from other files on the computer. I can get the .swf to load inside the ADM Flash Player Item, but it seems like it can't access the options.xml file. When I run the .swf OUTSIDE of the illustrator container, everything works as it is supposed toI thought it might be a security/permissions issue, but wouldn't that come into play even when it's run outside of illustrator
I upgraded from Flash CS3 to CS5. I am surprised to find I cannot export Flash graphics to a ".ai" format. Does anyone know of a way in CS5 to get Flash vectors to Illustrator?
I'm itching to find the most effective way of importing my illustrator vectors into flash but keeping the file size as small as possible. At the moment i'm literally copying my vectors in illustrator and pasting them in Flash, it clearly works but the file sizes seem really high and its hindering the performance of my fla. Is there a more effective way of exporting? or optimizing the imported vectors once they're inside flash?
I have just moved to CS5 and have found that an important part of my workflow has been compromised as a result. Whereas I love to use Flash as a drawing tool and move elements from here to illustrator, then from Illustrator to Photoshop as a shape layer - I have found that Illustrator CS5 renders everything that I paste from flash as a bitmap.I note that there are several options inside Flash to determine how it imports Illustrator files, but I cannot seem to find similar options within Illustrator to change how it deals with objects pasted from flash.
I normally draw all my cartoons in Illustrator (cs5 at the moment), but for a school project I have to animate these cartoons.I believe that I have done this before in Flash CS5 with the bone tool, but this time it doesn't work.I have read numerous of pages that try out the bone tool, but nothing works for me.making the body a movieclip and just import the other filesmaking every part a movieclip (head, arms, legs, tail, etc.)making every part a png or jpeg filegrouping and ungrouping of the vectorIt seems the only option left for me is to draw my cartoon in Flash. Which I'm not too fond of, because Flash ofcourse isn't a drawing programme like Illustrator.
I've just begun using Flash CS5 and I am really at a loss to explain the problems with text in imported Illustrator files. In CS3, which I've used for years, when you import an illustrator file the text is almost perfectly preserved. It has the correct fonts, the text weights are preserved, etc. All is well. In CS5 it converts everything to something called TLF text (whatever that is) and changes EVERYTHING to either _sans or _serif. You can't have both apparently. The fonts are not the same and it's not editable.
In order to set things right I have to change all the text from TLF to classic. THEN I have to change all the text to the proper font and weight. It is a serious problem. I've looked in preferences and on some other forums and I'm not seeing any answers at all. It seems insane to only allow sans or serif when importing and what is this TLF text anyway and why can't I have it default to classic, which seems to work like CS3.
This has been a long time question, why, when you bring illustrator artwork into flash does it add so many unnecessary control points to the object? something as simple as a circle with 4 happy control points in illustrator suddenly becomes a 20 control point circle when brought into flash. It has been this way forever and I know that there is no setting to change this?
I am importing a series of mockups of a website into Flash CS5 as symbols, and it already has elements drawn in Illustrator CS5 that I want to use as buttons. I want to place those symbols into the Timeline and just use simple AS3 to make it go from one mockup screen to the other to make it into a slightly more functional mockup. 1. How can I take the mockups done entirely in Illustrator and make the buttons functional?
I'm trying to paste some non-dynamic text from a mockup from illustrator into flash. This is something I've done a million times before but my new version of flash(cs5) is giving me issues. The default format when you paste text is now TLF which has a ton of problems associated with it and I don't want to use it. If I paste the text in and then change it to "classic text" it changes the layout of the text which makes me basically have to redo my text layout. Is there a way to change the way text gets pasted in and make it default to classic text?
I've got a flash movie with a menu that jumps to a particular frame to load a page. On that frame, there is a movie clip (instance name: scrollbox_frame), and in that movie clip there is a four-layer animation. One of the layers is not animated but contains a dynamic text box (instance name: about_frame), with multi-line and HTML turned on, and a variable name of "aboutus". This is the code that is triggered by the menu button on the root of the flash movie:
Code: myVariables = new LoadVars(); myVariables.load("text1.txt"); myVariables.onLoad = function(success){
I have been given some .SWFs to use in a flash project of mines. I remember being able to import this as movieclip with the animation staying intact. I'm using Flash CS3 and in trying to import the .swf the animation seems to have been stripped. How can you import a .swf into your FLA projects?
I'm creating two separate AIR projects.I'd like them both to be able to access the same XML file that's residing in the user's document's folder. Before, I''ve successfully set up importing XML using URLLoader etc, but this method won't work when trying to access an XML from outside of an air project (I think). So is it possible to imporrt an XML file using something like:[code]
I have a swf presentation with 28 pages. Each page contains a swf movie. It was originally done in 2005 with Flash Studio MX 2004 . In 2005 I imported a swf movie to each page and it all worked perfectly. The filesize was small and exe-filesize was 1,2 MB. Now when I have done small modifications to the swf in Flash CS4 and I try to import it to the main fla then it imports dozens of bitmaps and other stuff. After adding just that one swf exe-filesize is 5 MB and the swf is not even working. it is just a still.
Why canīt I just add the swf like before and it will work? I canīt/donīt want to do the loadmovie-thingy because this exe will go to a client who will share it over and over in their network. Once the file has external files it will be unusable immediately. It has to be in one file just like before. Do I have to go back to Flash Studio MX 2004 to make my modifications if I need to have just one file? Flash CS4 canīt import SWF directly anymore?
Within Photoshop I added some 17 new image layers, then I copied (from an existing image layer) and pasted the layer style onto the newly added image layers. Everything went fine in Photoshop. All images show up correctly with the correct layer style in place, meaning the shadows showing up correctly.Anyhow, once I import the .PSD into Flash CS4 the new image layers show up with darker shadows (100% instead of 50/75% opacity)
