I"ve created some flash content that contains two .flv files that I'm interested in distributing. My question is- how do I "package" the files together so the .flv and .swf open together and I also need to ensure that no one else can open and edit them in Flash(ex- someone receives the files, has flash on their computer and can alter my original content).

View 2 RepliesI would like to create an application whereby users can load in a number of files (images), manipulate them (move them about, basically) and then save the results. Easypeasy.Now, my users typically aren't the most IT-literate people in the world (teachers, basically) and will struggle to understand that in order to use the results elsewhere, they will be required to move all the images and the data file (xml, probably) to whatever computer they need to use it on, re-install the app and then put the files in the appropriate directory to be loaded in.
So, to minimise how complicated this will be, I'd like to create a package (a .zip, perhaps - although I'd prefer a bespoke filetype) that contains the xml and the images, meaning that only one file needs to be moved, which can then be loaded in either via a load dialog, double-clicking it or even drag-drop onto the open app.
I have a photo gallery, with a thumbnail panel (a photo viewer page) that I made, coding the AS3 from the key frame. It just so happens that I saw some class files online that have some good stuff in the tutorial.I've never really worked with .as files and I am intimidated by them.Would it be easier to modify my photo gallery, with a thumbnail panel, from key frame to .as AS3 code or to go from .as to key frame code? I personally feel more comfortable with key frame AS3, but I am not scared to dabble.How can I practice adding a couple of class files to my key frame AS3 code- I'm using regular variables, but the interesting idea I saw uses private variables and public functions, and it imports some stuff?
View 1 RepliesI've have an asp.net app that uses flash for its navigation bar...the flash app uses two class files wrapped in packages that create the functionality of the whole navigation bar.When I run the swf file alone, the flash app works fine...but when I try it in the webserver it fails. Whats more, the flash app in the web server will work fine if I type the full URL to the swf file....it will not work however as an embeded object...and what I mean by that is that the flash app will show up embedded into the .net app but the additional functionality created by the other two class files fails!!!
View 1 RepliesI'm getting close to finishing the application I'm working on, and the person I'm working for is going to be distributing it via DVD. to package my flash file in some format so that when the user opens the file, it will open the swf in an internet browser?
The reason I need to do this is because I have some xml data in it that is keeping it from being fully functional unless opened in an internet browser. I'm not entirely sure why this occurs, because the file works fine in Flash Player on my computer, but not when moved to anyone elses. So, the workaround is to open it in an internet browser.
Anyway, I figure that in order to have the file open in an internet browser, it'd have to be packaged as an exe or some other similar file type, but we want it to be cross-platform.
Maybe there's an easier way, but I need to find out how to package my swf file so that it automatically opens in a browser.

View 1 RepliesI installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

The only function that get's documented in ASDocs is "printf". But I know it can do more than one. As an example, in the livedocs [URL] There are more than one functions documented.
I have just installed FMS. As fast as I see, there is a Vod application, sending stream from static files. We need to have FMS send a live stream, but from a ready made file.
Is there an existing application doing this already? Or does this would require programming a new app on our end? Is what I'm trying to do even possible with FMS?

I am trying to use Jim Bumgardner's Clumping example ([URL]) to create an interface. Part of it is that I am creating clusters of bubbles (one parent bubble with n child bubbles). The child bubbles all follow the parent, so far so good. Next step is to create a random distribution of these clusters. So the clusters all need to be n pixels away from each other. My idea was to build this into the clumping algorithm. I.e. if one parent is too close to another parent, their x and y will increase/decrease with a value. Also I am trying to let the clusters stay in the boundary of the stage. Simply by adding to the algorithm the bubbles should move n pixels to the left when they are too close to the left border of the stage (same principle for the other 3 sides).
Problem is that it kind of not works what I am trying. I extended the algorithm so far that it became a mess difficult to see what's going wrong (see attachment). Can somebody help me with describing how I can improve the Clumping algorithm so that it meets my requirements (1. Clusters distributed randomly, 2. Stage boundary collision)? Pseudo-code is also okay

View 4 Repliesi'm attempting to populate an array with random numbers, but the random numbers must be a certain, minimum distance apart from each other.i've populated an array with 5 random numbers between 0 - 100:[code]after populating and sorting let's assume that myArray now contains these values:26, 27, 42, 92, 97 now i would like some ore all of the array values to be reset, if they need to be, so that they are at least a certain percentage (let's say 10%) of the maximum value (100) apart from each other.the first 2 values (26 and 27) are not at least 10% apart and neither are the last 2 values (92 and 97). however, if i simply moved the value 27 10% away from 26, so that 27 changes to 37, 37 now conflicts with the next value of 42.what is the best approach for populating an array of random numbers who's values will be at least a certain percentage apart from one another but still random.it may go without saying, but i'm looking for a solution that is portable, where maximum values and minimum distribution percentages can be anything, not just for my example above.

View 9 RepliesI make all the Flash banners for my company including onsite events and IMAX films. There are pre made banners that I (we) are allowed to download and use from trusted sites (Paramount/Universal/IMAX/ etc). These are sent out so we can plug in our branding to promote the films locally. In the past year, all the Flash files that I have downloaded or had mailed to me on a disc will not open. The error that I get says:Failed to open document./Users/myname/Desktop/Flash Banners/FLASH/genericflashfile.fla.I first though that maybe the studios were using CS4 or now CS5, but the icon that comes with the .fla files are definetly CS3. I even purchased the SWF Decompiler as a work around, but once I decompressed the swf file, and then re-exported as a fla file, I received the same failed to open error.Files I create on my own work fine.I was wondering if I missed an update for CS3, but I double checked and am up to date.
