How to filter an Arraycollection by "array of values" rather than a single value (simple comparision) , the below code snippet is for filtering by single value now I went into scenario like filter out only price [10,4,1,8] (some random values from the master collection). Is there any better way to do the second code snippet

One point I haven't mentioned is my items in the filterBy array are custom data not the basic datatypes.

filterFunction is a method to apply a filter on the content of a collection.But the filter is not apply into the orginal Array (the one which use in the ArrayCollection) So, after apply a filterFunction, the original Array lenght doesn't change, neither the content because the Array is not update; Only the Arraycollection does changes after filterFunction method.is there anyway to synchronise the content of an arraycollection with an array ?

Is there anyway where I can pass the Array values (not the array collection values) to the Bar charts or column charts using flex 3.5...
here is the thing i want:::
I have array values like this,,
array1 = [23, 49, 40, 239, 20, 80, 39,49,120, 24, 31,41];
and i want to show these values on the Yaxis and months on Xaxis....
I have two Qns,
1) how can I pass this array to Bar chart or column chart.
2) how do I need to show months on Xaxis. beacuse I'm asking this regarding, I have kept a filters that even if we want to see some months or a particular months or perticalar span of months... there on Xaxis it need to change the months dynamically depending on the filters..... (for ex, on Xaxis the values should be (Jan, Apr, Jun,Oct) if i select the 3 months period filter....)
I have written a logic to collect the values of those particular months into an array, but not understading how to pass this array to Bar chart,, beacuse there I don't know what Xfield and Yfield to be given....

I have seen numerous examples on how to remove duplicates in ArrayCollection but I can't seem to transpose this to XMLList. In most ArrayCollection examples, the example compares the key of the array with hasOwnProperty method and return a bool. That's fine, but what would I compare to when using an XMLList? I am using Adobe Flash Builder 4 Premium. I have a mx:DataGrid and a s:TextInput, and I am trying to set up a search box that filters the DataGrid on each key press.his page shows a nearly perfect example of what I'm trying to do, except that I'm setting this up in a s:TitleWindow, which is brought up as a popup using the PopUpManager. The list I'm trying to filter can be very large. It is a list of usernames, fetched from a MySQL database via PHP. Since it can be so large, I want the list to be populated once in the main application and then referenced in the popup window so that it doesn't have to fetch all the usernames each time the user opens the popup.I have all of this working fine for the first time you bring up the popup, but if you close it and bring it up again, I get this runtime error:I also get this error if I attempt to set the filterFunction back to null just before closing the popup.See sample code below:

My Dataprovider for a grid is an arrayCollection which is dynamically loaded with Objects . for example : a person object with persionID,PersonName ..etc . I applied a filter function on my dataprovider based on personID . below is my function

this function is called whenever a new object is being added to the arraycollection . The problem now is dp.length in the above function is returning only the no of objects of the particular personID on which the filterFunction was applied instead of the absolute value . Its not limiting the size of the other objects which are runnning into thousand's causing memory issues . once i change the filterFunction to different personID , it slowly starts limiting the respective personID objects. So the sizeHandler() limits only the personID objects for which filterfunction was applied instead of the whole objects , this is the problem .

I have an array collection that I would like to limit to say 100 items. I tried setting up a filter function where the return was:return (myAC.getItemIndex(item) > 100);but the value was always -1. I have a mxml component with a datagrid listing project names and code versions. I have the selected projects from the datagrid binded to a public variable named "selectedProjects". But how to access this variable in another mxml component. I want the selected project's name in that component's text area. I even created an instance of the first component and using that called the selectedProjects variable. But I do not get the value updated in the text area.
This is the code for the first component where I get the selected projects name in a variable:

I have a flex application that dynamically loads swfs and I want to to use a set of color pickers in an external component within the application to determine a color array in the loaded swf.
I figured that I can use a new array of the colorPickers, i.e.
public var colors:Array = new Array [ cp01.selectedColor, cp02.selectedColor, cp03.selectedColor, cp04.selectedColor, cp05.selectedColor]
Is it possible for the swf to read the Array if it's set up like that? If so what would I put into the swf to get it? If not what do I need to do?

I am trying display values in a datagrid in my application. I have all the values as an xml file. I had only one set of record n the XML file, to fill only one row of the data grid. While trying to store the values from the XML file to an Array Collection in the application File using the code, i.e.,
<mx:Model id="reviewList" source="assets/reviewList.xml"/>
<mx:ArrayCollection id="reviewlist" source="{reviewList.Item}"/>
I get an error, saying Error No# 1034: Type coercion failed cannot convert mx.utils::ObjectProxy to Array.But If I have two record sets in the XML file, it works fine. If there is only one set, I gHere is my xml file:

i stored 8 mc's in an array an i put them on the stage. now I want to apply to these mc's a blur effect. My problem is that i don't know how to apply for every mc the blur effect by clicking on it. So for example I have all the mc's on the stage and if I click on one of them the clicked one should have the blur effect and so on. How to apply the filter to the mc's?

I'm using the .unshift method therefore the newest values go into [0] and the rest are pushed down.
What is a good method to remove a value from an array once it has passed a certain length? For example i only want my array to hold 5 values.
Also, is there a method for clearing the entire array, ie removing all values? Or will i have to manually change all the values with a loop?

anyone knows how to pass an array values from an HTML into flash? Well, to begin I'll discuss what am I doing. I edited a twitter widget javascript which search tweets based on the hashtag I needed then passing it on an array per tweet and then displaying it using a <div> it updates once every 5 minutes. Now I want to display those tweets on a dynamic text on Flash. Let's say I will have 5 dynamic text placed on my flash file then; I want each of those dynamic text to have the tweets I have based on on my HTML arrays to be displayed in random.

I have some variables created on the main timeline and a mc called options which will be where those variables can be manipulated. A way I've tried to this is by creating a first array(array1) and populating it will all the variable names found on the main timeline, and another array(array2) containing the values of the variables the user has changed(which are displayed on some dynamic text fields). To make these changes, an "apply" button is pressed which will set the values found in array2 to the variables in array1.[code]How would you do this so that var1, var2... are updated properly according to the values found in array2?And because array2 contains strings(read from dynamic textfields), how do you deal with that since var1 and var2 are numbers?

This code filters out "steps" and "array" successfully. However, if I uncomment the "preDialogues" code to try and filter out preDialogues, the question node gets skipped entirely. I can see why this happens, but what can I do about it? Its been awhile since I've done recursion. I thought I could return some sort of combined list, or something, but I can't get anything to work.

I'm looking for an efficient way to filter a specific color from a bitmapData object in ActionScript 3. Currently I use a loop with readByte32(). To achieve a zoom effect in our 2D flash game, we make the background of the game much bigger than the visible stage. This becomes a problem when the background is complex or when we apply a grayscale filter to the background. Is there a better way to do zoom? Or, is there a way to apply the filter to only a specific area of a movieclip?
