If a drag a component from the library into a movieclip and then drag the movieclip to the stage. Now if i resize the movieclip, can I set the component with a fixed width or height?
I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides.Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:
<mx:Panel> width="100%" height="100%" </mx:Panel>
Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width.If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.
I have a flash movie that connects to xml, php etc and uses absolute path. The file works perfectly fine on any browser on my mac but doesn't work at all if I am using my windows (none of the browsers seem to be working) This is the way I'm loading stuff: editorXML.load"); [URL] } I don't know now, maybe I should use ' instead of " for this example.
I want to use the checkbox component in my flash app, but it's really tiny. According to this article 1, the size and scale parameters only affect the invisible bounding box. Does anyone know of a quick solution on how to scale up (enlarge) the visual area of the checkbox component in flash CS3?
I have an MovieClip that loads a slideshow (imagerotator to be exact). I'm using AS2 loadMovie to achieve this. The images in the slideshow appear way oversized, extending the width of the entire stage. How to I constrain the size of the slideshow/MovieClip contents?All the images are going to be the same pixel dimensions so it doesn't have to be anything fancy.
I have been working on Flash AS3 project. I am designing a 3D system. Consider a MovieClip A which is at (0,0,0). A contains B which is at (10,10,10). If I rotate A by 10 degrees then the position of B with respect to A remains the same but position of B with respect to the system changes. To find Global X and Y of B, we have the function localToGlobal but it does not tell anything about the Z property. How to find that?
The question is simple. I need one line command like,Math.round((-Math.random() * 2)),which in output just shows 1 and -1. I try to figure it out but it seems not a easy task! I can use IF command like,demo = (Math.random()>.5)?(1):(-1);
I made a gallery in flash. I have external images load in a fixed display area -- I call it 'imageStage'. When the image is loaded, I resize the movieclip at the _x and _y to make the image fit the stage.
But what happens -- when I flip prev/next through a couple images, they keep shrinking and shrinking. Images that are smaller than the fixed area are being shrunk even further.
I'm thinking maybe if I clear the existing image from the MovieClip, it will reset itself back to regular size and proportions. But I don't know how to go about it.
I am looking for a tutorial on Absolute Positioning in Flash. I have noticed a ton of sites where something will stay in a spacific area. For instance in my new site, i am looking to give credit to people. I want it to be a hitTest area that stays on the bottom of the screen no matter how large or small the movie gets with a limit on the small side so it stops getting smaller when the screen is smaller than 800 x 600. This way the movie clip will expand depending upon the users screen size but the content of the hidden area will stay the same size so it does not distort. I think Solenior(sp) did this and maybe a few others. I am looking to learn the actions script behind it not just a "here you go" type of deal. I want to really learn AS not just copy and paste it.
I have a flash banner that references and XML file with an absolute link, whilst I test the banner locally it works fine but when I test it online it doesn't link to the xml file.
I'd like to get the actual height of a component after adding some children.
When inspecting the variables tab in debug mode, I see 2 different height variables:$height (which contains the correct value: 138) and height/_height (which contains a wrong value: 10).
I guess that the display is not updated and so I'm not getting the correct height using component.height, but how can I get the value in $height?
Something I've always wanted to do was creating a custom component in Flash but havespecific parts of the component size appropriately based on, say, the video size.For go there and watch a video... they use the same component for all sizes of video. What seems to be changing is the video width and height, the progress bar width and the position of any status messages for the video.
I was wondering if any one can be kind and help me, I was looking on google about a class or component in as3 that allow me to load an assets like a swf or image an give me so sort of handlers to change the size of the asset loaded, you know like in flash when you want change the size of a symbol you have a little squares handlers that you can pull to change the size, I don't want to reinvented the wheel, and I'm sure it should a be a class or component that I get or buy,
I am a newbie in Flash CS3. How to resize the width of of a movie clip according to the size the size of dynamic text inside it. I did it by creating a text field 'myText' and then converted it to a MovieClip symbol and named the MovieClip as myClip. The text in myText is assigned at run-time and its width changes according to the text.
I did it as follows:- myClip.myText.selectable = false; myClip.mouseChildren = false; myClip.useHandCursor = true; myClip.buttonMode = true; myClip.myText.width = myClip.myText.textWidth + 5;
On doing this I find the clickable area changes according to the size of the text field but the text field doesn't appear at all.
I have been doing a bit of research and have not been able to figure out how to absolute center my oversized files into browser windows like firefox, ie, safari and so forth; the file size is 1400x700.When the user types in URL... I'm trying to get the scroll bar to center on the page.Tried some css tags but no good.site goes live tomorrow.
I'm trying to alter the text size on a button component.I can get in and alter the button graphics properties (color, etc.), I can change the text in the instance properties 'component parameters', and change the text placement, however I don't see where to alter the font size or the font.
I have a viewstack with 3 items in it. Now my problem is that I want all these components to be of the same size. Its simply enough to do this manually but is there any other way of setting the size for all the components at once?
I'm trying to make selectable thumbnail images for a touch screen app where the user can touch the thumbnail image and turn a CheckBox on or off to select/deselect it.
The thumbnail images measure 100x100 pixels, and I want the CheckBox to be in the upper right hand corner of each image. When I go to the Adobe AS3 help site, it says that it should be possible to increase the size of the CheckBox hit area in one of two ways:
1) Select the component on the Stage and use the Free Transform Tool or any of the Modify > Transform commands. 2) Use the setSize() method or applicable properties of the CheckBox class.
According to this same site, if you increase the size of the instance, you also increase the size of the hit area.
I've tried both of these, and none expand the hit area over the entire thumbnail. In fact, neither seems to increase the size of the hit area at all. In order to select a particular thumbnail, the user still has to hit the CheckBox.
I see a number of cool sites and examples using Senocular's TransformTool. Most of them look and function really well. I've downloaded and reviewed the code for a number of different examples.I can see how everyone else's works.I'm having difficulty with 2 points:
1. When I select a movieClip, the TransformTool appears in the correct spot and in the correct dimensions. But the movieClip itself is relocated much above the TransformTool and is MUCH smaller than its original size and the current (and correct) dimensions of the TransformTool. Selecting one of the handles and dragging stretches the movieClip but does not make it the same dimensions as the TransformTool
2. Releasing one of the handles seems to cause the handle to behave in the same way the movieClip did -- you can resize and move the handle.
Is there a way to rewite (or hijack) an absolute URL request made from a flash (swf) file in a browser?I have a flash application that is requesting URL..The code in the flash application cannot be changed but I want to be able to either use another flash or some javascript to write that URL as the image is beging requested - to something like URL...
