Flash :: URLRequest & Loader EventListener Not Firing For Image?
Dec 17, 2010
I'm loading images via a URLRequest and Loader classes and I want to manage the image when the request is complete. The example below doesn't fire the event when it is complete. The same code would work find for a URLLoader, but not a Loader object. Basically the image loads and the event listener is never fired. Can anyone tell me how to get an event to fire when Loader finishes loading an image.
var imageReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.google.com/images/nav_logo29.png");
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
I just inherited some code that produces an embedded rdio music player into a swf. It works great in firefox and safari, except the embedded player does not appear in Firefox... :(
Is this a common issue with the Loader class or contentLoaderInfo events?
This simple code: var loa:Loader = new Loader(); loa.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, onLoaderInit); loa.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaderComplete); loa.loadBytes(someByteArray); Sometimes works, but mostly doesn't. Neither 'onLoaderInit' nor 'onLoaderComplete' fire. 'someByteArray' is always a valid ByteArray, stored in a local SharedObject

I am loading an image using Loader class and with URLRequest, but for some reason I am struggling to reference a file in a sub folder of the root (where the SWF is exporting to) this is local testing and I am assuming that if I refer using an absolute path on a web server it would work - but I do prefer to use relative paths for simplicity.I get the above error, but I know that the file name is correct as moving it to the same folder as the SWF works fine - but in implementation should I wish to organise hundreds of JPGs and create a gallery it would be a bit messy to store them at root level. As mentioned previously I am working on a local drive at present, and have no plans to move to a web server as this is just a test file for my own learning purposes.i have tried "folder/filename.jpg" and even on the unlikely side "folderfilename.jpg" and even further far-fetched "../rootfolder/folder/filename.jpg".The only issue is the path, I am sure of it - but the filename is correct.
I have event listeners for when an image is loading and for when loading is complete.
Both of them fire--I've used traces to confirm that.
But I can't get the text field that says "Loading..." to disappear once the image has loaded. I've tried making the text field invisible, making the text equal nothing, and removing it as a child. Nothing is working. Maybe I am not manipulating the text field properly?
I've got a custom Thumbnail class that reads in an image path, a label, and an index. The class simply loads the image and and onComplete it pulls the bitmap out of loader.content, assigns it to a public variable and then dispatches an event saying its completed.
I use these thumbnails in a thumbnail gallery and I don't build the gallery in until all thumbnails are loaded and ready. The problem is the COMPLETE event doesn't always fire for every thumbnail, therefore not allowing the gallery to build.
I used a ProgressEvent.PROGRESS to make sure the files were being loaded, and found that when the loads failed the loader still loaded the totalBytes.
I've also tried Event.INIT and its the same issue.
INIT and COMPLETE just don't seem to be either caught or dispatched.
Code: public class Thumbnail extends Sprite { /****************************************************************************************** * VARIABLES
I am trying to get my Actionscript program to turn in a key-value (more specifically: a key, value1, value2) object into a server. I am doing the html request properly, but I'm not sure what kind of object to send;
So my problem may be a little bigger than that, but I'm not certain. I'm creating a custom flash photo viewer for a client that dynamically loads the images with Loader objects. It takes a folder name in a specified directory on the server and calls a php page (using URLRequest) to get the workable contents of the folder. And then it loads it up from that array.
Here's the problem: it works FINE on my machine and every machine I've tested it on, but it DOESN'T work on my client's machine or some of his customer's machines. The loader bar that's at the bottom of the screen doesn't start to fill, which means that the images aren't starting to even load, and the status bar indicates that it continues to wait for a the server, yet never finishes waiting. This is consistent on a single machine, but varies across machines.
I've added diagnostics (a custom class I made to track certain vars and collect errors) to the thing to catch any errors, but it reports nothing on my client's machine. I've added flash version checking code, so the possibility of a lower version messing it up is gone... I guess my question is, is there anything (security, environment, etc) that I could have overlooked that doesn't allow request objects or something to work on certain machines?? I've been ripping my hair out trying to figure this out!
I'm creating an image loader with a specific effects that requires layering multiple masks over the same movieclip. in the timeline it looks like this:
What I want to do is add an instance of the loaded image into each of these masked movieclips. I'm trying this:
create a new instance of the loader and store it in an Array
Code: for (var j=0; j<allThumbs.length(); j++) { imgLoader = new Loader(); img_arr.push(imgLoader);
[Code]....
The only way I've been able to get this to work is to create an entirely new Loader object for each movieclip instance. Doing it this way loads the same image 4 times... that's not acceptable.
how I can store the image that is loaded and reuse it in the different movieclip instances?
im working on an image viewer and im loading an image to a loader and then add the loader to the stage.I want the user to be able to drag and drop the image but since it's a loader i dont know how to do it. I tried
I am a bit stuck here for the past few days. I have a SWF running in Security.LOCAL_TRUSTED sandbox. I can load my JPEGs and simple SWFs without any problems
I will use the URLRequest to upload the modified image in Flex. It works fine. However, I need to add Content-Length as a URLRequestHeader for the moment, and I get error 2096. Then, I know that this header is not allowed.
Update: According to adobe's documentation: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/URLRequestHeader.html[code].....
How would I make an image I load using AS3's loader class into a button with an event handler on it? Below is what I have started. And below that is my error I get when I click the message.
AS:
//call function that starts loading my image callButtons(); function callButtons():void {
[code]....
the error I am getting when I click the spanish.png on the stage is: ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on MyVideoPlayer_CS4_fla::MainTimeline/playSpanish(). Expected 0, got 1.I NEEDED TO ADDED evt:MouseEvent
[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. However, clicking on any thumbnail still results in URL not found, even though everything works correctly.[code]Before anyone asks why I'm putting this kind of content into a flash site, I'm not--this is only for a class assignment. I'm just trying to figure out why my images aren't loading right when I'm only doing the exact same thing in the functions as I am on the other pages.Of note, commissions.swf has the exact same feature, just with swf files loaded instead, and it works perfectly fine. home, traditional, digital, and photography all have the image gallery, and all have the same issue (I only referenced one page because if I can fix one page I should be able to fix all of them).As for the artworks, they are all my fiance's. The website design was built for her, and I used the website design for this project because I didn't want to have to build an entirely new interface design. Since the project also required a gallery, I felt that this interface would work just fine.
i have imported an image using actionscript using urlrequest.i have set its x and y bu the image is to big, i want to resize it, i have tried the height and widt but it doesnt work
In my movie i have a link button with following, simple, function creating a link:
[Code]...
lately i've associated a class file (.as) to my movie and immediately after, when publishing the movie i got the following error message: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: URLRequest. as well as a couple of other related error messages: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method URLRequest. 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method navigateToURL. when i remove the link to the class file, the problem goes away. also, i have checked the class file for mentioning of "URLRequest" and nothing is there.
And I do absolutely nothing with the loaded image, I don't add it to the display list or anything. But when I use the unload() method on the loader it doesn't disappear from memory! Even if I set the _loader = null it doesn't free up the memory!
I check the System.totalMemory property and it just keeps stacking up if I repeat the process.
I have a nice as3 swf that reads and xml file, and loads images with transitionsfor a slide show on an html banner page.This works fine. There are some users that see white space (the stage) before thefirst image loads. Depending on the clients connection, etc this can take aslong as 2 or 3 sec.
I was thinking about placing a jpeg in the fla, and adding it to the stageas a symbol or graphic, so instead of white space (or a color other than white)the user sees an image on the page, and when the xml loader places the first image on the page, the user sees the image, and the slideshow, etc.
I have a flash file (.fla) which is created in Adobe Flash CS4.
I want to add pre-loader which is basically a simple .gif image (my company logo). I want when someone run that flash (.swf) file, first for at least 3 seconds my company logo will be displayed and then the rest flash file will execute.
I have been looking over the internet for a while about this, but it doesn't seem like there is any information available specifically related to captcah and flash.
My purpose is to create an image up-loader on flash, and implement "recaptcha" on it, so the upload is controlled.
I know that some people will say, "well you can't automatize flash input so you don't need captcha in this situation" even though this is somewhat true, there is still screen macro programs that could potentially make the computer upload hundreds of pictures if there is not something in place to avoid it.
I thought of implementing my own captcha but that seems to me like i would be reinventing the wheel, can anyone point me on the right track for this? or suggest another approach to avoid abuse on my image up-loader flash?
There's a Loader that I'm filling with different images depending on the button clicked. Now to keep it tidy I'm using the exact same loader. The problem is that no matter what I do to the image, the next image loaded always get's the properties of the previous one. I've used unload and the Loader returns 0 in width and height, and still the next image get's the previous image's w/h. Othe attempts have been separating it from the parent container and taking it out of the display list, and also using an Event.UNLOAD to make sure the previous image is out before the loading of the new image.
Script is gonne kinda long, but the basics would be these,
BrowserLoad.unload(); BrowserReq = new URLRequest("ImageB.jpg"); BrowserLoad.load(BrowserReq);
[Code]....
I guess it's general question: how can i be sure the image previously loaded in a Loader will not affect the next one coming? (its width and height being 0 has not been enough...)
I'm displaying an external image in Flash with the loader object, and then addchild() and that whole thing. Im wondering how, if possible, I could then add that same child to another movie clip. So far, when i do, it doesn't show up in the original movie clip anymore. Is there a way for me to display an image twice by pulling it from the same source like you would do with html,css?
i like to ask about one thing If i create Loader and load external image by URLRequest , ill have result :
loader.content is Bitmap loader.content.bitmapData is BitmapData But if I use Loader.loadBytes(ImageBytes) , result is different even if ImageBytes is loader.contentLoaderInfo.bytes :
bytesLoader.content is MovieClip bytesLoader.content.getChildAt(0) is BitmapData bytesLoader.content.getChildAt(0).bitmapData is BitmapData
I need to load (dynamically) an image stored in the library of Adobe Flash to the loader component. So far, i have imported this image to the library and exported it to ActionScript under the linkage section. I have named its identifier as well.
My XML Image Loader is working fine, but, my problem is with the size that the flash is generating the .swf i have just codes and vectors inside my .fla and the swf have 294kbs...
For the project I'm working on I need to dynamically load a SWF and then an imagine on top of that SWF. Based on mouse overs and the like that image will fade in or out. I have the dynamic implementation down, I just cannot quite seem to figure out how to manage the image file that overlays the SWF. Here's a snippet of the code I'm working with:
Code: var ldr:Loader = new Loader(); var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(thisOne.src);
I am developing a Image uploader using Flash 10. I am using Filereference object to browse images and Loader to show the image:
Sample code:
var tempFileRef:FileReference = FileReference(ev.target); var oLoader:Loader = new Loader(); oLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onImageLoad); oLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onIOError); oLoader.loadBytes(tempFileRef.data);
It works fine with .jpg and .gif files but when I browse .bmp or .tiff file, I am getting the error:
Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.
Is there a way to load and display browsed .bmp images from desktop?
