Is it possible to run the ADL without a GUI so that I can run FlexUnit tests during a nightly build? Right now, when I execute our test runner on our server (Ubuntu 9.04) it fails with the output: "Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:".

I can't seem to work out how to enable icons in the AIR Debug Launcher. This seems to work on Linux, but when I run it on Windows or Mac only the Adobe AIR icon shows. I have specified the location of the icon in <icon></icon> in the application descriptor file.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to display the Soft Keyboard when debugging using ADL? If I use the existing properties I still don't see it. I want to check if my layout looks well when the Soft Keyboard appears, but for some reason I don't see it coming in ADL (Adobe Debug Launcher). I don't have a tablet to test it on for now so that isn't a solution. I don't see the soft keyboard or doesn't it exist in ADL?

View 2 RepliesIn TFS 2010 build, I have a new build and I want to call an ant script that builds Flash. How do I call the ant script? Also How can I compile the Flash directly? I've seen the Power Tools and this question but it doesn't help me as we don't have TFS 2008. I can't find any documentation on how to use the power tools except the 1 sentence on the bottom of download page saying to create your build the old way and import it (which isn't very helpful). I've installed the power tools on the agent computer but I don't see any new options in the Toolbox when I'm designing the build flow.
View 2 RepliesI just started working with ant a few days ago. Right now I have a general buildall.xml which should call each project's build.xml. Because some projects depend on each other, I need to rebuild some other projects which depend on it. This isn't a problem--I'm just setting the depends property of the target. However, ant is always building the dependencies, even when the files haven't changed.Let's say project1 has no dependencies; project2 depends on project1; project3 depends on project1, 2; project4 depends on project1, 2, and 3; and so on.I could hack a solution which looks at project K, and checks if project 1 .. project K have updated files using uptodate. If so, then run the target. This is messy and appears unnecessary.
What is the cleanest way to implement this?EDIT: So I decided to just hack in a bunch of targets, "check_projectK" where it does the uptodate checks on all of its source files, its build file, and the build files of the 1 .. K-1 projects. Due to dependencies, this is always handled correctly. However, this is still a large amount of copy and paste for a large workspace.

View 2 RepliesWhen I first downloaded Flash CS3 Professional, I was able to enter an exceedingly useful debug mode by compiling using ctrl+shift+enter instead of ctrl+enter. I could toggle break points, step in, step over and view values stored in variables at a whim.
I must have accidentally toggled some option somewhere, because this interface no longer shows up. Instead, the only extra interface I get is the output menu with the following text "Attemping to launch and connect to Player using URL <file path> [SWF] <file path> - 71984 bytes after decompression" and while the swf does halt if the as3 code reaches a break point, it doesn't tell me which break point nor give me any options to progress the flow (not even through the pull down menu I have to utilize in order to end the so called debug session).
Which CI server do you use for Flex? My main contenders are currently

Both seem to be popular on the general level but have you got some direct experience with using one or both with Flex development? Or would you recommend some other tool?
I have a swf that I need to attach the flex builder debugger to. I have full access to the source code, and can make a debug build of this swf.
However, this swf is being loaded by a non-debug build of another swf which I don't have source code to, and can't make a debug build with.
I've tried mocking this up with two very simple swfs, and while it works fine when both are debug builds, when the outer swf is a non-debug build, while I can get the debugger to connect, I don't get trace messages, breakpoints don't work, and it seems to lock up the flash app.
I have flash installed on my mac 10.6.7 and it's version is 11.1.102.55 (Non-debug).How do i convert it into debug.

If I copy all the files from the debug folder and paste it somewhere it stops working gives me a sandbox error. ( I am not using any absolute paths) and everything seems to be fine in debug folder.

I have a Flex 4 application which connects to ASP.NET webservice based on FluorineFx. It is authenticated by cookies via RemoteObject.setCreadentials()
Both applications connect to FMS server and talks to each other via RTMFP direct connection (P2P).
I want to debug both instances of this application in Firefox and Internet Explorer at one time by single click (F11).
Now I can debug only in one browser by running Debug in Flash Builder 4. I have created double browser runner with bat file registered as default browser in Preferences > General > Web browser that looks like this:

But this connects the debugger only to firstly run instance of the application in Internet Explorer.

I've been working in Flash BUilder 4.0. I installed Flash Builder 4.5, and switched to the workspace I had used for 4.0. Then we were told to go back to 4.0, and now I can't run or debug. I can build, but then I have to double click on the .html file to run. Right clicking doesn't bring up run or debug, and the run and debug icons are not in my toolbar.
View 3 RepliesI have an AIR application which uses RemoteObject to comunicate with remote services in PHP (using Zend AMF). The application works great, but I can't debug the PHP side (the Flex debugger works fine, the PHP side is the problem). I'm using Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP, when I write a Web Application (not AIR), I can choose to debug the application as "Web (PHP) Application", and the breakpoints in the PHP side are working as expected. But I can't see any similar option for Desktop Applications (AIR). Does somebody know if it's possible (and how) to debug the PHP side in an AIR application?

I've migrated to FDT from flashdevelop and kind of have a hard time getting things to work the way I'm used to. In Flashdevelop, you could easily choose if the compiled swf was a release or debug version. In FDT however, it seems like there is no way to compile a version that has debugging information without it automatically opening up the debug perspective with a ton of debug windows, a profiler and actually entering debug mode.
As an extra plus, I keep getting a message saying "This feature is only available in FDT Max", although from what I know the debugger is included in the free version. Is there a way to do what I'm trying to do or should I just get used to this new way of working?
The company I am working for has a flash component (using flex and cs4) that crashes intermittently in chrome, FF and IE. (so far only win32 platforms)
I submitted a bug report to Adobe but have not heard anything back from them. Their support process seems like a black hole. WE can get a dump from Flash using these steps but after submitting the bug we got no help at all.
We loaded this into MS visual studio but can;t get decent stack information because there are no symbols for the flash stuff.
Microsoft and other companies provide symbols to help with debugging and we would like to get that from adobe. Is there any way to make progress on this?
Does anyone know where to get flash symbols or how else we can make progress?
It is hard to debug the process if the container just dies.

I just spent a painful hour on the phone with adobe folks - and the final answer from one of them (I spoke to about 8 people) was that they do not have a per incident purchase plan for developer support for flash.
Does anyone know how I can see my object details as in an array or some sort while debugging instead of [Object object]?

After waiting a long time, the status changes to "OK" and the clock cursor disappears. How can I find out why a webservice takes sometimes minutes while it usually takes not even a second?
My webservices run on my localhost during development using the Zend AMF Server.
I am debugging both a flash cs4 project and a flash builder project, actually the flash builder project will load the flash cs4 project thru swfloader, but the system can only support one debugger at a time. So I am seeking a method to debug it simultaneously...
View 1 RepliesMy Flex application is successfully calling functions in a JavaScript file through the ExternalInterface class when these are in the bin-debug folder and the JS file is located in the same directory as the Flex app.But when I test the Flex app on the server, it is not interacting with the JavaScript. The only difference I can find is that on the remote server the JS file is being pulled in from a URL, instead of locally. The JS file URL is in the same domain as the Flex application, therefore I don't think this is a cross-domain issue. What am I missing?
