I have a Flex module created in Flash Builder 4 as a swf file. I am trying to load and run in within a Flash application. I can get the module loaded but I can not get the flash application to access any module functions. Here is how I load the module in Flash and the error I get. If I change the module to an application type swf then it loads and runs but now I have two applications on top of each other. I would like the loaded module swf to be able to have access the Flash stage object.
ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property application not found on MyModule__mx_core_FlexModuleFactory and there is no default value.
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
[code].....
I get a ActionScript class for loading the content:
public class LoaderContainer extends Sprite {
public function LoaderExample() {
loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
addChild(loader);

I've tried to google this, but can't seem to find what I'm after.I want to add a flex-compiled .swf into a Flash Pro compiled .swf. The flex-compiled file is in the library of the Flash Pro compiled file. Is this possible?I've discovered that you can load an external flex-compiled .swf into a Flash Pro compiled .swf using the following:
ActionScript Code:
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
addChild(loader);

Has anybody loaded EPS files to Flash or Flex?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to load a XML via POST-request in Flex:
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest('res/unhasher.xml');
request.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
loader = new URLLoader();
loader.load(request);
But in Firebug I see that my file is loaded through GET.
Request header:
GET res/unhasher.xml HTTP/1.1
Host: bla-bla-bla.com
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1

How to make POST requests from Flash/Flex?
Is there a way that I can load (or export) Flex/Flash builder project in Flash Professional CS5?As it turns out we got Flash Prof for our team, but it may look like we actually need Flash builder to build lots of UI related stuff..

If you have an flv of 20mb, does Flash fully load it before starting to play it? And if not, what's the difference then with streaming video?
View 1 RepliesI'd like to write a simple flex app that works like the [URL] service. (you can try it without registering at [URL]
Here the steps I need to implement
1) User upload a pdf form
2) The form is converted in a a flash form
3) User fill the form (using a flash app)
4) User download the filled form as pdf document
Does anybody have some advices to start ? For step 2 I have found many pdf to flash converter but I need to leave the form editable.
I've this huge problem loading a symbol from a swf file in the application at runtime. I want to load it and pass it as a argument to another class where it could be used further. The symbol name is passed on from the array collection from the "o" object. Can anybody please tell me what's the right way to go about it.

My flex application has a very bad load time (approx 5 to 8 wasted seconds) but only for FF and IE, Chrome appears fine.I've determined there is some kind of useless idle time before the application's initalization event fires. This is not just my development box, it happens everywhere. It is consistent across Flash version, OS and browser versions too. I've tried multiple. Chrome consistenly works very fast, IE and FF have this strange lag.However locally, whether via localhost or remote IP, it doesn't have this issue. I'm sure you'll think it is the download time, but my SWF is very small (400K) and I've purposely made external images that are very small. I also prefetch the images via JavaScript, and firebug reports the the cache is used later. The download size can't really justify the wait time. Not to mention, why is it so much faster in chrome? Is chrome really that fast downloading images and SWF files?
Also, minimal JavaScript is called from Flex, and I've more or less ruled out that is the issue.So it isn't Chrome's super fast handling of JavaScript.I don't see any large load times with Firebug.I see JavaScript excute in the browser inline during a page load, but then the appliation init within the SWF doesn't fire for about 5 to 8 seconds later.I don't see why flash on Chrome is so much faster, nor what could be taking so long for Flash to kick in.Tried the Flex Profiler, but memory usage spikes AFTER the bad load time.Otherwise, I don't know enough or see enough to recognize a problem with it.
I am having a problem with preloaders showing up in my flex apps. I never had this problem when developing flash apps so I got the idea to use a flash app as a shell with the sole purpose of showing a preloader while the flex app loads. I am not sure how to do this though, and I also need to ba able to pass the FlashVars from the shell flash app to the flex app.
View 2 Repliesi've been struggling with this issue. I need to load a flex swf into a flash as3 shell and then call its methods. I can see the flex swf no problem - but calling its methods - nothing works. Now considering LocalConnection or even ExternalInterface to communicate between the two.
View 2 RepliesI'm currently working on a project that contains a lot of data, about 14.000 records. This means an xml file of about 3mb. Now my question is: Should I use the xml file to load all the data at once, or should I use a webservice, that provides the data when I need it? Keep in mind that I'm new to webservices. And if I'm going to use a webservice: How do I store the data, in a mySQL database?How fast is a webservice?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a project with a flex component that I designed in flash and exported as a swc. The moment I changed two of the text fields in the flex component to from static to dynamic text fields, my app started throwing an error when I create a new instance of the flex component. I get the following error:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.text::TextField@1dddb179 to flash.display.MovieClip.
at flash.display::Sprite/constructChildren()
at flash.display::Sprite()

When I deleted the text fields from the stage and republished my game swc, it worked fine.
Using flex builder with flex sdk 3.4.0 if the module is remote like url...The READY event is never fired, i don't understand why.Do you get the same behavior? Original code is from url...[code]
View 3 RepliesI have a Flex application that automatically loads the SWF and it's contents and displays the default progress bar like in all Flex apps. Currently I have a class in the application using a Loader instance to load an external bitmap to be added to the stage/canvas. I'd like to handle the loading of this bitmap in the Flex default preloader and get rid of the Loader instance entirely.
View 1 RepliesHow can I display an animated SWF in my custom Flex button (I am using the Spark library).
View 1 RepliesI have a legacy file format that contains sounds embedded in it (in various encodings). I would like to be able to play these sounds in Flash (Air?) by reading the sound bytes out of the file and instantiating a Sound object with them.
If the sound is unencoded (e.g., raw pcm), I've found that I can use the new flex 4 SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA event to play the sound.
However, if the sound is encoded (e.g., mp3), then I'm at a loss. The sound expected by SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA has to be raw pcm. From what I've seen, encoded Sounds can only be instantiated by [Embed]ing them, or by using a URLRequest with Sound.load().
I am building a flash application using flex. From time to time, I see an issue in IE 7 and 8 where the user logs into the site and the browser content pane is completely grey and the entire page (html, javascript and flash) won't load until the user clicks the X (Stop) button next the address bar. As soon as the X is clicked, the html loads and then the swf file loads immediately.
This doesn't happen for me or any other developers on the project so it is very hard to diagnose. The users are all using the latest flash player. The only difference between our setups that I can think of is that we have the debug version of flash player and they probably do not.
I have created a popup window in a flex website and I wanted to load a HTML page inside that popup. I tried many ways to do it but that way unsuccessful. Can someone recommend me a approach to get this done?

View 1 RepliesI'm looking at a tutorial to display placemarks using a KML file on a flex application. I'm using IGN API (openscales) in flex project. The example works perfectly (http:/[url].......
<os:KML url="http://www.parisavelo.net/velib.kml"
proxy="http://openscales.org/proxy.php?url="
numZoomLevels="20"
style="{Style.getDefaultCircleStyle()}"/>
But when I'm hosting the same kml file on my server like that :
<os:KML url="http://www.cycom.org/velib.kml"
proxy="http://openscales.org/proxy.php?url="
numZoomLevels="20"
style="{Style.getDefaultCircleStyle()}"/>
Placemarks don't show up on the map. I tried to host the kml file on different hosts but that doesn't change.
i have a mobile application that i am attempting to use to load an interactive .swf file. At first, i was just going to use the .mxml applications from my other project file in flex, but they're for desktop apps and running on Flex 3.6, and Mobile apps can't be built on less than 4.5 :P
so, i figured i'd export the first project to a .swf, and load it in my mobile application, but nothing i do will get it to show up. anyone know a solution?

I installed Flex Builder plug in (3.2) into Eclipse 3.4. The installation had no errors, but I get this error when trying to start a new Flex Project.The selected wizard could not be started.

I have tried re-installing several times, even tried the older eclipse versions.
I compiled a simple AS3 project using Flex 3.5 (also tried Flex 4.1) to create a small swf which draws a simple red square on screen. Nothing too complex that requires special flashplayer support (see code below)
package

import flash.display.Sprite;

and tried to load it into a AS2 swf I have compiled using Flash CS4. But that just didn't work. I don't get any errors when loading and the AS2 swf can load any swf, either compiled in AS2 or AS3 by Flash.
An IE issue has me completely stumped. I have a coldfusion page that uses JQuery's AJAX .load function to load in a new flash file that is generated by coldFusion's cfchart tag. This works completely fine in firefox: the new flash file and new html elements load. However in IE: all of the html elements that are geneated with the flash object are loaded, except the flash object and embed tags do not show up at all after running an ajax call in IE. After looking in Fiddler, the flash application type response data doesnt even show up for IE. It does however for Firefox.I thought maybe it has to do with any kind of media, so i changed the chart type to output as a jpg file instead of flash. And it loads completely fine in IE. So something is preventing IE from receiving the flash response data.Here's what i've done so far - and no luck so far:
Added to the HTML header: <META

I need some help? Anyone experience this problem before with IE8 FLASH bug? Can not get this to work on all subsequent refresh to the flash. I have a flash piece which simply renders only on the first initial load. After that, if i refresh or visit the page, it does not load correctly. It seems I am having this problem with the swf only on subsequent loading of the page or whenever a refresh happens.
