I have something like this:
<object id="myflash"></object>
I've tried making jQuery click the object like so:
$('#myflash').click();
But this doesn't work. Is there another way to do this?
$("#listView object.modal").click(function(){
// Get the ID of the clicked link:
var link = $(this).closest("h2").attr("title");
[Code]....
This fires a modal (jQuery UI). It it working in FF, Chrome/Safari but not in IE 7/8. Is there something I'm missing here?
Big Picture: We're using a swf to render custom type and there is a link in the rendered (flash) content. We're hoping to catch the link action in the jQuery listener so we don't have to extend our swf have an optional param to return false on link click.
Is there a way I can have JavaScript/jQuery know when a Flash object has been clicked (and still have Flash process the click)?
I tried putting a table on top of the object with position: fixed and a z-index and the object set to param name='wmode' value='transparent' so I could have my JavaScript detect which column was clicked using jQuery's click(), but the clicks were never intercepted by JavaScript (Chromium Linux).
I am toggling show/hide using jQuery on a div block via [code]and it's working perfectly except for one minor detail.When there is a flash video player in that content area, the flash player will not hide along with the rest of the block via the "toggle" function.The strange thing is that it will hide the video using the hide() function but I'd rather use toggle() to keep track of my state and switch accordingly.Is this a bug in the toggle() function or am I forgetting something here?By the way, it appears to do this only in Google Chrome. Safari, Firefox, Opera all work fine, so I'm thinking this is a Chrome bug.
View 1 RepliesI have a flash movie embedded on a webpage, it's an intro of sorts, when the movie has finished it removes itself from the DOM but I also want this functionality on flash movie click.so far to remove it after it's finished playing I'm using[code]but it never gets called. I also tried adding the click event to the body and it worked everywhere but not over the top of the flash movie.
View 2 RepliesI am making a dynamic banner system which can handle img banners, as well as flash banners done with object/embed. The entire site makes heavy use of jQuery, including handling the 'click' events.
This obviously isn't a problem when it comes to tracking the clicks on the image itself (i track the click on the parent DIV tag. However, it fails when the advert is an SWF, as I suspected it would.Is there a jQuery workaround that would allow me to capture a click on a Flash element with the DOM?

How to implement advanced video player (javascript/jquery/flash) for youtube videos that supports playlists? Is there some good open source script for this, that I could modify.
View 2 RepliesI'd been following several answers to similar problems with no luck at all, so i decided to try asking by myself:I have a page with several links that have to load data via Ajax using jquery and put the response inside a div. The main "tab" is a flash wich is inside a layer.Every time a user clicks on any of those links, flash container is resized to 0px and set visibility to hidden (trying to prevent the reload behaviour if display is set to none).
All works just fine EXCEPT the first time you click on any link that hides flash layer. In that particular case (only in Firefox) it resets the flash to initial state. I'm going nuts about this..

I'm just trying to understand a difference between IE, Chrome and Firefox. I have the following code on a page:
$('object').live('click', function(){
alert('Fired');
});
I then populate the page with some Flash controls (in my case, I'm using Uploadify). When I click on the Flash control, I see the alert in Firefox 4. However, I do not see the alert in IE8 or Chrome (I havent tested any other browsers).
I'm having some trouble with the code below. the flash player has a default volume slider, but I want to use the jQuery slider to change the volume. the volume value(nr) is changing while I move the slider, but the volume of the song doesn't.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<script type='text/javascript'>

How can I display alternate HTML with the jquery.swfobject plugin for browsers without Flash? I'm unable to find any documentation or examples showing how to do this.

I am a web designer and I do like to hand code using jquery however, I think it would be much faster to use gui applications like flash to create animations especially on the fly as well as support for writing and editing source code.

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?
I've got an HTML page with an embedded flash movie, which has a button. This button in flash invokes the lnkEmail's click event. It's supposed to stop from actually navigating to a new page, but the event.preventDefault(); and the returning of false from the event handler don't seem to be working for me. Can anyone provide insight?
The below example is working in Chrome, but fails in IE 7 and FF. In those browsers it redirects to a blank page with Object [object] as the body and in FF has the url set to the javascript code I execute from within the Flash movie. (ie: "javascript:jQuery('#lnkEmail').click();")

I am trying to build a very simple Flash app in CS4. All I want to do is have JPGs overlayed over a sound layer in a series of scenes. I want a basic intro scene that ends w/ a table of contents from where you can click to view any scene. At the end of each scene is a frame where the user can replay the current scene, return to the TOC frame in scene 1 or proced to the next scene. I am having two SERIOUS problems.
1. For some reason my movie is NOT stopping at the "stop ();" action at the end of scene one. the action is on its own keyframe in the timeline, but when I "test movie" it just plays right past that to scene 2.
2. I obviously need multiple buttons on a scene to do different things on click. Does it really have to be as complicated as it seems to have multiple buttons all do different things on click? I keep getting told I have duplicate actions when I have two buttons on a page that do different things on click. I have named each button instance a unique name and written the gotoandplay click event using those unique instance names.
Is there any way to play, stop or gotoAndPlay(anyframe) from JQuery?
View 2 RepliesRecently I have made a simple flash application that utilizes a webcam feed and an embedded chromeless youtube player within it. I now need to make custom controls around the player but would like to be able to do that in html/css and control it with js/jquery. While I can find material helping me control the chromeless player directly ( as in solo embedded and not part of another flash app ). My question is that since the chromless player is embedded INSIDE of another flash app ( say test.swf ) can I still access the player in there from js?

View 2 RepliesI have a video (AS2 swf) that navigates to a preset web page after it reaches "stop", but I can't figure out how to play the swf file from another web page. Help needed with HTML (or other usueable script) for the following task:
1. Click on a graphic image on web page which will then
2. Play the swf file located on a different web site with Flash Player
When the user clicks on the video once its ended id like it to pop up a window with a new url in it - how can i do this in jw player?
View 1 RepliesI have the following code from Adobe:
myListener = new Object();
myListener.click = function(evt){
trace(evt.type + " triggered");
}
myButton.addEventListener("click", myListener);
But this does not work though the btn on stage have the same Instance name as in code.
I'm building a website for a client that includes testing videos which need to have a limit on how many times the test taker can click the play/pause/scrub buttons (with a counter to let them know how many clicks they have left).
To the best of my knowledge they don't have the original flash project of the current player they're using (which does have that feature, but needs to be redesigned), and I'd rather build it with AS3 anyway.
I'm hoping to just alter one of the existing player component skins like Minima and add a box to display the click count, but I honestly don't know how to alter the component itself to keep track of the clicks and disable the buttons when they reach a specified number.
Is it possible to remove right click in Flash player with some script?
