Make The Video Run At A Steady Speed?

Dec 10, 2009

I've created a video that starts off with 20 layers and ends with 100, so the video starts moving at a decent speed in the beginning then slows down tremendously from the middle to the end. How can I make the video run at a steady speed? Also how can I make the file size smaller without ruining the quality and changing the image size?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keeping A Steady Framerate?

Sep 22, 2009

However, there is one issue that plagues a lot of viewers, their players not being able to rend the frames in time.Flash rends each frame on the spot where it is needed, this is obviously needed for actionscripting and similar. But this also means that if a frame takes too long to rend, the player has to do something about it.

The player actually does one of two things, depending on if there is any streaming sounds going on or not.If there is a streaming sound, Flash drops frames to keep in sync. Otherwise, Flash just ignores the issue and draws the next frame as if it didn't have any lag detection.Obviously, neither of these is desirable. What can you do about it? Well, the obvious thing is to not do crazy graphics that takes forever to rend. But what if you can't change the graphics?

There is one thing that you can always do, change the antialiasing level the player is using to do the rending. It's 4x4 (High), 2x2 (Medium) or none at all (Low). This makes the rendering go faster, since it is rendering to less pixels.You can also do other things that are movie dependent to reduce the work load. Things like spawning less particles in a particle effect or outright not having some effects. But those are all movie specific and difficult to work with in a general way.

One idea that I had was to draw everything to a bitmapdata of a smaller size and showing that instead, however, that has it's own issues. For one thing, I do not believe that the player can do it's "changed only" redrawing when you do this. Second, there is the issue if you want the corresponding bitmap instance to be smoothed or not. And of course, if you do this, zooming in will not have the infinite resolution that Flash is known for.Obviously, you need to know when the movie is lagging in order to know when to do this. However, the best I can think of is timing the enterframe events and checking if it has been too long since the last one.
This works to show if you are having issues reaching the target framerate or not, but it does not show the load if you are not having trouble reaching the target framerate.

Now, assuming that we have a metric for how well the playback is working, the big question remains: when do you change the rendering settings? And how do you do it?Yes, it is just a simple property of the Stage class for the antialiasing, but that is not what I mean here. I mean, how do you say if it should be changed or not? When it's even lagging one frame? When it's not lagging for one frame? The same, but for 20 frames? This is something I don't know what to pick.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Video (FLV) In Reverse Speed?

Jun 17, 2010

if it's possible to smoothly reverse the speed of an FLV streaming from the web (HTTP, not Flash Server) - that is, play the video backwards. I am using a Video instance to play a NetStream streaming the FLV. I'm waiting for the whole thing to load before playing the video (the video is paused at start), so it would be nice if there was a way to access the buffered data and then play it backwards.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling The Speed Of A Video With A Slider?

Mar 8, 2012

I've been following/combining a few tutorials across the Internet. I'm looking at controlling the speed of a video with a slider. I've currently got the slider working and the video on stage but I'm a little unsure as to the algorithm required to make such a slider work. The video I want to control needs to move from half speed, 0.5-1 on left half of the bar and to double speed 1-2 on the right hand side of the bar.

The below is my code so far.

Code:
import flash.events.MouseEvent;import flash.events.Event;
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;

[Code].....

I'm looking for 1) an algorithm to slow/increase the speed and 2) a way to use the videoSpeed var to control the speed of a Movie Clip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Imported Video - Speed When Playing In Reverse

Jul 19, 2006

In my flash movie, I've imported a very small video file. When the video is done playing, I wanted the user to be able to click a button and the video would play in reverse. I've gotten this to work with the _currentframe and _nextframe properties, but when I play the movie in reverse it's not as smooth. Here's an example of what happens: [URL] Once the movie is done playing, click on it. When it's playing in reverse, you can see it gets a little choppy when the guy gets towards the top of the rail. Has anyone found a way to play the movies backwards without having the speed affected? Maybe I shouldn't use the _currentframe property??

Actionscript :: Detect User's Download Speed For Flash Video?

Sep 17, 2010

We have a custom flash video player. It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Make Formula For Calculation Of Speed

Jan 3, 2011

I´d like to know how would I make a formula for the calculation of speed.It´s not as simple as distance divided by time.I want something different.I have an helicopter.This helicopter is landed.He will take off with a small speed, but increasing speed.What I want is.This helicopter movement. In other words, increasing vertical speed, in a given time, say, 2.4 seconds, in a give distance, say, 100 pixels.After that he keeps vertical speed constantly. So I think the helicopter will start with its vertical speed slow, increasing, then, decreasing untill it reachs its constant vertical speed.

Professional :: Make Tweens Move At A Constant Speed?

Feb 14, 2012

I have Adobe Flash CS 5 and have been having difficulties trying to get a created tween to move at a constant speed. I have been converting a graphic I've created to a symbol and turning it into a motion tween, however I have only figured out how to move the tween on a frame by frame basis. Is there a way I can map out the full trajectory of the tween and then set it to travel along that pathway at a constant speed rather than moving from point to point within a certain number of frames? The desired result is a green circle that will bounce off the edges of the computer screen/window as it moves along at a constant speed in the appropriate direction. I am a flash novice and have been fiddling with the program for a few days

Aren't there any formular to calculate some kind of factor for this? so the lifebar would regenerate within a constant time no matter what. If the delay is 2 seconds it would just make the regen more choppy and if delay is 1 millisecond it would just update more.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Increasing Enemy Speed /cannot Seem To Change Speed

I seem to be able to manipulate the alpha of my movie clips but can't seem to trigger the speed increase.If i use a setInterval it seems to trigger the speed increase but it does it each time the movie clip is duplicated (so the delay resets, it does not change once and apply throughout)However, where I am changing the alpha I cannot seem to change the speed.
