Action Script :: Pop Up A Small "load Movie" To The Left ?
Apr 28, 2009
I udnerstand the basic concepts of the FLash Environment. What gets me is the action scripts because I'm not a coder I can handle the simple elements .Here is what I need it to do. I have a "dot" that shows up on the screen and when either mouseover or release, I need it to pop up a small "load Movie" to the left (which I have managed to do)...here's what it's doing and not doing.
1) it deletes the dot and doesn't bring it back
2) I have other "dots" and when they are pressed I need the one "loadMovie" file to go away and hte other to show up.
I have tried the gottoandstop the gotoandplay, all kinds of things and nothing works.
As part of my brief, I have to create a small flash movie that will load a random quote (which is actually a jpeg image), fade it in to view, display it for a length of time (probably only 3-5 seconds), fade it out and then load another random quote. Is this possible to do, purely using actionscript? I can randomly load an image - I used the "Random Background Image" tutorial on this site - but getting the fading/pausing/fading then moving to another quote has got me stumped.
The images are imported into their own swf file that is loaded into a placeholder movie on the html page. I tried adding in a for loop to the individual swf and the placeholder movie, to loop through alpha property of the image (just to fade up for the moment, till I get it working) - but this didn't work at all. I could use tweens for the fading, but this could end up a mess and more work than it needs to be as there could be quite a lot of quotes added over time.
I have not been dealing with flash for a very long time and was never fantastic beyond basic script assist code. I am using Flash CS3 to design a site and wish to load image galleries in so as to keep the overall size of the site down, however I am using what I remember to have worked code wise:
on (press) { loadMovie("icon_regent.swf", "holder");
The SWF is working perfectly on my computer but when I publish it using dreamweaver CS3 the movies don't load, they don't even show when in playback mode in DW.
I have a external swf that I want to load into a holder on my main main mc how can I get it to load once the play head hits that keyframe? I have tried an OnEnterFrame but it gives me an error?Below would be the code I would enter after the event handeler:
I figure that it unloads the movie and doesn't get to the second action so it just shows a blank because if i don't unload the movie, it'll load a movie overtop of the old one. All of the stuff I found that could potentially help are overly complicated with variables and large amounts of code. Is a crazy amount of code required?
I am trying to load a movie clip in a RollOver action inside another movie clip, but I have 2 problems:
1. If I do it with loadMovie("movie.swf") I cannot go back to my previous instance when the movie stops playing, but if I do it with the loadMovieNum("movie.swf", 1), it gets back to the previous instance, but it leaves that instance behind, so it keeps appearing all the time on the back.
2. Even though I see the swf when I publish it from Flash, when I insert the swf in Dreamweaver, I cannot see the swf that I loaded in layer 1. I only see the first layer and nothing happens when I RollOver.
I have a base that contains a load movie action loading "drag_bar.swf" into an mc called "content".drag_bar is a drag menu i created. It works when its opened by itself but doesnt work once it has been loaded into the base file.I know its because the AS in it contains the word "root" but when i changed it to "this", it still didnt work.
So when you load a picture into a movie clip, it loads into the Top-Left hand corner.I really want it to load into the Top-Right hand corner. Is there a way?I am loading it via AS - not placing it manually, as I have a variety of images which are of different dimensions....
I have a series of thumbnails that should scroll from left to right & right to left when you roll over the movie clip buttons on either side. IT was working in another flash movie, but I moved it to a different flash file and now it's not working. The hit buttons within the movie clip buttons have this action script:
I have a rotaing menu that loads in images from an xml file, I would also like it to load in text info from the same xml file to the left side of the images that load in. In my main .fla have created a movieclip and called it 'textInfo' and inside that I have two dynamic text fields called 'headerText' and 'bodyText' where I want to load the text in. this is what I am using to loading in the text in my actionscript, is this correct?
I can't figure out why this wont work consistently. I have a few containers in a column that load small swf files on run time. My code which always works in the past, looks like this:
Code: client1.loadMovie("interactive/rocksolid_cs.swf"); client2.loadMovie("interactive/malibuchronicle_cs.swf"); client3.loadMovie("interactive/spod_cs.swf"); client4.loadMovie("interactive/chicknecessities_cs.swf"); and so on.
The issue is that sometimes, this works perfectly. I load the page and the files load. Then, randomly other times, only parts of the external swfs load. All of the external swfs have static text on one layer, then a rollover movieclip on the others. The times when it doesn't work correctly, usually the text loads, but the movieclips don't. I don't understand why this isn't working, but I need it to 100% of the time.
I'm developing a little site for a friend. Though the filesize is v. small and it seems to load quickly, there is a delay playing. There are many objects duplicated in AS so undoubtedly this is the problem, but is there any way of initializing them so that the delay is slower? I'm using flash cs3.
I'm trying to load jpgs to my scrollpane dynamically.I noticed the compiled scrollpane component in flash 8 is very large in size (> 130kb) which i cannot afford to use. Instead I'm using the flash 6 scrollpane which is not precompiled and only several kbs after compiling to swf. However, I have problem rendering loaded dynamic contents onto the pane. The first load after starting flash 8 was always successful. After that, it fails. In case anyone's interested, I have simple test code to demonstrate the problem, and have uploaded it to http:[url]... (you'll need to wait for 10 secs before the download button appears on that linked page).I'm just wondering what is the best choice of a small size scrollpane that handles dynanimic MovieClip.loadMovie() well.
It's pretty common on many Architectural and Engineering sites to have a small movie on the home page. For example: URL... I've made similar movies for my websites using flash, and there always seems to be a lag and an image icon while the movie to loads. Here is a site where the movie loads unnoticeably: hensonarchitect com. Is there a way to use flash and have the movie load without an image icon placeholder? The flash movie that I have in mind is only 90kb, so a preloader isn't needed.
i sort of asked this before but never got a clear responce to it. this is sort of a two part question. one i have a dynamic gallery of images with a small picture that you click on that loads a bigger picture. I would love to be able to just have one photo that loads into the bigger mc and also the small mc. right now what i am doing is making two size photos a small 47x47 and a large141x141. does anyone know how i can use the same photo for both mc's second question. if that works will it make the small photos take forever to load since their sorce is a large photo?
How many small size movie clips can I store in the library. On the stage I randomly use 6 of them but this random clips will come from an array full of 3500 m.clips. Is it reasonable , or should I use another way like using xml files.
I need assitance in creating start button to a small flash movie I created.I like to put start button on very fist frame of the move .I did incest actionscrip stop() to prevent of it start running on load but now I need a button and scrip to start running. My skill in action script are limited.I try create simbol as button or movieclip.
I have found some code on the web that loads a picture from a folder into a movie clip, and cyle with fadeOut and fadeIn to the next picture by using left and right arrow. I have made some changes to this code by having the pictures cycle with a timer and I also added a group of 6 movie clips for a total of 7 with their own set of picture arrays. So far so good however I am trying to get the fadeOut and FadeIn with a small delay from each other but always in the same order. In other words I want to have clips 1 to 7 fadeOut with a small delay of maybe .5 sec. between each and same thing when the next picture fades in.
Here is the current code that is attached to the button
[code]...
Now what I am having an issue with is the gallary section is to small as it loads into the bottom of my movie (_parent). What I have decided to do is stop this process all together and have it go to a new url in a new window. Which is basic for you guys. If I take out the code under the on (release) section is it just a matter of a gotourl to get the page to open. The website is www.daemondesigns.com and originally was purchased as a template and so far have been able to put in all the new graphics and make text changes correctly with a few minor adjustments still needed. Ive got a book on actionscript 3.0 that I am just starting to make my way through but have a deadline that I may not make for this new gallery.
I'm not sure how to describe what I'm seeking, but basically I have a movie loaded in a clip and when the user clicks a button, I want the loaded movie to perform some kind of action (fade out or whatever) while the new movie is loaded.
Is it possible for action script to import audio files into the flash movie while the movie is playing. (Instead of manually importing a file from within the flash application) Or some way to load an audio file located at a remote url, that is not preloaded, and play it.I've searched through the action script reference guide, but have found nothing to do the job.
trying to build a movie which has an intro animation (small one) using a tweening-playground, build a preloader into an mc that innitializes when the intro is done buuuuut it goes kinda weird, i uploaded the mc so if you could take a look at it
I wrote this code that loads and unloads object to the screen. But have small issue. When i press the CityButton it loads the object... i dont want the villageButton or anything to be selectable until the CityButton is pressed again which causes the loaded city object to be removed
/*//this is the button events for each name*/cityButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler);villageButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler2); /*this is the boolean that decides if all is true or false when obj loadedalso creat class
i am creating a flash website, i have a preloader at the start of the site. My problem is that when i view it as it would be seen on a browser the preloader doesn't appear straight away. i have an image with the preloader (site logo) and is 182kb file size and am guessing that this picture needs to load first for the next action to happen. if htis is so, other then reducing the file size is there anyway to make the preloader appear straight away.
Have a flash picture slide show that fades in and out to transition from picture to picture. Would like to use a shared object so that when someone goes to the next page it will load on the picture it left of at. Should the shared object load at the last state or should it save the frame position? The movie has so many pictures that people will only see the first couple pictures every single time they change pages and never get to the end of the movie. This was made in Flash CS5
Load the link in as a flashvar and allow the Flash to open the URI
Load the link into the Flash file using AJAX/AJAH and allow the Flash open the URI
Just have the Flash file call a Javascript function that opens the URI
Is one of these methods better than the other(s)?
I'm working in a CMS, so each method requires a different process to edit/control the link. In #1, the editor needs to open the Flash node and add the path to a flashvar. In #2, the editor just needs to add the path as an anchor with a specific ID to a page (or XML). In #3, the paths could be stored in many different ways. The links aren't known when the Flash files are created, so they can't be embedded in the Flash. Is there a performance/efficiency/compatibility/good reason to use #1 over #2 or #3, etc?
Background; I want to load a global variable from a button action, and use this global variable to point to a frame named with what I'm gonna set the variable to, for instance a global variable of 1 will trigger a movie clip with a to play to a frame named 1.
I've set _global.x = 1 from a button instance withing an on(rollOver) block, and it shows up fine through trace(_global.x) from within a separate movie clip instance (within the same scene/timeline), but when I tried to use it in gotoAndPlay using the syntax gotoAndPlay(_global.x) it doesn't work. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I just don't know what.
