p1 is the instance of the movie which I am trying to move with slider. When I apply above code on the handle of the slider with instance name 'handle' everything works perfect. Slider moves and so do the movie. Now instead when I bring the same code to the main timeline to do the same, onClipEvent does not work, it gives error. So I replaced it with the code written below. Now I can move the handle but movie is not moving.

I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.

I have a file comprised of 1 scene and two movie clips. The clips are instanced into the Main Timeline and occupy Frames 1 and 2 respectively.MovieClip1 is an animation that has navigation buttons that appear at the end of the clip. I'm trying to get mouse click navigation to make Frame 2 on the Main Timeline active.

Here is what I'm trying but it is not working:

this takes the animation to Frame 2 of the Movie Clip Timeline not Frame 2 the Main Timeline.

I've loaded a clip (with a stop() and a trace() on the first frame) in my main swf but somehow when it's loaded and added on the stage it neither stops nor do the trace command, here's my code:

The problem is that all the syntax I have found for targetting clips looks like this: _root.sample_mc.sample2.mc. etc. The problem is, my target clip is in an swf that I've loaded into a container clip from my main timeline. So, essentially, I have a home.swf that loads menu.swf into a container called 'location'. In menu.swf, I have an MC called center, which contains the MC I am targetting called 'target'.

I have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.

I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

So I have been trying to figure out a way to control multiple clips using the same "on press" & "on release" statements located on 1st frame of main timeline. A variable is being set to a value that correlates to the name of each movie clip as an interaction occurs.Ex: user clicks from a selection of buttons & depending on the button clicked it sets clipNum = "1" through "21".What I want is to have something like the following code that will give the user the ability to click and drag the clip with code on the main timeline similar to the following:

So, I drew a circle using the ellipse tool, I selected the black cursor, clicked on the circle, F8 - made it into a Movie Clip. I'm currently creating a slideshow effect when you have a series of MC's from left to right and when you rollover one of the movie clip's, it expands 150%. That i got down. However, I want it where when this occurs, the clip appears in front of all the other clips in the sequence and right now only a portion of it does. The other portions appears behind one of the MC's to the right. How can I alleviate this using AS3 code?

On my main timeline I have two movie clips sitting side by side in frame1. They are called content_mc and content_mc2. Those are their respective names in the library and as instances. Now, I have a button in content_mc in which I am looking for the following behavior. When I click it, I want the timeline inside
content_mc2 to jump to frame2. MovieClip(parent).gotoAndStop(2); This code would be just dandy if I wanted to go to frame 2 of the main timeline, but I cannot find, for the life of me, how to go up one level (parent) and then specify down a new level (content_mc2). In other words, where do I put "content_mc2" in this syntax?

I'm designing an interface which lets the user control the timeline of a movie clip, by dragging a slider up or down with the mouse. And I can now drag the slider around, an archivement for which I am way proud. But I have some problems:

1) When the user drag the curser away from the slider movie clip and let go of the mouse buttom, the MOUSE_UP is not detected. I need a way to detect a MOUSE_UP in general.

2) The current frame of mcTheAnimation should always be locked to the vertical position of the slider. How do I access the timeline of that movie clip?[URL]..

I've created a frame by frame in the first layer of the timeline and in the second layer (above the first) another one with a keyframe in wich I've inserted another movieclip with some alpha tween (a kind of slideshow).

The problem is that when i test/publish the project, the frame by frame layer playes but the slideshow does not play at all, unless i extend in the main timeline with the F6 shortcut. If anyone has an ideea what is wrong please help me. Ty.

I'm trying to play the timeline forward or backwards by either pressing and dragging left or pressing and dragging right. I can't figure this out.

I have been using instances of buttons to do this but I don't want to use buttons I just want to be able to press anywhere on the screen and weather I drag left or right the movie plays, if I stop pressing the movie stops playing on its current frame.

Where do you put your code in flash? Do you put it all on the main timeline? Do you put in on the objects ? Where is the best place and why ? I followed a few tutorials where all of the code was on a layer in the main timeline (for arrangement). I kind of liked that but as I advanced in flash I started having problems with specifying the hole path for every movie clip (sometimes 7,8 embeded movieclips). I find it much more easier to just put the code on the movie clip itself. What is your method and why?

Movie Clip Symbol Won't Play On Main Timeline

I've created a movie clip symbol with it's own animation on its timeline. I've placed this symbol onto the first frame of the main timeline but when I test it, it doesn't play. There's no stop actions or anything on either timelines so I'm not sure why this is happening. I thought that the animation in a movie clip symbol will automatically play (i.e. if you test in a browser) once it's on the main timeline - is this right? Or am I doing something wrong. Maybe I need to tell it to play?

I'm in the process of designing this site as a portfolio for my art and am in the process of creating and laying out the galleries. My idea was to create movie clip animated buttons that would react to the roll over stuff. I got that part to work the way I wanted it. But now, I can't seem to figure out how to put a "Gotoandplay" type of code on the buttons so that the timeline would jump to the appropriate frame and play. (I put an "on(release) gotoandplay" on it the way I would put it on a button but it never responds. I have a couple of buttons that work fine with a "geturl". so I thought a "gotoandplay" would work fine. If this can be figured out in a way that I can easily use it for all buttons with just the frame number needing alteration, that would be best. After you click the splashpage door jpg, there will be a piece of paper on the floor. That is a button which should trigger the animation that starts at frame 114. When clicked, the page lifts up and spread open to two pages. But it never reacts

I'm trying to control the root timeline from a movie clip. On the last frame of the movie clip, I have:

MovieClip(root).gotoAndPlay (10);

which successfully brings me back to frame 10 on the main timeline. However, from here, none of the ActionScript that is on Frame 1 seems to work... the rollovers aren't working, except on those embedded in a separate movie clip.
