ActionScript 1/2 :: Detecting A Simultaneous Mouse Click And Keyboard Imput

I am making the board game Shogi in actionscript 2 and I have a question on how to detect a particular imput.I have a movie clip on the stage, I want it so that if I hold down the keyboard button "p" and then click on the movie clip, it will go to the movie clip's frame 2 (not the entire flash project's frame 2, just the particular icon's frame 2. I need this because I am using movie clips as game pieces and in Shogi, certain game pieces can be promoted. I also was wondering how to detect what frame it is on.

I know that datagrid can detect changes of single mouse click with

I have been been testing for keyboard events one key at a time. Now I want to test two keys being pressed or released at the same time. I am unclear on how to do this. Do I need to indicate this intention in the functions parameter

So I'm trying my hand at writing my first tower defense game and I've discovered a snag. One part of the game involves keyboard input, but if I click on an object to create a tower, then the keyboard stops responding until I click on the background. My keyboard listeners are attached to the stage and the object being clicked is a button in a MovieClip added to the game's MovieClip.

I have a key.addlistener setup to listen to key events. What I want to be able to do is to dispatch key events by for example a mouse click or just on load. I've tried a lot of possible solutions such as dispatchEvent with type as "onKeyDown" and "keyDown" etc.... but key listener simply do not treat it as a keyboard event.

I have a 4 frame game that moves from frame to frame depending on what the player does.On the first frame, I have an intro and a button to get to the main portion of the game, frame 2.  The frame loads up and the game code runs, but until the player clicks again on the stage, the keyboard controls do not function.The code for the button is straight forward. AS3 :: Flash - Stop Simultaneous Browser And SWF Mouse Wheel Scrolling?

Essentially, I have flash content that scrolls on mouse wheel. It works fine, unless there is other content in the browser such that the browser's scrollbar is enabled - when that is the case, both the browser window AND my SWF scroll on mouse wheel. Is there any way to correct this behavior?

But the solution does not work on all browsers! While it works on some Windows browsers, it doesn't work at all on Mac OS X - it registers mouse wheel events in Firefox, but they are not getting fired at all in Chrome and Safari.

Now I know that (per the official Adobe InteractiveObject docs) mouse wheel is supposedly only supported on Windows systems, but the event is still fired by default on Mac OS X. Is this simultaneous scroll bug the reason it is not supported?

Note that the above solution basically uses ExternalInterface to send the following JavaScript to the "eval" function:

I was working on some simple keyboard movement for an AS3 game, but running into trouble. Some keys would work, some won't!.I started a new flash just to test the keyboard, and confirmed what I was seeing. Some keys like "D" will work, while others like "A" don't seem to. Here is the code from the keyTest program.

So when I press D or W, this flash outputs "68 down" or "87 up" or whatever as intended. But if I press keys like A or S, it outputs nothing. Wut?

I'm confused about AS3's key handling. I just want a script that goes "If "R" is pressed, gotoAndStop(#). While in AS2 this was extremely easy, many examples I see now have variables in them. So all I know so far:

I am trying to detect the key down event for the alt key in flex. I have a standard event listener for KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN and KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP but don't get any response for the alt key (or ctrl key).

I know I can detect if the alt key was pressed via a mouse event, but I want to update the cursor when the alt key is pressed to show it will perform a different action from when it's not pressed.

I am using Safari on a Mac for developing so let me know if perhaps it's an isolated issue.

I'm working with a MovieClip ("mainMenuItem") that is linked to a Class ("GenericMenuItem.as") that uses attachMovie to add another movieclip ("Arrow") to mainMenuItem as follows:mcArrow = this.attachMovie(prefix+"Arrow", "_Arrow_symbol", this.getNextHighestDepth());I'm able to use on(release) within the Class definition to capture clicks on the mainMenuItem component, but haven't been able to find a way to detect a click on the "Arrow" library item that gets attached to that component.

I need to be able to detect a MOUSE_LEAVE on the instant the mouse leaves the stage no matter if the mouse is DOWN or UP. This seems to be impossible or a limitation in AS3. The MOUSE_LEAVE only gets dispatched if mouse is UP or after the mouse is released outside stage. Is there any API like isMouseOutsideStage instead of using listeners which i can use instead? stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT) is also not applicable because whenever my slide show changes images, MOUSE_OUT of stage gets dispatched which is undesirable.

The code below works perfectly where it detects a release or release outside if event.target is other than myButton. The weird thing or perhaps an undesirable behavior is that if i release outside stage, event.target equals myButton thus detecting a "release" instead of "release outside". I think that when we release outside stage, the want event.target to be null.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Some MCs Not Detecting Mouse Events?

I've just hit a really strange bug with a program I'm creating. The program allows the user to add shapes (currently all squares: SmallThing, MediumThing and LargeThing) to an area of the screen, then drag them about by clicking and draging using the mouse. Pretty simple. Unfortunately, the code seems to be failing for the smaller shapes (they're not THAT small, currently the smallest shape is 32 x 32) which are not generating mouse events at all. I have used trace statements to verify this. I am having a few issues with the larger shapes ocassionally not registering mouse up events, but I can live with this - the main issue is with the small shapes not being moveable.

All the shapes are descended from the same super class, and have the same event listeners added to them when they are created.
 
Here are the relevant functions in my Screen class. It's all pretty basic code so I really can't see what the problem is.

I wanna detect the direction of mouse movement. If the mouse moves tpwards the left or right of its currrent position, i want to detect it. Is there anyway to identify such movement. Actually i am implementing a 360 degree rotation of  image. That means , if the mouse moves along the left side of its current position, then the image should move along its left side, otherwise it should move along the right side.
