ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Loaded Exterior Movie Clip?
Jan 3, 2009
I'm trying to dynamically load an exterior movie clip Showreel.swf into the movie clip loader_mc. I want it to have a preload bar, and with the source file I have all this code and objects are held within the first frame of the first scene. This works fine, but if I move the loader_mc elsewhere, (in this instance, frame 40 of the next scene it doesn't work?
Im confused because from the book i'm using I thought that this code has instantiated all the objects, so that I can keep the code in frame 1, as I understand is best practice, but bring the objects in when I need them on the timeline?
Here is my code:
ActionScript Code:
var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var loadListener:Object = new Object();
loadListener.onLoadStart = function() {
I have a project that requires manipulation of a movie clip (swf file). This clip is called clip_mc.I have functions such as:[code]If I add to the stage the swf and call it clip_mc, then everything is fine and it all works - BUT I have a few of these files that need to be loaded when the button is clicked.I understand the loader() class and the addChild class but cant get my head around bringing them all together!so essentially I would like to know; How to dynamically load the swf and name it clip_mc so that the functions will work?!
I am making an image gallery and have so far got buttons that display a group of movie clips inside another movie clip. onclick { _root.attachMovie ("group","group",1) } or something, from the top of my head.
I now need to make it so that each movie clip inside "group" displays another movie clip, "image". How do I do this, seeing as they are dynamically loaded?
I have a movie clip which is having dynamically loaded image. I want to preload it. how do i make a preloader for a movie clip.I used loader component for preloading images. And its work fine. But I have various images which are loading in a single movie clip when user clicks on a particular button.so i want to develop a preloader for a movie clip. And my client also doesn't want that simple look of a loader component. That's why i will can use any free preloader. But how to assign it to a movie clip which is having dynamically loaded images.
i've looked at several ways to centre a dynamically loaded image into a movie clip for the purpose of zooming the image once loaded. I am loading multiple images (16 in total) at a time and they are all 360 x 360 in size. So what i want to do is set 180,180 to be the centre of the loaded image.
This sounds easy to me but in practice i'm finding it impossible (although i know it isn't as i've seen similar examples doing this).
I've been trying to load a movie clip from a movie clip that has been loaded. I am trying to provide a simple means to change the look / feel of the flash application by placing the graphics and controls into a second swf. Each different screen is represented by a different movie clip that is in the second swf. So I've got app.swf loading ui.swf. I want to load screen1_mc from ui.swf.
The app.swf is loaded by a master swf. There may be multiple copies of the app.swf that can be loaded by the master.swf and each app.swf could be configured differently. For each "unique" app.swf it is stored under a unique folder that is not known to me in advance. Since I don't know the unique folder in advance, I can't use import / export for runtime sharing. Is there any way to load the movie clips from the loaded movie clip? (Basically, I want to treat the ui.swf as an extension to the library.)
I'm working on a flash site and I'm having some trouble with the programming for it. I'm not so great at action script, so I'm hoping that my troubles are caused by my own stupidity and that some cool smart person will have an answer for me. So, I have a main menu flash file that functions like the one in this tutorial: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/p...transition.htm I set it to load various swf files and it's works just fine. What I want to do is have it load a swf that functions exactly the same (buttons that load external clips with transitions) as the main swf- this is a sub page menu. So, in theory, the sub menu page should load the final content, and three swfs would be seen stacked ontop of each other.
I changed the instance names in the sub menu file to be different than that in the main menu file. This fixed the original problem of it loading the content clip into the clip that the sub menu should stay in. Now, It loads the sub menu just fine, but then it gets stuck and never loads the content. The sub menu buttons will not function at all. Independent of the main menu, the sub menu file works perfectly What can I do??? Does it have anything to do with the "_root"? I never understood the concept, so I'm having trouble with it.
I am targeting a a movie clip. The problem is that all the syntax I have found for targetting clips looks like this: _root.sample_mc.sample2.mc. etc. The problem is, my target clip is in an swf that I've loaded into a container clip from my main timeline. So, essentially, I have a home.swf that loads menu.swf into a container called 'location'. In menu.swf, I have an MC called center, which contains the MC I am targetting called 'target'.
I'm trying to create a script that will check different supplied filename paths, insert them into a movieclip, and retrieve the total bytes of the clip so I can determine whether or not the filename is valid. I'm having trouble with the bolded code below. Basically its checking to see if the loaded clip's bytes are more than 0. If its 0 then I know the path was wrong.I've tried using .onData and .onLoad as event handlers, and getBytesTotal and getBytesLoaded as my conditions for my following if statement. When I trace the result I get 0 even if the movie was successfully found and loaded... anyone know whats wrong?!?!

I have an ActionScript 2.0 project with a very simple timeline Alpha Tween ("Classic tween" in CS4) of a movie clip. I need to reposition the movie clip dynamically when the movie is launched, before the Tween is executed (as in "x_mc._x = 100;").
I found out that after changing the clip position the Alpha Tween as well as the Alpha final value are totally ingored. The clip is shown in the updated position but remains throughout in the Alpha setting of the first keyframe (even when it reaches the last keyframe which has a different Alpha setting). I verified that the Tween itself is executed by placing Trace statements at both keyframes. If I remove the repositioning statement, the Alpha Tween works fine (but of course in the original position which is wrong)
I'm trying to use the scroll pane component for the first time, and I've spent most of the day getting nowhere. Based on my experience with other components and with loading content into movie clips, I expected that I would point my scroll pane to its content and be off and running, but that hasn't happened.
I am making a 3d engine using formulas from a different language and its coming along nicely but I am having depth issues. How do I set the depth of an object within the script? I need the depth to change so I objects that are farther in the distance are further behind other objects.
Does anyone know if it is possible to dynamically add a movie clip to the stage with text and have the size of the movie clip dynamically generated by the amount of text?In other words I am trying to make a word bubble but the amount of text in the bubble will vary in size and I need the bubble to size accordingly. Maybe someone knows of a tutorial online that I can use. My searches have not been successful.
I am loading a swf in my main timeline in Flash CS4 using the AS3.However the movie appears on top of everything else, while I need it to be below everything else.What is the way to specify a layer or order for the loaded swf?
Im creating a booklet with turning pages, like the one previously posted, so all the content is loaded dynamically.On the right hand page i have text, of which some lines are interactive.On the left page, i have a hidden text box. When the user clicks on a certain line on the right page, the text box on the left page becomes visible, and the relevant txt is loaded into the text box.Now, i can make the text box on the left page invisible by placing _visible = 0; directly into the actionscript pane of the text box.What i cant do is make it visible by clicking on the right page text. Where should i put the code to make the text box visible?Is it as simple as movieClip._visible = 1; ?
how can I unload a movie clip which is added dynamically?can we create multiple instances of the movie clip?I am adding the movieclip dynamically as below where tLevel
//global variable var tLevel:MovieClip = this; var myMovieClip:MovieClip = tLevel.attachMovie("MyMovieClip","myMovieClip",tLe
I have a movie clip with 11 frames containing 10 different images named "thermometer". I have a dynamic text box on the root of the movie with the var name of "therm"
action script in MC "thermometer"= onEnterFrame = function() { if ((therm <= 15000) && (therm >= 0)){
i got a swf, which i've dynamically loaded into an mc called pitch_mc . After loading it want flash to stop the file from automatically playing, then have play and stop buttons that trigger the movie.
I can load movies fine, but i havent used transport buttons yet :S

I'm trying to apply CSS to text that is loaded from an external text file. Now, it works fine when I play it in the movie file "current.swf". Here is the code as it is-
Code: var format = new TextField.StyleSheet(); var path = "jbcss.css"; format.load(path); format.onLoad = function(success) { if (success) {
I'm still a noob with flash. But I'm attempting to make my website using itSo far I haveseveral swf files that are all loaded into a "index" swf file.So all the code needs to work with that chain of MC's:_root.LoadedContent_mc.LoadedContent2_mc.Page1_mcThats the path to where I am working..Page1:I'm attempting to create a downloads list here. I have a phpfile already worked out that scans the directories "downloads" and "imgs", and generates a list of file names. It then formats each file name into a path to that file. And turns each path into a variable that can be loaded into flash.So basically after php does its thing we are left with this:
I have Flash CS4 and I'm developing an RPG game. My goal is to dynamically change the weapon/armor the main hero has on according to what the player has on. I think the term is paper dolling. Basically I want to be able to set a point in which a graphic (movie clip/w.e) can be place permanently and I can load images to it via actionscript 3. I want the point to stay on the hero becuase I plan to move him and animate him and I want to be able to have it so that all it takes is me loading an image to the hero so it will basically "mask" over him. Hope you guys understand what I'm saying, I'm having a hard time figuring this out.
