Nov 12, 2006I started creating a site using the Smooth Transition tutorial and came upon a problem and would like to ask for some advice. I was able to go through the tutorial without any problems. I than moved my button(s) to an external swf file that gets called. No problem here as well, i just added a _root. to a few places.
Now in this swf, I have a mc and in this mc i placed the button but it stopped working. I didn't think the path would be any different but I was wrong. Here is the current AS I have with the button in the external swf's main timeline:

Flexbuilder :: Flex Transition Effects Work On 2nd And After Transition
May 18, 2010i have a flex app that transitions between 2 states with the toggle of a button. my issue is that the effect of fading only seems to work on the 2nd transition and after. However, for my first transition... going from State1 to studyState... there is no fade effect whatsoever, in fact the components in state1 disappear completely (the footer fills the empty gap where the "body" use to be) and then the flex recreates the studyState (without any fade refilling the "body" with components only in studyState). After this first transition however, going between studyState and State1 working COMPLETELY fine.. why does this happen and how can i make it so that crossfade works STARTING FROM THE VERY FIRST TRANSITION?[code]

Jun 7, 2010ok what i'm trying to do is make a transition so letters get typed up and then a tween will be applied and will be tweened down to about middle of screen. here is what i have so far:

the problem is i have the typing but i've had alot of trouble with tweening side of things. i figured i might be able to create a new textfield for every letter assign the letter to it then tween it. but getting the positioning perfect would be a pian and i have no idea how to continure form this point on.

Apr 23, 2010I am trying to create a page transition that will play a movieCLip transition into a page. and then it stops then when another button is pressed, it will play that transition out while loading the appropriate one. In the attached FLA, if you click on the red button first, the blue transition plays,

and then stops on the stage. When you click the green button second,

it works correctly/ Playing out of the blue Transition and into the Red transition. However if I click it again it does the opposite, and just keep alternating.
If I add the
_root.transitionClip2.play("out");
to the first button then, nothing works right. I will eventually have more buttons, and may need to use a variable to control which "out" transitions is played, but how do I get the buttons to do this?I just want it to exit the current movie clip and play the "in" section of the desired clip.

Oct 11, 2009i have looked everywhere for a tutorial on this - i have tried writing, and re-writing codes....i just cant get it. is there any tutorial i overlooked? here is what im looking to do - NO SHORTCUTS: have my main file that loads the buttons, my external swf container, my intro animations, and my swf "out" and "in" animations when a button is clicked i want it to point me to specific frame labels. i will have an "out" and "in" frame label and which will be the locations of the transitional starting points i want it to play the "out" transition, than unload the current swf, than play the in transition, than load the swf of the button that was clicked i want the animations to all be done using frame labels all within the MAIN swf file.... i have had no luck doing this....and i do NOT like the tween class....

I am using the following code, but whenever I try to launch the external web site, I get prompted by Adobe Flash Player Security saying that it has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. It then tells me that I need to change my security settings in order to view the website. I am wondering if there is any way around stopping the security check, or is this built into Flash?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Text File From Different Web Site?
Nov 13, 2008I want to load some text data from a third party web site (I guess I need to use URLLoader) but everything I'm reading says the Flash player security will prevent this because it's coming from a different domain.isn't there any way around this? How else could a Flash RSS reader work - you can't possibly get all web site sources to include a cross-domain policy file. I would have to believe there must be some way to load text from an arbitrary URL.

Dec 2, 2009I have build a flash form that uses php to save variables to a web folder on my site in a text file. There is a .swf file with dynamic txt fields in the same folder it which pulls the data from the txt file. It doesnt seem to pull it as real time as I would like. sometime just once and not after that.When I update the form the text file saves to the web folder ok, but I have to refresh the link to pull the data in or empty browsing history etc.is there a way around anyone can think of so everytime I update the flash form the data come in straight away or after a few seconds.

Dec 1, 2010I'm taking a flash website template purchased by a friend and configuring to suit his business. Yesterday, I viewed the .swf file from my local machine, and everything looks exactly as it should. I also uploaded to my server to view live on the web in a couple different browsers, and everything was fine. Today, I uploaded a newer edit to the site and the .xml file to test the browser compatibility, and the text in my navigation has disappeared, and the content text is double spaced, causing major alignment and much of the text to remain unseen. This leaves the viewer unable to see which pages they are navigating to and they will see a poorly developed site.
To sum it up...it looked fine yesterday, then after some edits to both the source .fla and an .xml file that provides the content, i have issues after uploading it to the web.

Feb 16, 2005I have a dynamic text box on the _root level of my movie that loads an external text file. When I test it in Flash (MX2004) locally the text shows up just fine. But when I upload it to the site it doesn't show at all. I'm exporting as Flash 6. I just want to display as html text and not embed font (if possible). Also, there are no masks on the _root level.

Jan 12, 2007Basically I have a photography site that I update regularly with client images and new information, but me and flash doesn't exactly get on! I bought a flash template and have spent about a month fiddling about and slowly learning how flash works, and my knowledge of flash (non-existant) has shot up dramatically, but there are still things that baffle me. Is there any way of having an area on the page which looks at an XML for the information - text in some cases and photographs in another? How to layout the xml.

Everything tests fine in flash. I also placed the file in Dreamweaver and previewed in a browser - that's working. But... I've now uploaded the file to a live site. May 19, 2011I have an AS3 file that pulls an XML feed from a site. All the file does is display a number in a dynamic text box. On my desktop it works fine the feed is parsed in the output window and in the dynamic text box, joy! I upload the file to the CMS we are using and, no joy all I get is 'Loading' in the window. I get Loading because I input that in the tf so it wouldn't be blank.
So the question is, is there a fundamental flaw in my code or is it more likely to be the CMS? Im hoping it is the code, otherwise it is back to the drawing board.

My problem is that the email is supposed to contain only a name and an email address which the user wrote in the form.
