ActionScript 2.0 :: Incremental Preloader Bar - Alpha (Fully Transparent)

How can I script a preloader bar where the percentage loaded is directly proportionate the the _alpha of the bar so that 0% loaded would make the preloader bar 0% alpha (fully transparent) and...well you get the point. How could I do this?

Preloader Bar Fully Loaded But Movie Does Not Play

I built a pretty simple Flash movie for a client and put a preloader on frame 1. The preloader works fine then the movie plays. What is happening is if you go to another page on the site and then go back to the home page all you see is the preloader bar fully loaded but the movie doesn't play. You have to refresh the page for the swf to play again. It is doing it to me in Firefox but not IE 8 and it is doing it in IE8 on my clients computer...

[CS3 AS2]. I'm having trouble preloading a site I'm working on. I think I'm doing it correctly but the preloader page dosen't show up until its done loading. Then jumps straight to the 2nd frame because its loaded. I'm just doing a simple animation on frame 1 (as the preloader anim.) then when its finished loading, goToAndPlay frame 2.

I've been developing in AS2 for a few years now, and I'm learning AS3 at the moment. I ran into a problem about setting alpha on a PNG image.

I have a movieclip that holds a semi-transparent PNG image which comes straight from the library. Now I want to edit the alpha property of the movieclip. In AS2 it all works fine but when I set the alpha property in AS3 all semi-transparent pixels in the PNG image will fill with black first; then the alpha setting is applied.

Do I need to save my PNG's in particular way or do I need to edit settings in Flash to display correctly?

I'm having a strange issue with an incremental rotator. Using Tweener, i just want a square to rotate by 15 degrees each time the stage is clicked. This works perfectly until the rotation get larger than 200. At that point the square spins a full loop before landing on the correct location. All I'm looking for is to have it be +=15 from where it currently is.[code]

Making a line chart with 20 increments that draws itself across the screen as the user drags an icon.Works great using lineTo as the user moves the icon to the right.But I do not see a method to get the line to disappear step by step as the user drags the icon the opposite way, to the left.I could always animate with a non-actionscript line, using a mask that moves left and right, but I was hoping there was some actionscript command that could clear the previous segment of the line drawn, without having to redraw the entire line. clear(); gets rid of the entire line, not individual segments.

I'm making an activity that involves measuring the depth of a fictitious river at various points. I have an array containing those depths at the various points and a slider for traversing through the depths and outputting to a textfield.

As the user moves the slider up and down, they can see the depth of the river at that point and plot it onto a graph. What I would like to do is be able to figure out the depths inbetween the explicitly defined values.

Is there a way to automatically generate a build number for my swfs? Ideally, this should be available as a variable so it can be shown when the application or module runs, and should increment whenever I click save or build or debug. I've seen vague references to ANT being able to handle this, but have no clue how to implement that functionality into either Flash or Flex Builder... I'd assume an XML or TXT file somehow gets updated via ANT and would then be compiled into the swf???

I'm trying to draw PNGs onto BitmapData that is transparent.

I create my BitmapData like this (using ARGB for the color):

new BitmapData(width, height, true, 0x00000000);

And clean it by using the same ARGB value:

bitmapData.fillRect(bitmapData.rect, 0x00000000);

When I use copyPixels() to draw graphics onto the cleaned BitmapData, I get this result:

If I don't use ARGB for the BitmapData color, it works fine:

But I have to specify a solid fillColor, meaning I can't render what's behind the Bitmap.

How can I make my BitmapData transparent, but not have the above occur?

I am creating a map in flash cs4 with all the countries on it. I used photoshop for creating the map and separated countries. Now I imported all pngs in Flash and I want to give Mouse CLICK event and Mouse Hover on all pngs, but as the transparent pixels are overlapping the other states, it is getting difficult. So, I converted all pngs in movieclips and now then I broke up pngs. Now I want to delete all pixels having alpha 0 using eraser tool, as per the borders. And I have to do it manually for individual countries. So is there a way to remove transparent pixels from the bitmap data?

I have two png's that kind of look like paint brush strokes. they have some transparency in them that lets the stage colour bleed through a bit.

I am adding two of these images to the stage in AS 3. One adds quite fine - looks as expected. The second one however doesn't have any transparency other than around its edges. What i mean is it looks more like GIF than a PNG. Rough around the edges, no transparency "inside" the image itself (where there should be)

i have tried re-creating the image (yes it IS a PNG) which did nothing. I ensured the library item is not being treated as a JPEG. I also even tried externally calling the PNG to see if that made a difference. Unfortunately it did not.

why this second PNG doesn't seem to have a transparency set?

I am making my website by loading each of the external pages in to the main swf file. I've used a tutorial and it manages to load all of the correct pages when the corresponding button is pressed, however I can tell that the Unload isn't working because each page has audio and I can hear them playing over the top of each other when I navigate through the pages.

I'm using a preload function with the Movie Clip Loader. Everything works like it should except the external swf's will play before they are fully loaded. At first I only had one frame in each swf, and they wouldn't show up until 100%. Then i added some animations, and now they play out at around 60% loaded.

I know I can fix it with stop() on the first frame and tell it to play after 100%, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or is it something common with MCL and i just wasn't aware of it.
