ActionScript 2.0 :: Playing An MC While Preloader Is Running?

On Actionscript I found this really cool smooth preloader [URL]..In my example you see a pink button. This button sets the to be loaded SWF in a var and commands the Cover Over image to play (cover). After the Cover MC had reached the over-state (frame 15), there is a loadBar + an action giving a loadMovie command (it needs to be loaded into a MC called content)

They have an MC or something play and then a preloader and then addtional MCs...
Is it really just an MC that plays and then a preloader and then an MC? I thought we had to have a preloader at the beginning of our site.

Below is the action script to load an external .swf and display the preloader (typical 100 frame). My problem is that, the .swf will begin to play behind the preloader as the content is still loading, it will not wait for the content to fully download. I appear to have everything setup almost exactly like most of the MovieClipLoader tutorials i've seen and I cannot fix this problem.

View 1 RepliesSo, I have this file with a couple buttons. When each button is clicked it opens an external swf image. While the external swf is loading a preloader shows 1...100. I want to have a movie symbol also show up while the external swf is loading. How would I do that? Can I have it only show when the event starts, then have it disappear when the event completes..
I have my two buttons on one layer, actions on a second layer, and preloader counter on third layer.

I've just built my first preloader, and the first time loading it, it works great in Internet Explorer 8 (with latest flash player), but on reload or on reopen of browser, it doesn't autoplay the second scene (main scene). Works great in Firefox and Chrome.
I've searched the internet up and down with no luck on solving this problem.

Yet another dilemma with my external SWFs. How do I get the external SWF to only begin playing once the preloader ahs finished loading the complete file. Currently when the SWF file comes it has already started playing part way through the file.

View 2 RepliesI just followed Lee Brimelow's 'Preloading in Actionscript 3.0' tut - it was easy to follow and implement. However, when I upload my files to my webserver to test, the .swf that I'm loading begins to play before the preloader completes. Actually, to be precise, the main swf has an audio file in the background that begins before the preloader completes. The stage of the main swf doesn't appear until the preloader completes. Prior to this, I was using a 'scenes' method of preloading, that didn't have this problem, but I kept running into a 1009 error, so thought I'd try a different method...
Here is the actionscript for my preloader:

I have a strange problem. When I run an exe projector that I exported from flash cs5.5, and on few of my client's computers it running very slow in full screen.When I running an swf file (not exe projector), also in full screen, it running well!I checked my clients computer hardware, and it match the system requirements of flash player.

View 2 RepliesI created a swf which loads multiple external swfs to 100% before playing. Which works fine. If I stop a clip while it's loading, I call loader.close() and I'm able to resume from where I left off at a later time. The problem I'm having is when I added the functionality to load the next clip while the current clip is playing. To be clear, I'll refer to the normal preloader as preloader, and the preloader which loads the next clip as pre-preloader. If the pre-preloader loads to 100%, everything is good. The next clip will play immediately without having to wait. If, however, the pre-preloader for the next clip is stopped at any point before 100%, the preloader will start loading at 0%.
With that being said, If I go back to the previous clip (which was previously already playing), the pre-preloader will pick back up where it left off, then if I go forward again, the preloader will pick up where IT left off.

I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

View 1 RepliesI have some animation (programmatic, I'm NOT using keyframed animation in timeline), and some music I want to play in the background. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. If I changed the framerate or updated the external wave file, these triggers would possibly no longer sync upIs there some sort of event listener or other detection method for an audio file to signal it has finished playing? Or maybe there is a way to get the duration of the audio file to use in the timer

Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.

So I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;
Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.
The problem I have is I click the play button and start playing. Then I click next and when I click play for another song the songs overlap. How can I stop whatever song is playing and start playing the new one? Has to stop the prev song when I click play_brn.

how to make text acting as a preloader so that its color changes as preloader percentage. i dont mean how to apply the math, i mean how to mask it or whatever action to achieve that effect?

I just started working on a preloader screen that includes a preloader mask over a logo and a percentage dynamic text. I can get either or to work but not both at the same time. I notice that if I remove stop(); I can get the percentage to work but not the preloader image. With the stop(); embedded the image preloader works but the percentage doesn't.
