I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.
I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]

What i need to do is after the last image plays, stop the movie and move the main timeline to the next scene of the main movie. Everything logical in my brain is not working, and it may be that I have been staring at this project for too long but for the life of me i can't make this work.

I have main flash file (main.swf) that will load movie clips dynamically one after the other from a source xml file. I need to check if the movie clip currently loaded is finished so that the main.swf will trigger the code to load the other movie clip. I can use both emptyMovieClip or loader component with contentPath to load the external swf files.

I'm trying to create a slideshow, using Flash CS3 and AS3. I have 6 thumbnails with buttons attached to them, and then 6 movieclip images placed on the stage manually, each on a different layer. Inside of each image MC (i.e. image01_mc is the instance name of the first image), the image is animated to enlarge outwards from the thumbnail to make a larger version of the image. Standard operating procedures, and all that. So far, the buttons successfully call upon the frame label inside the imageClips to enlarge.
The next part of the problem is that when clicking the next thumbnailButton, I want the currently enlarged image to diminish in size back to its thumbnail, so that the next image can take its place. I have a frame label inside those imageClips to make that animation.
I think, with my rudimentary understanding of AS3, that I need to find out which movie clip instance is on the stage, using If statements, with some code to gotoAndPlay the frame inside the imageClips that shrinks the image.
I've tried various combinations of If, Else if, getChildByName, etc, that I've found in numerous posts, but nothing seems to work.

View 4 RepliesWhat I was looking for is a way to check if a tween has finished for BOTH clips. I thought I could try it like this:

But I noticed that first the ending of xScaleT is triggerd after 3 secs. and after that the ending of XPosT 9 secs. later. What I want is for this.yoyo() to occur if BOTH xScaleT and XPosT have finished. There isn't something like 'onMotionFinishedAll' ?
How do i check whether an external SWF which is loaded onto a movieclip sub_mc.loadMovie("introduction_1.swf")) has finished loading or not. If the loading is done, then an animatoin inside a movieclip will be played, else the preloader continues

I'm having some difficulties on checking when an animation in a movieclip is finished. It's not a tween, otherwise I could make a tween handler with the "onMotionFinished"-property. My situation is different.My movieclip has 60 frames with each frame containing a 3D image. These 60 frames make the impression that a die is rotated in 3D.How do I check in the actions of my scene (root) when the animation is finished?
I already tried making an interval that constantly polls if a variable "finished" is set to true (which the movieclip sets to true on its last frame).This solution isn't really accurate enough due to the interval number.Setting the interval to 1 millisecond won't do any good either.Is there a listener object or something else that makes this possible?On my last frame of the movieclip is a stop() statement which might be polled by a listener?

I am trying to loop a .flv clip located in an array when that clip has finished. Do I add an EventListener.complete then play it again? Ummmm. This seems pretty pedestrian.

My big problem ist, that I dont get a check working to see if the function move() hast finished in order to fire the function open(). Is there any listener or so?

I figured out how to make the movie stop at the end so it won't loop forever, and I have a Replay button that appears and restarts the movie. But my directives have changed and I now need to know how to make the movie -- when it ends -- automatically go to and stop on frame 22 of the movie and also have that Replay button then appear when it does stop on frame 22. (Frame 1 through 22 is a gradual fade-in to the first scene, that's why I don't want the replay button to appear on frame 1).

View 5 RepliesI tried to implement a simple preloader for an existing swf movie. I've created a new flash document and added the Loader as well as a ProgressBar component. In the action script of the key frame 1, I implemented the following:

The problem is now that the movie starts playing (i.e. its sound) before the progress bar is completely finished. This usually happens around 80%. How can I avoid that the movie starts before the progress bar reaches 100%?
So, I have a site, and I want it to play an intro movie when you load the index page. I have it as LoadMovieNum (videos.htm), but I want it to play the video on that page, which is about 30 sec. long, and then redirect to another .swf page entitled index.swf.
View 3 RepliesI have an splash page with a movie that plays, after the movie is finished I want it to redirect you to the home page. The movie is sitting on 1 frame in the timeline. Is there a way to have it redirect after the movie is finished playing?

does not work. It is a dynamic site so there is no <head> tag I can put an HTML redirect in. I need to be able to do it through flash.

I'm not trying to do this with a swf file loaded into another flash movie. I need this to be done by the movie once it self has finished loading.
