where I can find a tutorial for a scroll bar and the content you are scrolling is loaded from a html file? I saw one where you can do it with a .txt file but you cant put images on it, so do you know if it is possible to load the content from a html file with images?
I followed a tutorial at [url].. on how to use swf preloading and it works and is amazing I only have one problem and that is that the content dosent load into the "holder mc" in stead it is of slighltly. what I have done wrong.http:[url].....
How can I load a swf from this xml file into a mc holder file? See code below. var myxml:XML = <node label="Root Node"><node label="Chapter 1"> <node label="Intro" image="circleImage"/> <node label="Recommended Prerequisites" image="squareImage"/> <node label="Course Navigation and Controls" image="triangleImage"/> <node label="Chapter 1 Completion" image="starImage"/></node></node>; [Code] .....
I have a rotaing menu that loads in images from an xml file, I would also like it to load in text info from the same xml file to the left side of the images that load in. In my main .fla have created a movieclip and called it 'textInfo' and inside that I have two dynamic text fields called 'headerText' and 'bodyText' where I want to load the text in. this is what I am using to loading in the text in my actionscript, is this correct?
I'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.
i have banner with 5 images fad in fade out effecti need to load images & test from external file " text file or xml file " with keeping fade effects on imagesall ways i know can't keep fading effect on images so
if i have a text field which is loading text from an external txt file and is HTML enabled, can I use <img> tags to load an image? If not, is there an equivalent?
The dilemma I currently have is that I'm hosting a resource that is application/octet-stream. In my Actionscript code, I'm using some library that ( from what I can recall ) does new Image and loads a resource into that object which was created.There is a method, loadImage(url) which accepts a url and that's where you feed it the path to the image.I do not have access to the loadImage source code, so I don't know exactly what it does, but the working one loads the image fine because the Content-Type is image/jpeg. The non-working one ( this one I'm trying to fix ) doesn't because of the different Content-Type.I'm wondering if someone can tell me if I can make the flash basically parse the URI as if it were image/jpeg, regardless of the Content-Type? [code]
I assume that Image the constructor is native to flash/AS, but I haven't been able to google the loadImage method so it must be custom, right?Or could the Image constructor itself be custom? An extended version of the original Image with loadImage method and such?Anyways, does anyone know how I can view the source code of loadImage? I did an ack-grep and found the source code for the loadImage method defined in a library:[code]Can anyone offer advice as to how I can do the loadBytes on this? I was thinking of defining a custom method, loadResource or something which can load regardless of Content-Type... or just create an optional parameter in the current load method and inside, branch out based on what was passed.
I want to load an external text file, and display loading percentage in flash,so I could show user how far loading is completed.And the problem is I can see progress in trace window,no progross message displays in the textfield,only when my text is completly loaded,the whole text shows in flash.
how or maybe where a tutorial is for scrolling a MC? I have a MC with content such as text & images etc which I am going to mask it and I want to be able to scroll it with a bar.
I am trying to preload an mp3 file dynamically while showing the typical 'percentage loaded' in a dynamic text box. However for some reason, the percentage just doesn't count up - it freezes on 100% even though the mp3 file is still loading. I have included the code that I'm using below. Also, does anyone know what would be the best way to adjust this code so that I could preload multiple mp3 files at the same time or one after another?
Trying to load a simple swf movie into my mc holder.When I preview the page on my desktop the external files loads. On the FTP server it doesn't. Why? I tried 2 scripts for an "onClipeEvent" on the empty mc holder but nothing workes. [code]Then I got recommended to use this script on an empty keyframe. It works but again, only offline.targetMc.loadMovie("floorplans/301.swf");
I turn to you for help, dear sweet Kirupa Forumites. First, let me explain the problem: I have a flash file reading an external text file for the content. Everything works perfectly for nearly everyone - you click a menu button, and the content text comes up fine. However, a couple of people have found that the text shows up as "undefined". I have checked the player versions of the people where it doesn't work, and it is the same as for those where it does work, so that ain't the problem.
I don't understand why it works perfectly for nearly everyone, but a small number of people have this "undefined" text problem. It seems to be a problem with loading the external text file, but I don't know why. I have a main flash movie, and load the text in the first frame, using the following:
var my_content = new LoadVars(); my_content.load("content.txt"); my_content.onLoad = function(success){ if (success){
[Code]...
I then have a couple of dynamic text boxes in the main movie - one called ErrorText (for displaying an error message to the user) and one called ContentText (for displaying the content). I use an external menu swf which jumps to a specific frame in the main movie, depending on which button is clicked. Actionscript on the main movie frame for the first button does the following, with the other frames similarly configured:
This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
I have a main swf that loads external swfs into a holderMC. How do I get a button called playnext_btn on each external swf to tell the main swf to load a new external swf into its holderMC? I used this code in the main swf to do the initial load of the first external swf into holderMC:
Code: var swfLoader:Loader = new Loader(); holderMC.addChild(swfLoader); var bgURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("benefits.swf");
I am using an array to load images into a holder_mc on my flash site. Is there a way to change the registration point at which the image loads? Currently the image loads and is justified to the top left corner of the holder. I would like to change it to the top right corner.
I use .txt files a lot with flash to load external news and updates. Although you can use the loadVariablesNum() command to load the .txt files is there anyway to edit and save the external files in flash? e.g. say I have a text box and a submit button in flash is there some way where I can add the text boxes content to a .txt file?
Is it possible to preload content before a person looking at your site requests it, for instance when your website loads and is displayed other content and pages will start preloading in a certain order with out the website user knowing?
I am using this code to download a file from a server (podcast episode mp3) but I click the submit button and nothing happens. The text field shows "Downloading episode X" but nothing happens, no browse-to-save window pops up or anything. Here is my entire code, no external.It simply uses AMFPHP to drawback results to see if the podcast episode exists. If it returns a 1, the fileReference download is triggered. I'm pretty sure the rest of the code is fine, its just the "localRef.download(requestF);" bit that seems to be doing nothing.[Code].....
I am using the load command to load content from a .txt file on my server. I have it all working just find when I preview the swf file in flash and when I view the .swf in my web browser from my server. The problem when I view the .swf file on my php page (home.php) I only get undefined variables, it seems to not be able to connect to the .txt files only when I am viewing it on my php page. Again if I view the .swf file on my server using my web browser it works fine.
Using Flash CS4 Actionscript 2 Dreamweaver CS4 Google Chrome and Opera
I'm completely new to loading XML into Flash . I'm not very good with actionscript either, but I've managed to get pretty close to what I need to achieve via tutorials.[code]...
I am trying to load a swf into a holder movie clip from the child movieclip.It's parent has a holder that i want to load a swf into.I am navigating from within a child clip.It would be nice to have the swfs load from an external xml file but it isn't mandatory.
I'm constructing a website in flash, and on each page of the website I have a dymanic text field pulling data from a .txt file for that page, (the news page has a dymanic text field called "newsText" which pulls data from "news.txt" for example) The website im working on is here: [URL] If you have a slower internet connection, whenever you click on the link to a new page, a small white square will appear in the corner before the content has fully loaded, this white square is a result of the scrollbar being disabled due to the content not being loaded yet (and thus having nothing to define wether or not it should need to scroll)
as the website grows in content this will become more and more of a problem. My actionscript ability is really limited. So whats the simplest way I can add a preloader to the page to load the content of the .txt file before displaying it?
I have developed a small website in flash 8 ... - The website has content (text) which is loaded externally - The images are also called externally with 'loader' component - I have added a preloader at the beginning of my file But still when I loaded it on the server....the images and the content is coming slowly. Some way to load the whole file completely at the time of loading (including the external content)?
