View 11 RepliesI was wondering if there was a way of making your mouse cursor stick to an object for a period of time when clicked?
eg. If i clicked "about" then the mouse would stick to that button while it slid to a new location on the stage. Once the tweening stops, you can move the mouse again.
I'm currently trying to make a class that changes the mouse cursor. I made it in a new class so that I can call it again whenever I needed it, but there are some errors and I don't know how to solve it. The class filename is Cursor. This class is not linked with the fla file.
Here's the ActionScript Code:

This class will just let me type Cursor.makeCursor(cursorMovieClip); and the cursor will change. The problem is that Flash does not recognize "addChild" and "stage". Is it because the class isn't connected to the fla? Or do I need to import some stuff in? Also, flash does not recognize "obj" in the code line

I need to know how to make a movie clip appear exactly where the user clicks.I have a button that is made up of four separate parts across the stage, and when you click a part of it, I'd like for a movie clip to appear on that button, where you just clicked.Rather than creating 4 separate movie clips (and four separate buttons) showing the same thing, can I just make one, and make it move to the location the user has clicked?Please let me know if this makes sense! Essentially, I'd like to know if there is a code that says "Make movie clip appear on location of mouse"

I've got a simple function that makes a movieclip drift over to wherever the mouse is..
It's a nicer effect than just making the mc._x and mc._y = _root._xmouse and _ymouse.. The problem I'm having is that if the mouse is in the top corner of the screen when the movie clip loads, the mc zips off to that corner too. I want the mc to stay in the middle of the screen when it loads and to move in the direction of the mouse when the mouse moves.. The mc still needs to be able to be moveable accross the entire width of the screen however.
I have tried storing the _xmouse value at the time the movieclip loads, and then offsetting my function with this value - which has the desired effect, but prevents the mc from being able to be moved all the way to the edge of the screen.. Hope that makes sense - Has anyone got any solution to this?

As of Flash 10.2, Flash supports hardware accelerated mouse cursors:[URL]..Unfortunately, the mouse cursor doesn't update until AFTER the mouse moves. You can see this behavior on the web page above. If you click "Set to custom cursor" in the sample app at the bottom of the article, you'll see that the cursor doesn't change until you move the mouse.
Anyone have a trick for updating the mouse cursor immediately, before the user moves the mouse? I tried doing Mouse.hide(); Mouse.show(); but that doesn't work.

I am making a custom cursor flash. In each frame there is a different crusor. I got the code that make the real cursor dissapear and my custom one follow the mouse. Im try to create some code that knows when I click and geos to the next frame and stop there so the custom cursor can be viewed.

The problem I see with this is that the invisible mouse will quickly move out of the movie and stop tracking.Has anybody dealt with this before? I'm sure I saw a flash toy somewhere that trapped the mouse inside a box, but can't find it now. :(

View 10 RepliesI have made custom mouse cursor (movie clip) everything works fine, default cursor is hidden, mc is following pointer, problem is- when flash is inactive custom cursor hangs in upper left corner of flash, I want to make it dissapear untill the moment you enter flash file. That would work like this: I am opening my web page, flash is loaded but custom cursor is hidden, I am moving my mouse into zone of flash -custom cursor appears on screen and follows mouse pointer.

I'm trying to convert my sniper game to as3 but coming up with the problem of evt.target hitting the scope crosshairs (the cursor) and not bubbling down to the stick man.[ode]I've come up with two solutions but they both negatively impact the accuracy and game play.
1. use objectHitTest, this works but makes it frustrating to hit small objects
2. make a small hole in the scope, this would probably work but could also cause problems

For a project, I'm making an interactive side scroller.You move the character with the arrow keys and press the space bar to interact with things.So far, I followed DexNote's tutorial on YouTube.I thought that I would make the interactable objects as buttons, while the mouse focus would be on the character and when you press the space bar it make a mouse click in that area.The trouble I'm having now is that I don't know how to make the space bar trigger the "interactions."

Now: I use Flash Prof as Editor of my projects and I don't succeed in giving in meal to the editor the sdk so to have available the new class.
I have a cursor class and i wanna make it so the cursor change to state 'over' whenever the hand cursor is there. I dont want to add an event listener for every roll over in my page.

I have created a file where I have a custom mouse cursor using the following code:
Mouse.hide(); cursor_mc.startDrag(true); I have the mouse cursor in its own layer on the main timeline. In a layer below this one I have a movieclip symbol that when clicked I want to move to frame two of its own timeline and play.
The code I use for this is inside the movieclip symbol itself and it is:

The problem is the darn thing only works when the cursor symbol is in a layer below the movieclip on the main timeline and not in a layer above the movieclip on the main timeline. It wont even work when the custom cursor is in the same layer as the movieclip symbol.
Is there a work around to this or something else I could try. In actioscript 2.0 this never was a problem.
