ActionScript 3.0 :: Access XML Outside Loader Function?
Sep 27, 2011
I want to load my XML, listen for the complete loading and then be abble to access the loaded XML in the main part of my program. I need to do so cause I want to load and process, like 10 or more XML in this project.[code]...
I'm using the code bellow:[code]The problem I'm getting and I can't figure it out in AS3, is how to call the "mcExt" from another function, outside the function where the mc is created.tried MovieClip(root).container_ mc.window_mc.mcExt.gotoA ndStop("exit"); and it does not work.
Let me just start by saying this forum is awesome, over the past 3 years I've found nearly all of the answers to my AS questions without posting once... That streak ends today.I'm building a site where the client is going to be able to upload various backgrounds which load depending on which tab they click on.
The class is BigBackground.as. It does the loading of the backgrounds, and then in the .fla I would like to manipulate these "BigBackgrounds" starting with the width. However, even though the width traces correctly from BigBackground.as, the width traces to 0 from the .fla file. I can access width from the class, but how can I access the width & height from the .fla?[code]...
it's very simple thing i have a swf file try.swf, and it have little bit animation, I stop it's animation on timeline frame 1and i use this code... to load try.swf in other flash fileimport flash.display.Loaderimport flash.net.URLRequestvar ld:Loader=new Loader()var rq:URLRequest=new URLRequest("try.swf")ld.load(rq)addChild(ld)now i hv load try.swf in ld Loader now I want when this loaded then try.swf gotoAndPlay though frame 2 and start showing animation.
Main movieclip onstage is : design_mc. Within it is a movieclip already in place onstage with an instance name clipart_mc.also loading a ListBox to the stage and each time a selection is made from listbox myLoader9 is used to load selected .swf intodesign_mc.clipArt_mc.Now within each of the .swf files loaded into design_mc.clipArt_mc there is a mc ike to color transform called color_mc.So now the listbox is onstage and I make a selection that places heart.swf inside of design_mc.clipArt_mc. I want to access heart.swf so I did this:
var child:DisplayObject = myLoader9.content.contentLoaderInfo.content.color_mc; var colorTrans3:ColorTransform = new ColorTransform(); var trans3:Transform = new Transform(child);
I created a button class with a method that will allow me to control an external SWF. However, the loader for the SWF is created on my main timeline. Is it possible to access the loader object from within my button class?No matter what I try I either get an error that the variable is not defined (rightfully so because I haven't defined it in the class, it's defined on the main timeline) or that the object is null (when I declare the loader from within the class, which I know is wrong as well)
So, i'm currently working on an xml based banner. The banner has seven "pages," each with it's own image and url (specified in the xml file).A preloader loads in the swf, and then another loader in the main swf loads in the xml and images (displaying percent loaded and whatnot).
The problem that I'm running into is that I can't figure out how to access the previously loaded images when I want to call my transition function... I added as many comments in the fla as I could, if there are any questions feel free to post, I'll be here all night.
All in all, I need a second set of eyes to skim my project and help me streamline the process.
I'm having troubles accessing the data loaded by external class.[code]...
Now, I want to create another external class (called MainMenu) that will be initiated from the Main class.This class should create the menu based on the loaded XML class.
My question is, how can I make use of the loaded XML content via XMLLoader class within the MainMenu class?
this is so embaresing and my whole business is suffering from this[URL].. the key point in my TextArea class which extends TextField is to load external swf files and I use the .parent property of the Loader class to access the textfield... with the new security updates coming with 11.2 I cannot access the parent and the whole thing crashes to give you more insight:
imagine that we have file.swf being loaded into the project using the flash.display.Loader class. from the document class of file.swf, I can access the loader like this, all ok till here _loader = this.parent as Loader
[Code]...
every day that one of my clients updates their player to the new version, their website fails. I need to fix this a.s.a.p.
I have a flash game embedded on Facebook but need access to the flashvars facebook passes to all embedded games. However I am using the mochiads preloader meaning that _root.fb_sig_user is always undefined?How do I get to the variables?stage.loaderInfo.parameters.fb_sig_user
I'm writing a simple little test app consisting of 'main.as' and 'test.png', both within the same subdir on my harddrive. I'm compiling via command line with mxmlc, and testing via 'open with...' and Chrome. The code uses flash.display.Loader.load( "test.png" ) - but I can't access the loaded content (or even draw it to a bitmapdata!) due to security exceptions.
My goal is to get the image into something (preferably a bitmapdata!) I can draw to other bitmapdatas, as I understand this is fastest for gaming. I've tried all sorts of things, including creating a 'crossdomain.xml' that goes in the same dir as the above files (and doing the appropriate LoaderContext thing), tried various system.Security things and still no joy.
I have a class Debug with a function called trace inside it which puts a TextField on the stage and outputs the text. Now I am trying to get the Debug.trace() function to do a "normal" debug trace as well from within side itself. of course this causes a recursive loop. I am trying to figure out how I can access the top level separately. I tried using namespaces such as AS3::trace but to no luck.
I know a solution is to rename my function to stop the conflict, but I would like that to be a last resort. It is being used in quite alot of places throughout my entire code so replacing it everywhere is going to be a ballache.
What is different betwen URLLoader and URLRequest? and what are their function? i have read language reference for actionscript3 from [URL] but it makes me confusing.
I am trying to use fade in function for loader.loadMovie(this.main), but if I change the code 'loader.loadMovie(this.main)' to fade_in(loader.loadMovie(this.main)', it only can running for first frame, then stuck.
Does Loader.close() stops loading at once, or it continues loading certain number of chunks before stopping? Is it viable to run concurrent loading process in the background and then stop it abruptly (or even pause if possible) if user needs something else loaded immediately? And what about loading of other types of external content?
is it possible to create a loader and add parent to it,outside of a function or is there a function that runs once when the movie is started that i could add things like this into
So, I'm trying to load resources, add them to a dictionary, and have a drawing method search through that dictionary and draw based on certain predicates. I have a function that iterates through an Vector of Strings, calling on an instance of Loader to load them instantiated as a URLRequest.
private function loadImages(urls:Vector.<String>):void { var loader:Loader = new Loader();
[Code].....
So the issue is: Only the first images in my Vector are drawing. Upon further inspection, I found that the completeHandler was only being called once (I put a trace in the complete handler to check). However, the Loader is invoking load everytime the loop iterates. I tried instantiating separate loaders for each resource, just to see if it would work, but I had no luck with that. Do I need to make separate loaders and event handlers? Or am I just not using Loader correctly?
Trying to make a grid based question answer game and load variables from a text file using for loops into an array. I wanted to reduce redundant code and use for loops to populate my arrays. The issue I am having is with my arrays being lost/destroyed outside of the loader function.
I understand that if an array is declared inside the function, naturally the array would be destroyed upon exit of the function. However I am declaring the arrays outside of the function so the arrays should remain intact after I exit the function.
BTW - I'm not having an issue with the loading of the data. The data is loading correctly. The array is simply being destroyed after the data has loaded.
//Create the arrays to hold the //categories, questions, and answers var categoryArray:Array = new Array(); var quesAnswArray:Array = new Array();
i'm loading in multiple images using the same loader using a for loop. what i'm trying to figure out is how can i tell when the first 4 images are loaded. is there away to attach and index to each loader and then get it from the event in the on complete function? below is the code i'm using:
I'm loading an image into a container. The container is simply a loader object with a progress event listener and a complete event listener. It is loaded when a thumb is clicked in the gallery and it displays the image larger.Basically it is possible to interrupt the loading process of the current load stream and load something else by clicking another thumb in the gallery before it's complete.
If you call loader.close() when nothing is loading, Flash will call back an error saying that there is no stream attached to the loader object.Is there a way to test if the loader object is presently loading, and if so to close it?
I have set up a functioning xml image gallery with simple left and right arrows. I am now trying to make it an infinite looping gallery swapping the first and last sprites in an array and + and - their x value so they "physically" move in the photos container.
All of this works fine except for the actual loaded image. The xml data, name description, and image to be loaded are set up in one function and all the data is added to the sPhotoSprite (sprite) in this function. This All works perfectly..
A second function is then called to add the current image:
var currentImage:Loader = Loader(evt.target.loader); then currentSprite.addChild(currentImage); (the sprite is declared at the start)
The problem being that the sPhotosSprite is no longer reference-able. I've tried :
But this only ever returns the final sprite. The same problem of only ever returning the final sprite occurs when I try setting an external sprite to hold the current sprite in it and then referencing it in the second function.
I've been having a few problems with accessing an array from a different function.
The array I want to use is from the makeFly function, which generates instances of the Fly MovieClip. I want to access the array from the paperSwing function, which should test for a collision between the mouse cursor and the fly movieclip, and then if true remove the instance. This is the part where I'm having a bit of trouble, I'm not sure of how to access the array "name[i]".
