I have gotten how to make the buttons go to a specified frame number and also a button to go to a specified external url but no success in making a simple next/previous pair of buttons.

I've got a movieclip acting as a button. Code on the button itself handles roll-over/-out states, and I define an onRelease function in the main timeline as follows:

This code takes the movie back to the first frame and works on the third frame. For some reason, though, the same code on the fifth frame has no effect. The button doesn't do anything. I have tried using the same button, I tried inserting a new keyframe with a new button, renaming the button, etc. and for some reason I just can't get it to work on the fifth frame. If it helps to visualize, I am essentially making a menu. The first frame contains buttons to take you to submenus, located on following slides. This button to go back to the original menu is on each frame with a submenu, but for some reason only works on one of them.
I have my flash on multiple scenes, and would like to play an animation when clicking on the navigation button before switching to a different scene.
I'm halfway to accomplishing this.

The above code is on a blank keyframe. Changepage1 is the start of the animation and Changepage2 is the end of the animation.
Upon clicking the navigation button it plays the above scenes.
However it doesn't change scenes to scene "Home2".
What command do I enter for the movie to rewind to first frame on entering a certain frame / stopping in a frame?It's my first time using Flash, and I'm working on a double menu (second menu has a "close" button, where I want to get back to the first menu).

Someone know an easy to make this without having to create 10 differents movieclips just to change the action at the end of the movieclip?
From Frame 1 to 15 I have a button movieclip which will when clicked on switch to frame 16, but a different button exist on frame 16. This button on frame 16 should have the same functionality as the one at the beginning when its clicked on but switch to frame 24. For some reason I'm getting a:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

I am trying to get just a single pose from an armature layer without copying the whole layer. I just want the exact arrangement of symbols from a specific frame of the armature layer alone; in one keyframe; without the armature; into a normal layer. I tried a few things, like breaking apart and copying the individual keyframe (ctrl+click on the frame I want and "copy pose"). I thought about converting an armature layer into a frame-by-frame animation so I can just copy the one frame like I want, but it's apparently not an option. When I tried the break apart option it just breaks down the first frame of the armature layer into one big vector graphic. I've even tried highlighting every frame except the one I want to use and pressing Shift+F5. Nothing I've tried so far works.
This is annoying because if I don't find a solution, I will have to take each separate symbol used in this frame of the armature layer and individually align them all in the exact same position in the normal layer
If I removeChild frame animated Movieclip, will it automatically stop running the frames inside it? Actually without calling mc.stop();

View 4 RepliesI want to call a function once per frame between keyframe 1 and keyframe 60, but i don't want to have to create a keyframe on EVERY single frame in between with an action calling the function. is there a simple way like tweening, to make this function execute once on every frame without having to make 60 unique keyframes?

I have a project that involves flash animation- almost movie like. I need some advice on how to do flash animation. I think I'll create the graphics in illustrator. Basically, the storyline is this:
- guy leaves house and walks to car
-starts engine, puts on shades and speeds off
-scenes of downtown chicago (nightlife)
-view license plate
What is the best way to do this? create graphics in illustrator for frame by frame? Should I use after effects? The client doesn't have a high budget so video is out of the question.
I have created a basic flash navigation menu bar for my website. I have added the bar into a frame on my dreamweaver page. I was just wondering if it was possible to link the buttons on my flash bar to open the pages into the main frame below my navigation bar? The code I have at the moment for my "home" button is the following:

I have a number of buttons (that are in an array), I want to add a function that basically says:
If the name of the button that you have just clicked on == (is the same as the name of the scene label) then go to that scene: Now I have used this handler function which seems to work O.K, except for the fact that it keeps trying to goto the FRAME label instead of SCENE label.
I keep getting the error message when i click on a button saying:
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label mars not found in scene home.

I figured it must be this line of code at the end: gotoAndStop(+(destArray)[i]);
But how do I change it so it goes to the scene label name and not the frame label name? I Tried adding quote marks like

This is a snippet of some code I'm working on. Currently I have a mc that you press that plays another mc. That mc that reacts has 5 frames, each frame with stop(); on each frame. I do a normal play code because it lets me play through and cycle back to frame 1 after frame 5 (so if I click the mc it eventually cycles back to the first frame and starts the process over again). If I do a nextframe it stops at frame 5, so that's why I use play.
press_mc click on it and it tells mover2_mc to advance a frame and recycles back to frame one to redo the process.Can I tell press_mc to play and skip a frame or to have it play a list of frames that I tell? I can't do a _currentframe +2 because it'll halt at frame 5.
I want my MovieClip to play from frame 5 to frame 30 and then stop. How can I do this?

it shows x as being 3 when you hit the button but it reverts back right away, so it looks like gotoAndPlay(2) is still playing frame
1. how do i stop it from reseting my variables?
I have a problem where I have declared an onRollOver event handler on frame 5. I also have a button on frame 4 telling flash to go to frame 5.But, if the mouse is already over the movieclip on frame 5, the rollover event will not play.Is there a way to force this onRollOver or another workaround for this?

Im making my first serious flash game and I made 1st level at 1st frame
now I saw that i need to insert 1 frame before my 1st level to add menu like - new game, instructions, credits etc.
How can I move this framee with movieclips, actionscript and everything to 2nd frame,and in first frame put menu. Or if I cant do that and I must start new fla file and start all again, how much you guys/developers, usually leave frames blank just in case before 1st level.?
