ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash With The Strategy Pattern (Interfaces)?

Dec 6, 2010

I have a question I wanted to ask you guys, it's pretty complex because it involved classes and interfaces and can get confusing. I'll try my best to explain it below. The gist of the story is, when I click the duck, I want it to give birth and also increment the number of ducks in my farm. Here goes:

Valid Strategy For Secure Image Upload From Flash Client?

Apr 27, 2010

I'm creating a flash application that will post images to a url for saving to disk/display later. I was wondering what are some suggested strategies for making this secure enough so that the upload is verified as coming from the application and not just some random form post. Is it reliable enough to check referring location realizing that I don't need bulletproof security, or perhaps setting authentication headers is a better strategy even though it seems unreliable from what I have read. The application and the server script will reside on the same domain and is in java - is there a way to check for a 'session' or something like that?

Another thought I had was some sort of simple hashed key type system, I could hard-code a key into the flash application and pass something to the server based on that - the server would also know this key and be able to verify if the value passed was based on that? The app is a public app, so authenticating users is not an option. After more research I am thinking about using a hard coded salt key on both ends, then sending an MD5 hash of the base64 encoded image bytearray+salt to be matched on the server side.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Search A String For A Particular Pattern, And Replace It With Elements From Within The Pattern?

Nov 25, 2009

i'm trying to search a string for a particular pattern, and replace it with elements from within the pattern... for example..here's the given string...if you want to learn how to use regexp, {url===http://somesite.com, text===click here}.

the pattern...
{url===http://somesite.com, text===replacement text}

and the intended result...
if you want to learn how to use regexp, click here.

of course, i'll extract the url and do something else with it... i'm just wondering what the regexp is for that pattern, and how i can extract things from the results returned.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Strategy For Button Timer

Feb 24, 2011

My client wants me to have these vertical buttons work automatically and switch slides every 30 seconds or so without having to click on them. Then if the user clicks on any of the vertical buttons, the timer is turned off for good and it would then work how it does currently. Does anyone know of a way to place a timer on the actions that the buttons normally cause, then turn that function off once the user clicks on one?

Flex :: Strategy For Making LocalConnection Ids Unique

Aug 8, 2009

I'm using a localconnection to allow communication between an actionscript 2 swf and an actionscript 3 swf.Localconnection objects share a global namespace across a user's pc.So, this means, a user can fire up my flash app in one browser, and submit commands, back and forth, which is what i want. But the user can also fire up another browser, and all commands sent to my application will be handled by the first application if its still loaded in the first browser.When I make the LocalConnection, I specify an id, but the id must be known to the actionscript 2 swfs, and therein I find a problem. I don't know how to let the actionscript 2 swfs know what the unique id is.

Flash :: Creating A .swc - Don't Interfaces Work, When Classes?

Sep 26, 2010

I'm making a game which loads map .swfs at runtime. The maps will contain graphics and code, which can both vary from map to map. I've decided to make all the maps implement an interface, so they can all be used in the same way by the game. I'm using a .swc to contain the interface, like in this page.

I can get classes to work in the .swc, but not interfaces!

I'm using Flash cs5, and flashdevelop for editing, in AS3. Here's how I've been doing it:

1- create map.fla with a symbol called Map, and a Map.as:

Actionscript 3 :: Taking An Intro Flash Course With MVC Pattern?

Mar 7, 2012

I've been busting my hump the last week or so on this project for my OOP/AS3 course and this past Sunday I realized that my approach wasn't going to work so I scrapped the better part of it and started over.

Our assignment is to create an XML based flash menu that demonstrates an understanding of the OOP patterns we've just learned. It was kind of a 'test the waters' project where he gave us a ton of tutorials and information and told us to make our best attempt at making sense of it so I'm certain there are more efficient ways to do what I'm doing, but that's a moot point.

We need to employ at least two patterns in our menu, though at the moment I'm just focusing on MVC so that I can get the mainUI working before I finalize the second part of the UI. It essentially flows like so:

ActionScript 3 :: Flash Game Inventory - Design Pattern

Aug 23, 2011

I'm still studying OOP designs, so what's the best way to achieve an inventory for a simple flash game? It seems that more than one design pattern could deliver some kind of an inventory but I would lose the flexibility if I try to adapt it somehow without a good knowledge about the subject. For money to buy what is available in an inventory I thought of Singleton. If there's enough cash earned while playing the game, then one can buy new skills. Maybe decorator pattern could list many thumbnails as buttons, and clicking on it applies new features and skills to the character.

var str1:String = "a b";

ActionScript 3.0 :: PlayerGlobal.swc Interfaces?

Jul 21, 2010

Our company is about to create and distribute (and possibly to sell ) the utility to convert Silverlight apps to its equivalents on Flash.For this purpose we're writing our own AS3-compiler. The compiler for correct work must know how to interact with the classes
backed into the FlashPlayer. The Flex Builder solves it by using the playerglobal.swc that is the part of its distribution package.As far as I know we have no right to redistribute the separate playerglobal.swc without the rest of Flex SDK.

And here is the question: Tehnically we're able to learn all the class interfaces defined inside of the playerglobal.swc with the help of e.g. the plugin ExportSWC (shipped for FlashDevelop) and redeclare them inside of our own swc (e.g. named PlayerGlobalInterfaces. swc) or somehow else.It would be enough for the correct work of our AS3-compiler without the need of using playerglobal.swc at all. But I'm not sure would it violate any copyrights or not?

Java :: Example Of Inner Classes Used As An Alternative To Interfaces?

May 25, 2011

What I was told, which sparked my curiosity on this topic:Java gui classes can implement hundreds of Listeners and Callbacks and many books teach you to implement all these interfaces in your gui class. Alternatively, these aspects can be implemented in inner classes, so methods called by that listeners do not get mixed up.'d like to know how to do this in ActionScript, which doesn't have inner classes, but has private classes. But, I don't think I fully realize what inner classes are about, so I'm merely trying to wrap my head around the situation where I would use them to organize a class' methods by their usages.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Proxies And Interfaces And Context

Jan 6, 2011

Does anybody know a way to apply an Interface to ObjectProxy, so that you don't have to declare the Interface implementations within the proxy?In other words, if the purpose of ObjectProxy is to proxy the Object in question (passing requests for properties and methods silently to the embedded Object), is it possible to tell the interface "hey, the functions you are looking for are already proxied, so don't bug me about them!"[code]But the function declarations kinda defeat the purpose of using ObjectProxy to begin with... I'd like the Interface to just "know" that "nemesis" is managed by the proxy, but still use the Interface for displaying context-help.which is how to code the context help so people using my MeatwadProxy will see context-help for the Meatwad class it contains?(And yes, I can already hear DrkStr and ASWC snickering at me in the background for continuing to believe in ActionScripts Proxy class. I also believe in Santa Claus, so there!)
