I'm having problem with regards to getting the name of the inserted images inside the movieclip container.
 
My movieclip container is named "container", it followed this snippet:

Is it possible to get the exact name of the images instead of "instance147" or "instance175"? So that if i have inserted image with the name of apple.png, it will show:

By the way, i use FileReference to insert image to the stage.

Actionscript 3 :: Can't Remove All Images Of A Sprite-container?

I've got a stack of images.Those images are all added to a sprite container:

var container:Sprite = new Sprite();
container.addChild(img);//added in a loop
addChild(container);

Later, when I iterate through the container to remove the images I say:

for(var i:int=0;i<container.numChildren;i++)
{
var currImg:Sprite = container.getChildAt(i) as Sprite;[code].....

Only a part of the images are removed. If I trace container.numChildren I get the correct number of images to be removed.

Yes, another one of those pour souls attempting to escape the confines of AS2 and venturing into the AS3 world! I'm simply trying to dynamically add an image frame (imgframe) to the stage, sticking an image holder (imgholder) into the image frame mc and then loading an image into the image holder mc. Here's the code I've been using as a test, but it spits out errors saying that a term is undefined on "mainmask_mc.imgframe.addChild(imgholder);" code. I've tried changing it to various things, but nothing works.

I am having trouble determining where to add my removeChild() statement to clear multiple movieClips from a container mc. I know I need to determine if the container movieclip contains anything. I have multiple thumbnails and when you click on one thumbnail I want the larger image to externally load into a container. When you click on another thumbnail I want the current large image to fade out and the new image externally load in. Now I can handle this, but I am trying to make everything easier by not reproducing the same loadMovie code over and over again for every thumbnail.

I assume I do this by using some sort of loop and vars, but this is pushing my abilities of Action Script. Can anyone point me to a good tutorial, that is easy to follow and understand for a new Action Script sort of person?? I have searched and can't find anything I can follow and understand very well..

I have a group of 16 images that I would like to load 1 of each into each movieclip. I want image1 to be inside of visual1, image 2 inside of visual2, and so on. the images are named like, 1960s_(1).png where the 1960 (year) part is coming from the rangeNum variable. i have been building a library that has thumbnails which you click to view the full image. i have built the application it works but i want to change the way the image on the actual thumbnail loads using code instead of manually adding the value to the url loader component.

the loop runs fine without the last line of code which i've commented out.the make up of these thumbnails are a uiLoader component which are each inside there own movieClip.what i wanted this to do was every time the loop runs it currentLoad adds 1 to its value then that value is subbed into instanceN:String and thumbnailURL address that bit works the trace statements read correctly.but my issue is using the instanceN value as the instance name path which then loads the current thumbnailURL value which is the URL address for the thumbnail picture.when i try to load the url address using the commented out code above i got the error .TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.the trace statements correct values below

the first value is the currentLoad value.

the second value is the instance name path.

the third is is the URL address for the thumbnail.[code].....

I have 50 images that need to be on stage, which will be embedded into 50 different movie clips. I named the movie clips image1-image50 and the images are in an external folder named 1-50. Every freaking article or tutorial I have found clearly explains how to upload one image, or just one at a time. I can do that, and spend 2 days renaming all the functions, but I do not want to do that. Is there a better way to just load all 50 images, place them accordingly?

I am developing a paint board application using flash builder. User can draw some shapes objects(ellipse, circle, rectangle). I want to implement grouping/un grouping feature some like ms-word in my application. I group multiple objects by putting them inside a container(UIComponent). Now i apply resizing to container and it resize well. I am using a free object handler API to apply selection handle over the container. I want to resize and reposition all children with respect to container changed size. Every thing goes well until all children inside container are having rotation = 0. But if there is any child which is having rotation >0 and <0 things goes worse. The child resize but not in a proper manner. I stretch the parent container width and it increase the height of rotated child. Is there any way using Matrix class or something else to transform all children in same direction and same ratio respective to container?

Flex :: Prevent Container In ItemRenderer From Exceeding Width Of List Container?

In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.

If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.

Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:

xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" width="100%" height="100%">

And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.

I have a loop that goes through data from a book and displays it. The book is not consistent in it's layout so I am trying to display it in two different ways. First way(works fine) is to load the text from that section in to a panel and display it. The second way is to create a new panel (panel creates fine) and then add collapsable panels(nested) to that panel. Here is the code from the else loop.

I am creating an flex Air project,so mxml file will run. I have circles in one Big circle at one side and will be same on other side.

Now how to drag any circle from any Big circle to other side. Or it could be like any two container having circles, then how to drag and drop circle?

I need to place an image into a container. The problem is that I will not know the size of the image or the container beforehand, so it all has to be dynamic.this is how I started (have not gotten to stage(or container) changing size yet. No matter what I try, either all the images are the same width, or they are all the same height. If some images are portrait and other landscape, I don't want all the images to be X pixels high. In this variation of the code, all the images turn out the same height, regardless of portrait or landscape.

I have am pretty new to AS3 and am trying to figure out how to load images thru XML. I can get one image to load to one MC named upperLeftmc.load_img, however, I have 5 more mc's on my main timeline that need different images loaded. One mc is called MidLeftmc.load_img, BottomLeftmc.load_img and so on. But how do I get these images loading into more than just my Upperleft mc? They all have to be different images too, so my xml looks like

IDE :: Multiple Images Breaking Swf?

what its meant to do: A casestudy, has a section for each client, showing a selection of work for each one. It starts at a random client/section each time it is loaded, and there is also a menu that allows you to go to a specific client/section if you want.

So what i've done is made a randomly generated var at frame 1, and then told it to gotoAndPlay different sections of my timeline

This is working fine, as is the menu. However, as soon as I add a new layer with 2 or more images, in any of the sections it stops working.

Stranger still, it seems to be if i use more than one of the same image type it wont work ie, 1 jpg, 1 gif, 1 png it still works, but if i have 2 jpgs or 2 gifs it will break.

I also tried making a movie clip to hold my images, but the same thing happens

I've been doing a lot of thinking about how best to construct classes that load multiple images, e.g. photo galleries and such.

What is everyone's take (or the general agreement, if there is one) on how to load those images? The 2 ways I am thinking about are these (after you've already got all the filepaths or urls to be loaded):

1)Create a for loop [code]...

Here, you are creating anywhere from one to a billion loaders, depending on the number of photos in your gallery, but they will load simultaneously. Is that a terribly bad approach?

The only other way I know of doing it is to add an event listener that re-calls the loading function when the loading of one image completes.
