My flash application is completely run by classes, each screen being a different class and that class controlling everything on the given screen, with the Main class controlling which screen is on and when. I need a preloader, as my application uses lots of images, sound and video. But I can only find tutorials which focus on loading content in the timeline, and moving onto a frame instead of executing a class.
Is there Actionscript 2 that can be put in a preloader and play only the first movie clip on the root timeline instead of all of the root's timeline (which happens using getBytesLoaded or movieclip._framesLoaded() )? I want the preloader to just load the first movie clip and let the user read this screen while the rest of the root timeline continues to download.
I'm trying to cobble together the simplest preloader possible from various AS3 tutorials and settled on the preloader coding below.
[Code].....
My AS3 syntax checks OK, but when I test the movie it displays frame 5 and stops there. I can briefly see the preloader display. Without the preloader it runs to the end.
I had to build a preloader for a fairly large swf and of course the design of the preloader is a bit complex - it's got to have two looping timeline animations running in it at the same time.I did my best to simplify these as much as possible, but they involve filters and pngs and... ugh.Needless to say, while flash is trying to do all the work of loading the movie AND running these two timelines over and over, it stutters. A lot. And looks bad, and all I can say is... well yeah.A preloader by definition has to be simple, doesn't it?
This is problem is cropping up in Flash CS3 rather than Flex, but it's Actionscript 3.If you paste the code below into the main timeline on frame 1 and test it in Flash, the COMPLETE and INIT events both fire. And in Firefox and Safari it works too. INIT and COMPLETE both fire. But in IE (6 and 7, both with the latest flash player) on a PC only the INIT event fires.
Code: var debugText:TextField = new TextField() addChild(debugText) var onRootLoaderInit = function (event:Event):void{ debugText.text += "INITIATED." + " " } var onRootLoaderComplete = function (event:Event):void{ debugText.text += "COMPLETE." + " " } loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, onRootLoaderInit); loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onRootLoaderComplete);
I'm getting the classic preloader problem of having the preloader not display until a certain percentage (in this case %30) of the total file has loaded. I am importing the TweenLite class in the second frame, and I am also dynamically attaching MovieClips from the library in that frame as well. I've tried putting a frame between the preloader and the title screen and using the Publish Settings to export all the classes in frame 2, but it does not help at all.
I have a container movieClip that is centered whenever the browser resizes. In the container, I have a preloader MC and my content MC. But for some reason I can't get the preloaderMC to work. Does the preloader have to be on the main timeline? Would somebody mind taking a look at the preloader code to let me know if there is anything I can change?
Here is the code: Code: //set mask grad.setMask(percentage_mc2); onEnterFrame = function () { //Get bytes loaded of _root timeline and calculate percentage loaded based on total bytes loading = _root.getBytesLoaded(); [Code] .....
So I make my site in flash, forget to add a preloader for the main timeline. I go back and add the extra frames to allow this but as soon as I add even just one more frame it make all my graphics go jaggy edged!?! See diagram below.
how to make text acting as a preloader so that its color changes as preloader percentage. i dont mean how to apply the math, i mean how to mask it or whatever action to achieve that effect?
like for example imagine the red is constantly growing to the right letter by letter (actually pixel by pixel:
I just started working on a preloader screen that includes a preloader mask over a logo and a percentage dynamic text. I can get either or to work but not both at the same time. I notice that if I remove stop(); I can get the percentage to work but not the preloader image. With the stop(); embedded the image preloader works but the percentage doesn't.
I want to make a preloader for flash mx 2004 that when it finish becomes to decrement another time. I would like to do it to modify the flash preloader component.
i tried the tutorial that teaches you how to create a preloader....i followed the instructions and it still doesnt work! what's wrg?[code]on my first frame actions....i put the "gotoAndPlay (36)" cause i tried a previous preloader that took more than 1 frame and didnt want to change my button's "goTo" frames...but i figured it wont change anything..anyways, i put that line of code as my first frame action....by double clicking the timeline..then i create a symbol for that frame 1 and created an animation.
Ie the preloader and steps through a preloader animation filling the logo (ie loader)Now I have tried changing a few things but having problems tried loading into a container and a level
I've been looking for a tutorial to create a timeline scrubber (not animating specific movie clips, but actually a scrubber that can move along different keyframes of a timeline that has a series of images on it).I found a bunch of these (scrubber controlling specific movie clips): http:[url]....but nothing that allows you to just scrub back and forth on the whole timeline in the exported swf.
I cannot seem to find anything of what I need from google.(Well, I can find the reverse method to what i need ) Basically I wish to access a variable declared in the Root Timeline from my Movie clips timeline.
I simply want to assign a variable to the current frame of the main timeline (not movieclip timeline) I already know about _currentframe and it doesn't help in this case.
I am in the learning process. Working with FlashCS5 and AS3. if the issue appears to be too simple for you. Placed a movieclip(mcassessJohn) on the main timeline and moved to the frame labelled "johnFeedback" in the movieclip timeline using the following actionscript code.
I have researched the subject for some time now and still haven't figure it out.I use midas3 library (Midi-actionscript3) to import midi to flash. I get each note-item on a timeline. I get the divisions value (192) and all of the "GET-TEMPO" elements are equal to 81.I tried a lot of combinations to get the actual time of the midi but still no good (timeline*192/60 for example).The reason I know it is not synchronized to the actual time is that when I visualize the notes as simple rectangles in flash - I check if they appear exactly to what the mp3 file plays (I have converted the midi file to this mp3 using simple conversion program)I have read a lot about how all is calculated but still haven't figure out the number I need to use to get it right (timeline * MysteriusConstant = ReaTIME, what is the value of MysteriusConstant? is it really constant? and if not how do I calculate how it is changed?)
I have a file comprised of 1 scene and two movie clips. The clips are instanced into the Main Timeline and occupy Frames 1 and 2 respectively.MovieClip1 is an animation that has navigation buttons that appear at the end of the clip. I'm trying to get mouse click navigation to make Frame 2 on the Main Timeline active.
Here is what I'm trying but it is not working:
btExplore.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ExploreClick); function ExploreClick (evt:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndStop(2); }
this takes the animation to Frame 2 of the Movie Clip Timeline not Frame 2 the Main Timeline.
I'm having some problem with the workflow of flash.I make web banners everyday att my work att it is important to me to have the banners easy structured so I can copy effects, tweens and symbols to a new banner. I have Flash CS3 pro.I always start by making a symbols. And then in the symbols own timeline I make the animation or effect.
The big problem I'm having is when I have the main (scene1) timeline with many frames, and then have symbols on that timeline, with it's own timeline with some frames. The frames in the symbol timeline is okey, but at the main timeline the frames is too short or too long so the animation of the symbol cuts of early or it plays more than one time (too many frames).
How do I calculate how long a symbols timeline should be so It maches the main timeline?What happens to me is that I always have to adjust the symbols timeline and the main timeline, and this I have to do many times.
Why does a child movieclip only show the first frame within the IDE, regardless of where you are in the parent timeline?If you throw a movieclip with 25 frames onto the main timeline, which also has 25 frame, you don't see the nested movieclip's frame-progress while you scroll through the main timeline.Is there a setting somewhere in preferences or somewhere that will enable you to see a nested movieclip's frame position from the main timeline? Like you do with After Effects composites?
I have a main.fla which has 3 movieclips inside it. All 3 mc's have timelines that run 40 frames. The main.fla timeline has each mc instance on a frame. mc_1 is on frame 1 mc_2 is on frame 40 mc_3 is on frame 81 as the main timeline plays the clips each one fades to the other. I need to know how to target this scenerio after mc_3 plays I need to have a goToAndplay (20) set up so the animation inside mc_1 starts playing (frame 20) of mc_1.
I have a magic cloud effect. On frame 30 of the nested effect I would like an mc on the main timeline to become visible.Not too sure how to code with frame numbers,a) Do I put AS on the timeline of the nested clip ORb) Write code on the main timeline to listen for when the nested mc gets to frame 30
I'm looking for an animation timeline or video/audio timeline ui or maybe like a gantt chart thing that can be adjustable. It's basically draggable icons in tracks and bars that you can adjust the size of.
