Now, I'd like to move the blue color coded script to the separate package. When I do that, I've got many reference errors. how the code should look like, when it's in separate package, with all the references to variables that work? And how to call this function from Main class?
I'm doing some animated characters (I'm on CS5), and I'm trying to optimize the animation/rigging process to save time and manpower (there is very little of both).
The characters all have multiple animations, which are stored each in their own movieclip, which in turn is placed on a main movieclip where each animation verb (states) is stored on a frame, so we can switch between animations (the usual game character setup)
Each state movieclip has the entire animation on it's timeline. they have about 20 layers, each with as few objects as possible in them... The idea was that later, these layers could be moved onto movieclips of their own, to allow for character customization (changing colors and whatnot)... This seems like a pretty straightforward setup, but there is a snag.
Some objects that need to be moved onto movieclips are sharing layers with other objects that don't, despite my best efforts to plan ahead and prevent that (hence the 20 layers, which obviously weren't enough).
So my question is:
Is it at all possible to select shapes across all frames of a layer? I know you can edit multiple frames, but I haven't found a way to select a specific shape across all frames.
For a better unerstanding of the situation, imagine that a layer might contain the shaped for an arm. They're all at shape level, and the only separation between the different arm sections are the different colors each has, which makes it possible to select a single shape on a single frame just by clicking it (which will 'flood fill' the selection).
Now, with edit multiple frames on, clicking a shape will only select it on a single frame, and drag selecting will select a rectangular area across all frames.
What I'm looking for is a way to 'flood select' a shape across all frames, so I can select, say, the upper part of the arm across all frames, and then delete it, leaving me with a layer that only has the lower part (and a previously coped layer that can have the lower part removed, effectively separating them).
Shift/Alt/Ctrl/Right clicking won't work here... there doesn't seem to be one of Adobe's obscure shortcuts for this..
I do a lot of work with GWT but don't have experience of Flex. I was talking to a guy today who was looking at moving some large Flex based applications to GWT due to the Flex application getting too big and using too much memory in the browser. This is a problem I have had before with GWT - browser apps using lots of memory as all the code gets loaded when it starts.
However, in GWT 2.0 there is now a code splitting feature to overcome the problem of the client code getting too big. This allows all the code (javascript) not to be loaded as one big file on start up but instead code split into different files that can be loaded when required.
I was thinking as to if there is anything similar in Flex. I assume the Flex application code all lives in one single SWF file which loads at start-up so this approach is not possible but thought there might be other solutions.
I've got a class that I create that extends the EventDispatcher class. My class has lots of variable declarations and getter and setter functions. I would love to split up the class into multiple AS files so that I can organize the variables and functions by category. Is there any way to do it and still maintain a relationship between all of the files so that one can easily call a function or a variable that exists in another? And so that other classes in my application can refer to one reference when accessing public functions in any of the AS files.
I paid someone to write a Flash application, he did what I asked him, but there is one problematic aspect that he doesn't know how to approach:The application consists of many small mp3 files that have to be preloaded in the beginning. The problem is that is takes FOREVER for these files to load. I changed the server to a VPS and nothing changed.The programmer uses the load() function from the sound library to load the mp3 filesI installed an HTTP packet sniffer and found out that every file is being split to many small packets, 1.3Kb in size each. So for example a 76Kb mp3 file is loaded in over 60 requests!
Is there a way to make code on the timeline and code in a separate AS file communicate with each other?I have two buttons, a yes button and a no button.I have a confirm box which is a movie clip. In the movie clip I have the two buttons on it and code so that every time one of the buttons is clicked it runs a function.I have the rest of my code for the movie (so the code to make the confirm box appear) on a separate AS file.Is there a way I can define the functions on the movie clip and run the functions with the separate AS file?
Im currently trying to make an as3 fantasy football application for my uni course, but am finding it hard to seperate the code I have written into classes (which I have no been told is the only accepted method for the marking scheme). So far I have an external XML file containing player names load into a datagrid component, there is then an event listener on the table which loads the player images into their correct positions on a pitch when clicked. I need to write more functionality for it including saving to XML and error handling but feel I need to sort out the classes situation before I continue and it is in for this week.
Main Class:package {// Flash Classesimport flash.display.MovieClip;import flash.events.Event;import flash.display.StageAlign;import [code]........
Now, I'd like to move the script between --- Start --- and --- End --- comments, to the separate package. When I do that, I've got many reference errors. how the code should look like, when it's in separate package, with all the references to variables that work? And how to call this function from Main class?
I've just been following the Basics of Papervision3D tut, which is very good by the way, the only one I've ever managed to get working.And I'd like to write the code as a separate as file, but I'm having a bit of trouble.In the class definition, what should it extend?[code]I tried everything I can think of and looked at other tuts to see what they've done but nothing works.
I made a button a stage, and I want the button to take the user to a separate scene that I have named "Biography page" when it is clicked. The thing is, I want all my actions on one specific layer. So I made an instance name for my button, "aboutme". The thing is... I have no idea how to write the code.
I need to load separate SWF files depending on different flash buttons being pressed. The problem is I see a flicker inbetween SWF's being played. I think the flicker is where it goes back one frame - but I do not know how to solve this.
The first bike should scroll along to the left then stop, buttons should then appear that allow you to load the external/separate SWF files.
there a more official name for a 'flash container' ? because very little results come up when i try and search for answers!can you load a container within a container, i'm thinking no but would like to clear that up also! for example i've followed this tutorial htm however when loaded up in a container nothing appears in the mouse over effect.. i've also tried loading jpegs into a swf via an xml which again works fine until i load it up within a container and nothing appears..
I've been working on this problem for months, can'f find a viable solution. I can get the main movieclips of the files to p with a mouseover action, but I really need three separate swf files to sync upon load.
and what i would like yo know is how / if i can communicate between two separate .swf files.. what i want to do is this : i have a soundplayer.. and when i go to a defrente html page (that changes only in the iframe , menu is in another iframe) i want the sound player to play another song! so i need somewhere to put a variable and let the sounplayer read that variable so he knows what song he needs to play
I have an xml gallery sort of that works fine when I have the code not as a class, in first frame in Flash. So I decided I wanted to port it into a class and the problem I get is at: thumb = new Thumbnail(xmlList[i].image); It expects 0 arguments. How come that line of code works in first frame in flash but not as a class? There is a movieclip in the library called thumb with linkage of Thumbnail.
Below if the code when used in first frame: PHP Code: var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("pics.xml"); var urlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var xml:XML; var xmlList:XMLList; urlLoader.load(urlRequest); [Code] .....
I have a combo box that is loading in separate .swf files when an item is selected. In the file that I'm loading in, there is a TileList component and a media player. Before I added in those items, it was loading in, but now, this is the error that I get:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.containers::BaseScrollPane/drawBackground() at fl.controls::TileList/draw() at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher()
I have movie file named master.swf (main Movie)it loads main_banner.swfmain_banner.swf has few buttons. when you click on one master.swf go to frame and loads product.swf (till this part eavery thing works fine)Now this part is not workingwhen I click on a button in main_banner.swf I want to assign a variable with another movieclip name Eg: _global.pro = "products/perma_core_1.swf";when product.swf loads it should plays above said swf file (perma_core_1.swf) by using this action pro_ct.loadMovie(_global.product);
In flash cs5 can you have AS3 classes in separate files like in flashbuilder. I just want to make games with just actionscript and no flex/authorscript
- in the parent.fla i created a dynamic txt box and var String named 'txt', this initialises the dynamic text box content to say "parent value".
- in the child.fla i tried to assign and send a new string value i.e. "child value" to 'var txt' which in found within parent.fla. At this point if everything was to work fine the dynamic txt box in parent.fla should output "child value".
I have a 5 menu system in my Flash file, and to keep size down each element of the menu is a separate Flash file. So basically if "About" is pressed the about file loads onto the stage... The problem I am having is, when a menu item is pressed, let's say "About", I want whatever file has been loaded previously, I want it to fade out and then load the selected file... How could I do this? Once the menu is pressed I could easily make an as to fade the current movie out, but how would the file know what to load as the next item?
This is doable in almost every language ive coded in. I would like to place a function in a separate .as file, as to not clutter up my main .as file. Ive already got about 15 classes in separate files and I know there must be some way to do this and its got to be pretty obvious.
I wanted to have this Zombie Penguin enemy use a walk sound (it would be odd if he moved and was silent) but because it is initializing the whole world, simply coding the sound into his animation state won't work because it will play the sound for every existing Zombie Penguin in the world, not just the one on the screen.
Now I've tried to get around this problem by using a SoundManager class [URL] to load and play/pause the sound when necessary. I've got this working by placing a movieclip above the world and hittesting everything and when it finds a Zombie Penguin activates the SFX. If it finds the enemy and you leave the room or kill the enemy (basically any way it is removed from the screen) it will pause the sound (not stop) and then unpause if you go back/find another instance of that enemy.
The problem is, though, that if I STUN the enemy (not kill it) it plays it's dizzy animation (which consists of hit sitting down with stars spinning around it's head) the walking SFX continues to play as the enemy is still on the screen.Now in the Zombie Penguins .as file it has a boolean that for being stunned or not (bStunned), and a function (public function getZPStun():Boolean -- returns bStunned). this bStunned boolean is set to a default of false.I figure that I just have to reference that somewhere in the following code, but I'm not sure where. The Zombie Penguin's .as is ZPEnemy, so I'm calling it like so:
ZPEnemy.getInstance().getZPStun()
I've tried calling it as part of an if statement a in a number of placesin hopes that calling it will relate the current state of the bStunned boolean, but I can't seem to get it to work.
Code:
var bNotPenguin = true; for(var i = 0; i<this.numChildren; i++) //** Sound Manager Coding (May 15) {
We use FMS 3.5 for streaming IPTV. We have a number of channels and currently our mp4 files are all held in the Media subdirectory, below vod
We want to divide them into separate channels for the the stations with their own subdirectories for organised filing but cannot see any way of doing this and then referencing the correct directory with the rtmp: via XML.
In an attempt to organize my code, I'm trying to split up my (lengthy) main controller class into separate files, but my new files must still have access to the variables and functions of the main controller class.I'm trying to cut and paste code from my controller class into a new class/file, allowing the controller class to call the new class, and allowing the new class to have access to the controller class's properties and function.Assuming I'm not totally bludgeoning appropriate design patterns, below is my unsuccessful attempt at accomplishing this task:
In my project I used main document file, which could load multiple nested animations as a separate files. In the main document I had a global function, for example:
_global.onAnimationEnd(mc:MovieClip){...}
and in animations (could be nested) I just called it like:
Is it possible for (1)php script to write to seperate text files? Clarification; Say something like this partial code,
[Code]....
What I'm attempting to do is "ID" post to "schedule.txt" and "STime" post to "time.txt" is this possible or do I need to write a php script for each text file? Or am I way off base here? Now I have gotten "ID" to post to "schedule.txt" but not the other.
on (release) { _parent._parent.buttonClick("movie name", _parent._name); }
For the above script, am trying to load a swf file to load into an main movie file. This is for a flash website am working on, and i wanted to know if the above .Since having all the pages (6 pages) in one flash file, it would take long time to load, so am planning to have each of the 6 pages in an separate swf file and load these into main swf file, on click of a button, Also there needs to be a loading bar for each page.
