ActionScript 3.0 :: Timer Not Moving To Next Frame?

I was messing around and testing some code for a timer. I found an example when I was surfing the net and decided to use the example I found. The timer works great but for some reason it wont go to the next frame when the timer counts down to 0 (defined in the if method at the bottom of the code). Also the code doesn't give any errors either

I have this class named MovingObject which extends the MovieClip class. This class will be instantianted for several times. Inside this class is a Timer that handles the speed of the objects moving. There is another class called TheStage and this is where I will instantiate MovingObject (s).

Assuming that the code is working fine (I haven't debugged it), this makes the particles to move all at once. However after several seconds of running it, the particles seem not to be moving in synchronization with each other (because their distances between seem to get nearer).

ive set up a timer on a frame that will countdown and then go onto the next frame.
it seems to work but im getting this message in the output section;
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at sub1/Atime()

I making an animation for a preloader.In the animation, a 'line' draws a picuture.There are many lines,and I would like a mask to follow the lines so that it appears that they are being drawn.There are so many that it would be difficult to do this manually by moving a mask frame by frame with motion tweens.

I am making a project and using XML to bring in the data externally. However i have ran into a little snag. My code to query the XML works, but if i don't start with the first button, the rest of the buttons dont work.
If i click on the first button which takes you to a new frame and loads in the XML data into a text area the rest of the buttons will work and go the frame they are supposed to and work as intended.
However if i do not click on the first button first, the button will take you to the frame that it is supposed to take you to but the XML does not load.
The buttons are on a grid and are supposed to be clicked in any order and bring open the right information, which is why this is a problem.
here is the code that is on the second frame. All the other frames look just like this one but with the names changed to fit the names of the buttons.

I have put this code on the frames where each timer you have 30 sec to drag something and put it into a specific place. If you don't then I bring the user back to the starting frame. The issue that I noticed is that even if I cleared it and put a stop(); code it brings me back to the beginning of the game even if I did it ask it to do it! .
On each frame I put this

countDown = function () {

Aand it works even on frames that don't have this code on it, why ? I put this clearInterval(countDown); all the time. but didn't work.

So I've about hundred of map tiles and each title has some object which does some stuff. And one of things it should do is to update text (a time after which you need to do something) in text field. How should i do it better - with enter frame event and on each enter frame update it or set up a timer object which on each second would update the text in text field?

I just spent an hour searching for a TIMER that allows a movie to stay in a specific frame for maybe 6 seconds then automatically goes to the next. I've seen some but they are way off my actionscript capability.
I just need something simple,

I have a main movie (main.swf) that has an empty movieclip that calls for an external swf that we'll call imageclip1.swf. Now, I have a preloader set up in the imageclip1.swf, however, it doesn't want to move to the second frame after it's loaded when it's loaded into the main.swf. It works fine when I test it by itself. The actionscript (AS2) in the first frame imageclip1.swf:

What ends up happening is that it moves to frame 2 in main.swf. So I don't know what the problem is. I've tried every target scheme I could think of (_root, level0, this). I'm pretty green when comes to AS, Also, what would be the correct way to access the different hierarchies (i.e main.swf from imageclip1.swf)?

I have a project which consists of 4 frames (+ one starting frame), where each frame contains a Timer class based-animation. You can visit each frame by selecting the appropriate button.
Let's say the animation in frame1 lasts for a total of 30 seconds, but I'm too impatient to watch it and decide to go frame2, which also I don't like. In the background however, the animation for frame1 is still running, for when I go to frame 2 and go back to frame1, the animation starts both from the beginning and also continues to play from where I left off.
I also get an error:

I am trying to have text show up in a text field when the playhead was in a certain frame.My problem is that when the user clicks the next button, the text from the previous frame stays in the text field and I need the new text to show up.
