This code works perfectly the way I want it to. However, I am having a very difficult time splitting this code up. What I want to do is take the function PlantGrass and place it in another action script file [URL] to help organize my functions and classes. I tried putting the PlantGrass function in the second file, but I can never get it to work.
When I downloaded a developer edition from Flash Media Server page (11 Oct 2011). I tried to follow the setup instruction in readme.htm which comes in the zip of Linux version.I logged in to terminal as root user and call './installFMS' and then the terminal show me:
ERROR: Your operating system is not supported by the Adobe Flash Media Server installer.
Does it mean Flash Media Server Developer Edition cannot work on OS X Lion (10.7)?

C:alexflashportfolioimagesDualGallery.as, Line 15001: The name of package 'portfolio.images' does not reflect the location of this file. Please change the package definition's name inside this file, or move the file. C:alexflashportfolioimagesDualGallery.as
My class file is located here: C:alexflashportfolioimagesDualGallery.as My class file is defined as: package portfolio.images {.....
My FLA is importing it as : import portfolio.images.DualGallery;
Normally I use portfolio.classes and I have no trouble. My AS3 prefs are set to the alexflash folder.
So I have a movie clip associated with an external class in the linkage dialog. I put that movie clip on the stage. I have another external class that contains some code (not for the movie clip but for the stage). When I access the custom properties of the class in the actual flash file (not the external code) everything works fine.For example.myMovieClip.explodeTheCode = true;works in the main movie. However, it doesn't work in the external flash file when I have a reference to that movie clip.myRefToCustomMovieclip.explodeTheCode = true fails!It throws an error. In java, I'd just import the custom class the movie clip is linked to and then I can call all the extra custom methods on the movie clip in the external class I want. However, this does nothing. I still can't access any properties.So my question is, how do I access the custom features of a movie clip (that is linked to a custom class) from an external code file. It works in the movie, but not in the external source code.
Experience with Flash: very very little (very) Version: CS4 Operating system: XP Pro. I was given an FLV file to display on the web. I imported the file into flash and exported it as an html file.
The movie worked great online, but then I was asked to save a copy of the movie on a CD to send it to a client - I saved all the files in a folder. I tested it on my computer and I was able to view the movie, but when the client loaded the html page, all they saw was a bar (that has the volume & play buttons) and a green line that scrolls across it. Here's what it looks like
Some people can load the html file and view the movie and others cannot (on their desktop). On some computers I tried updating the flash player (I removed the existing one first), but it still did not work.
As much as I'd like to be, I am not a Flash developer - I just use it to the extent that I must (the nature of my job) Did I provide enough information for someone to be able to tell what the issue is and how to resolve it?
The template is built under Flash and has .swf, .fla and html files and was setup on an html background. To make things look nice I decided to use an XML web template as a background to his template. The problem starts from there.The XML web template allows us to add our own SWF files, so I decided to add the swf file of my friend's template.
The swf file was set to "noscale" and when I imported it into the web template it didn't fit properly. So I took the "noscale" off from the actionscript and imported it again. Even then the scaling of the swf file was not correct.As soon as you load the file, it scales towards the left and not center.My question is how can I write a code within the fla file so that when the swf file is loaded it automatically centers itself?2nd question is how can I setup the dimensions of the file as in terms of height and width of the file without getting it cropped. I tried to set it up from 840x610 to 650x430 however the swf content got chopped off (even with noscale off).
I have started the vhost setup. I have cpanel on the server and I added the domain and it resolves to the hosting account just fine pull up www.domain.com and goes to server.
I added the www.domain.com vhost. I pointed the application dir to /home/domain/public_html/applications/
I copied live over to applications dir. I setup user and pass for the virtual host login.
I would like to display an empty string in the button's label until the locale file loads. Once the locale file loads I would like to display what is returned by getLocaleString('title').
I think that this is what Binding is intended for however I think that I am approaching it wrong.
I know that I am not allowed to bind on a function. So do I need to allow access (using a get function) to my _dictionary property? What is the standard way to setup Binding for something like this?
This is my current Locale class.
public class Locale { private static var _dictionary:Dictionary = new Dictionary(); public static function loadResources():void {...}
i am using xmllistcollection for displaying data in list. whenever i run my application data is display in list control, but this warning has displayed in console. How can i remove this warning warning: unable to bind to property 'xmlnode' on class 'XML' (class is not an IEventDispatcher)
I'm trying to set up a website that uses the MovieClipLoader class to load external images & swfs. The loader is working but I can't seem to get the preloader text to work, ie the onLoadProgress. The Percent text just has jibberish when I test the movie. Could some tell me what I'm doing wrong. Attached is the test file that I'm working on
i have set up a data validation file in fmx and when the data is valid i want it to go and play the "preview" frame, but if it is not valid i want it to stay on that frame until the person edits it to be valid. i attached the file and can't figure out why my code is not working.
for some reason the hitTest I have setup in the attached file seems to work in relation with the blue box's that surround objects and not with the actually objects. Anyways I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the border.
is there a way you can setup a movie clip with dynamic buttons that would input data from a xml file..for instance i want the user to be able to click on a button and then that would pull information from an xml file and input into the movie clip..
For some reason I am unable to create a FLV file from a MP4 file with high bitrate. I even created a custom setting and specified bitrate as 2500 but the output file is always around 775.
am trying to export/publish a swf of a dress up game I made so I can put it in Dreamweaver and upload it to my site but I keep getting this error message:"Error Creating Flash Movie File: Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long".I am also unable to test the movie, it gives me the same error message.
I have two questions about how the XML class in AS3 works.First, does the XML class care about the initial processing instruction when created from a string like this?:[code]Second, how can I add that procession instruction to an XML object that I am working with so that toXMLString() returns a string that looks like the above XML? (So that it includes the processing instruction.)
I'm using a library that has a function that returns an instance of some class Engine.
I'd like to tack on some interfaces to Engine, so I subclass it class InterfacedEngine extends Engine implements AwesomeInterface. but when I change the code that uses the classes from this:
var engine:Engine = generateEngine();
to this: var interfacedEngine:InterfacedEngine = generateEngine();
It gives me a runtime error (elision mine):
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert ...::Engine@1bc2bf11 to ....InterfacedEngine.
I almost feel dumb posting this, but I am develpoing a project and seem unable to trace from within a class. It definatley helps to have this ability and I have yet to find a suitable work around.
i made a class for connection with php-script, which handles sql-requests. it sends requests via URLLoader(), here is simplified code:
Actionscript Code: public class SQLWrapper extends MovieClip{ private var serverUrl:String = "http://192.168.177.128/";private var request:URLRequest; private var
i'm using "iloveitaly"s easing scrollbar class, and it works great. however, i added an effect that i want on my scrollbar, and it doesnt work quite how it should. what should happen is when u press the dragger, it should duplicate itself and then fade out, giving it kinda a "mouse trail" type effect i guess you can call it. anyway, here is the code for the part in the class that doesnt work:
I'm trying to replace instances created by dragging and dropping into a MovieClip through Flash's IDE with actual classes so I can add them to a game loop and have them as actual entities. In other words, I'm trying to create a streamlined way to allow developers to visually add their entities to a platforming engine I'm working on.
This is my third attempt at it and I'm completely stuck.The code below loops through a movieclip that contains an exported symbol with a class linked to it named MyEntity. However, it loses its extension to BaseClass and thus doesn't move when compiled.
It inherits: MovieClip > BaseClass > MyEntity. However when compiled with the IDE it ignores BaseClass and just does MovieClip > MyEntity.
My code is designed to find and store the position of MyEntity, remove it from the container movieclip, add a brand new instance of it (with the base being proper) then set that new instance to the same position of the original.
for ( var i:int = 0; i < LayerInIDE.numChildren; i++ ) { // first we want to get all the display objects in the layer // these are objects that were placed from within the Flash IDE (ie. dragged and dropped into the MovieClip var original:DisplayObject = LayerInIDE.getChildAt( i );
[code]....
This does not work.
It outputs Game.entities::MyEntity [class MyEntity] false. MyEntity is a proper class and DOES extend from BaseClass. However, the issue is the IDE weirdly removes the reference to the base class - as if MyEntity never had a base class. I cannot seem to recreate it as getting the reference to the class also returns that MyEntity never had a BaseClass. However, if I type in var newEnt = MyEntity(); instead of getting the class name through getDefinitionByName it works normally and extends from BaseClass.I need it to extend from BaseClass as that is the main class all entities in my game engine require to use.
I ran into some trouble trying to load a new image from the class other than the "document" class. Attach is a sample of what I'm dealing with. Loader.as is the document class. I can create an image fine from there but not from GamePanel.as.
I am trying to use "maxPauseBufferTime" property in NetStream class.I am using Adobe Flash Pro CS3. I have defined an object by the name nsStream of NetStream class. When I write nsStream and put a dot next to nsStream it shows me a drop down list of the properties of NetStream. However it doesn't show me maxPauseBufferTime property. I also tried the same with Adobe Flash Pro CS5. Even there the drop down list for nsStream doesnt show me the maxPauseBufferTime property.The adobe help page (first link that shows up when I google for as3 NetStream. Forum rules doesn't allow me to post the link here) indicates that this property is part of NetStream class.
xml_object.childNodes.length will return the number of childnodes there are. But I don't see a way to get at the number of childnodes of a particular type. This will not tell me, for example, how many childnodes of type "b" that "a" has. I can't see Flash XML support being this sparse. Is there a built-in way of accessing the nth child of a node of a particular element name or am I stuck with accessing it only by number.
When using the class listed below, I am unable to add a CLICK function that will not break the piece. I want to add another tween on CLICK that clears all mcs off of the stage except the e.target, which will have a zoom applied to it... I get my trace fine, but then I am unable to CLICK again on that particular mc, and the proximity begins to break.
I have a class called BgItem that I want many other classes to extend. But I also want to be able to use instances the BgItem class itself. Within the BgItem class file, I want to be able to detect whether the specific instance is of the BgItem class or an extension of it. I know I can detect if a class is in an object's chain of inheritance using the "is" operator, but how do I detect if a class is at the end of the chain?
