ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating And Targeting Dynamicly Created MC ?

Mar 20, 2010

I've used something similar to this script (AS2) to create and target MC-buttons. But I lost myself when trying to rewrite this to AS3

Original AS2 (works well):
var fruit:Array = new Array ("apple", "orange", "lemon", "banana");
var i:Number;[code]............

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating A 360 Model With Dynamicly Loaded Images?

Dec 6, 2005

I'm creating a 3D "spinaround" 360 model, from 40 images of the model. I want the 360 "spin" to run as smooth as possible with the dynamicly loaded images. I'm loading the images with a MovieClipLoader object, and afterward placing them on a timeline in another movieclip. I've created a layer for each image, because I couldn't get it to work when all placed in one layer. Now I've tried a million different setups, but can't get it to work with more than 23 images??? Can't Flash handle more than the 23 images in a movieclip??? Or is it perhaps the number of movieclips in the main movieclip, with an image placed in each that is screwing things up...??

Here's a link to the flashmovie I've createt so far... The first couple of turns to the right should run pretty smooth, but then it goes wrong...? [URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Targeting A Movie Clip Created With XML Information?

Jan 27, 2005

I am having trouble targeting a movie clip that was dynamically generated from information in an XML document. Basically, what I want to do is be able to manipulate the movie clip after it was generated by the initial function. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to properly target the clip even though I am pretty sure I have the proper title and location (tried both _root. and _level0.).[URL]the string at the bottom - "_level0.mc_image2" - is the name of the last movie clip (with an image inside) to the right.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Targeting Dynamically Created Nested Movieclips?

Feb 17, 2010

I'm dynamically creating movieclips with dynamically created movieclips inside them and am having trouble with targeting them.

Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to achieve, in the real file there are a lot more movieclips and I'm creating and naming them with a for loop.

This one is just one Sprite created inside another sprite. I can target the top level sprite named "testname". However when i try target the nested MC it throws an error.

The bottom couple of traces are just test MCs I've made to make sure i got the syntax right, on targeting nested movieclips.

PHP Code:

var holder:Sprite = new test1();
holder.name = "testname";
this.addChild(holder);

If you load the swf [URL] ) the string at the bottom - "_level0.mc_image2" - is the name of the last movie clip (with an image inside) to the right.

Also, if you look at the code, you'll see this is a modification of the portfolio from: [URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Targeting Mess - Blank Movie Clip Created In The Preloader Swf

Jan 1, 2004

I have a looped sound and some components in my main movie (scroll bar) which for some reason is really bogging down my swf and causing the preloader bar not to show up until like 46% or something ridiculous.

So I am trying to solve the problem by having a preloader swf as suggested by Kode in this thread. However, now all my targeting is messed up in my main movie. Everything that was _root has to change but I can't tell what to load it into. I tried using _parent, _parent._parent, _root.container_mc (which is a blank movie clip created in the preloader swf that main is loaded into after the preloader is 100%) and others but nothing works. Even the simple looped sound which was originally just _root.backsound.start(0,999) can't be targeted. how to target things on my main stage based on the preloader swf?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating Instance Names For Dynamically Created Movieclips?

May 28, 2011

I am trying to use a for loop, to place 5 instances of the same movieclip on the stage. In the loop I used .name to give each movieclip a unique instance name. But when I try to reference one of those instance names in an event listener I get an error. Here is an example of what I am trying to do:

Quote:

var xPos:int = 120;
var yPos:int = 60;
for (var i:Number = 1; i<=5; i++) {

[Code].....

This code generates an error saying that the cStar2 property is undefined. In the example above, does the for loop create 5 copies of the movieclip starC_moov, and give them unique instance names cStar1, cStar2, cStar3, cStar4 and cStar5?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating A Function Logic For Dynamically Created XML Buttons?

Mar 17, 2010

Now I've dynamically created some buttons using XML. They're spread around the stage and I've modified a tooltip script to give each button a tooltip on Mouse_Over. But to se the logic and make it work using AS3 is hard (for me). I want a function that accept to parameters: Tooltip text and  Object to tooltip. In my code I get this error msg when initiating the function on dynamically created buttons: 1118: Implicit coercion of a value with static type flash.display:Sprite to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip. I beleive there are more than one thing here needing a fix.

private var Background01 : Class;
[Embed(source='graphics/backgrounds.swf', symbol='background02')]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamicly Draw An Animation?

Nov 5, 2009

I tried using the search function, but to no avail. I'm a novice at flash, and a beginner at AS. I'm also an artist, and I'm wondering if there is any sort of script that could dynamicly draw (just like a recording of the brush input I put in, but played back in a frame) what I input.

Heres an example, I write, the AS saves the pathing input (in order too) then calculates with a variable number the time too take per stroke (aka, 1 stroke = 0.5/s, or vector point 0.1/s or 0.2/s).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamicly Assign Movieclip Instance Names To A Variable?

Sep 12, 2009

The movie I'm creating will have many movie clips on each frame and each will have a mouseover tooltip.I have the code set so that I can mouseover a defined movie clip and I properly get the tooltip.[code]This works, where n1 is the instanced name of the movie clip.What I want is to be able to define a variable "whichNav" that will dynamically change to a movie clip instanced name when I mouse over that movie clip, then I can replace "n1" in the above code with "whichNav" and not have to remake the above code for every movie clip in the frame.For example, I could have movie clips instanced as n1, n2, n3, n4... ect. I want a variable that will track which movie clip I have my mouse over, and input that variable into the above code to create the tool tip for each movie clip.
