View 1 RepliesI have a dialog box object, every time a dialog box is created I want to disable clicking on everything else until it's closed. I was thinking about doing ...mouseChildren = false;, but because the dialog box is a child of that itself it wouldn't work out too well. Is there an easier way to disable mouse events on only certain things? I know I could add this as a separate child directly to my main displayobject, aside from the rest of the GUI, but is that the best way?

My JSFL has the above code.And on the 3rd line, I get a dialog box :which has title : "Resolve library conflict"two radio button options : "replace","dont replace"two buttons : "ok","cancel" Due to this dialog box, I have to manually monitorthe script execution and click on a button. want to either :1. Suppress these kind of dialog boxex altogether.2. or programatically provide a default option to these kind of dialogs
I would like to have a quick message displayed on the screen for a few seconds after a user clicks a button. I can't seem to find an Alert Box or Dialog Box option in Flash CS4.

theDialog = PopUpManager.createPopUp( this, TheDialogClass, true ) as TheDialogClass;
theDialog.addEventListener(FlexEvent.CREATION_COMPLETE, cpuIntensiveCalc);
At the end of cpuIntensiveCalc the dialog is removed. The dialog informs the user that "something is going on, please stand by."
The problem is that cpuIntensiveCalc starts before the dialog draws. So the user experience is that the application freezes for 10 seconds with no indicator, then the modal dialog flashes quickly (less than a second) on screen.
The Adobe docs say this about creation_complete
Dispatched when the component has finished its construction, property processing, measuring, layout, and drawing.
So this feels like the correct event. In the name of completeness, I also tried

cpuIntensiveCalc();
Each time I click the "fold_btn" I need to be able to add 10 points and display it in a text box (rot1_txt).

I am using browseForSave() to give the user a chance to save a file before navigating back to a previous screen. As of now the cancel button on the save dialog just closes the save dialog. I want to see if the cancel button was clicked, and if so continue navigating back to the previous screen without saving. Right now the person has to save the file in order to move back. I am using actionscript 3 to make a point and click game. On frame 1 there are two buttons, button 1 and 2. On frame 3 there are two buttons, button A and B. I want it so that after I click button 1 on frame 1, button A on frame 3 will be hidden or when I click button 2 on frame 1, button B on frame 3 will be hidden. Im creating an xml based mp3 player in AS3. I have everthing working except the repeat song part. I need a code to loop the song endlessly on the click of a button, while the song is playing. Say the user is listening to a song and wants to hear it again. They can click on the loop button and replay the song until they click on the loop button again, to take the loop off. Once the loop button is clicked again, the current song ends and plays the next song in the playlist. As the playlist continues to play, I hear another song that I want to replay, so I click on the loop button. Also I need to be able to pause the song and then play it, while the loop is in affect.

I have a page full of characters for a project I'm working on now, and I want to add some interactivity to the page by making each of the characters clickable and having a description of the character pop up that you can then close. I have included 3 images of what I'd ideally like tohappen.Picture 1: The page in just a normal state, nothing happening.Picture 2: On rollover, I would like the character to pop out and enlarge.I know how to make it enlarge on rollover, but I don't understand how you would make it come to the front above other layers. with understanding how to do.
Picture 3: I want a description like this to pop up when you click on the character. I have a layer at 50% opacity to fade the background out as well. I need to know how to:1. Make this image show up when you click on the respective character.2. Make this image disappear when you click on the red X button at the top right
