ActionScript 3.0 :: Insert Character Where The Cursor Points?
Mar 16, 2012
I made a virtual keyboard w/c i will use on touchscreen, everything is ok except for when I wanted to insert a letter in a text field it always places itself at the end, the problem is that if I needed to insert a character I have to delete all of the text in front of it before I could put that letter.
I had tried using setSelection but still nothing changes. A
I'm attempting to put together a 'French Accents' keypad (basically a few buttons that insert a French character into a textfield when pressed). At the moment im having the following issues with it:
The french characters always appear at the end of the string despite where the cursor is focused.
I can't get the cursor/caret to focus after any letter generated by a press of a button rather than a keyboard input.
Here is my current button code:
ActionScript Code: on(release){ //The getCaretIndex method returns the index of the blinking insertion point (caret) position.
What Im looking for is a tutorial that basically, if you scroll over one thing, the cursor changes to one shape, then if you roll over something else, it changes to something else.I'd want it to be as simple as possible, only using one layer otherwise I get a bit confused!!
I have a series of buttons that when clicked will enter a character into a dynamic textfield. Here is my code:
on (release) { //if the focus is on the answer text box if (_root.answerFocus) {
[code]...
This works but I dont know how to get round the following issues: Once a button is pressed the cursor moves out of the textbox once the character is placed inside, each character always goes to the end of my text line (as += implies but I can't find a workaround).
I'd to insert date on a richtexteditor when the user click on a button. This part is easy, more difficult, how to insert this on cursor position. Cursor position may be on the beginning, middle or end of the text.
I have a magnify glass cursor for my portfolio website and it's working fine, except I need it to stop before it reaches the edges of the stage as when it is in a browser it "cuts off" the magnify glass and it looks weird, see on my site and move the cursor to the very right or left: [URL]. The code I have to control my glass is here and I just need to be able to add some x,y etc coordinates somewhere to stop it at certain points on the stage?
I want to programmatically insert formatted text at the current cursor position in a Flex 4 (Spark) RichEditableText control. I could just modify the .text property But that doesn't allow me to insert formatted text. So I believe I need to interact with either .textFlow or .textFlow.interactionManager somehow? However, TLF is quite complex and I can't find a simple way to do what I want.
I have textfield and a custom curso movie clip on a parent movie clip. Now I need to move the cursor the characters on the textfiled ,whenever there is righ of left movement. It is similar to the movement of the cursor on the webpages or the login textboxes.I'm trying to find a solution for placing the cursor movie clip on the particular character, but could not.
i'm making a small "add news" movie for a site in actionscript. When I insert an image in my textField, I can only move the cursor with my keys and not with my mouse anymore. I put the image always in front. I also have to click one time in my textfield, otherwise my text appears under my image. When I click it aligns to the right.
When I create a TLF text area that is editable at runtime (which means that it can get a user input at runtime) I set the text direction to the 'right-to-left' definition in both the 'container and flow' and the 'paragraph' sections and set the language for Arabic or Hebrew at the 'locale' setting. I also set the text alignment to the 'align to start' mode. Now at runtime there's a stange thing. When I try to click with the mouse cursor on the editable TLF text-box, it's not displaying the text icon cursor and don't allow me to insert text inside.
But when I move my mouse cursor over the right side of the editable TLF text box, it change his appearance to the familiar text cursor which indicate that if you click here you will be able to insert text input inside. So my problem is how can I make it that only when I will hover over the TLF text box itself, the mouse cursor will be changed to text cursor icon and when I will hover beside its right side, it will remain at the normal cursor mode.
If i have two or more input boxes to create a crossword puzzle, how can i make the cursor automatically jump to the second input box after the first input box is filled with a character?
i have few button to let user click and the symbol will insert into the input text. i change my input box to 'symbol' but i facing the problem that i can't insert character other than symbol...
I have been tasked with trying to create a drawing tool that draws dotted lines as you drag the mouse across the stage. I can easily capture the points on MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE and store them in a vector and then draw the points as dots:
The problem is that I need to calculate evenly distributed points on an ever growing Vector of points so I can only draw the line between say every 5th point (say using modulus). I have been battling away with Bezier curve equations both Quadratic and Cubic but still can't quite figure out how to convert my Vector of points into an evenly distributed Vector of Points without sucking the life from the CPU.
I have a 9 frames image of a character. In other language generally i used to make character animation by looping the array consisting of different frames and drawing each frame when pressing key. What i want to do is when i press left or right key, i want to draw each frame that makes character movement and update x coordinates of frames, and it will appear as character is moving.
i was wondering if any of you out there could tell me how it is possible to make a movieclip of a character and when the character is dragged about the screen by the curser, how do you make the characters arms and legs swing about in a realistic fashion.
I am making use of a custom cursor on itemRenderers in a List component. The custom cursor works just fine except when I mouse over the Text component which is a child of the itemRenderer at which point I get two cursors, the custom and an iBar one on top of the other. Here's the code:
so the custom cursor I'm using works on the main timeline of my project. However, there are buttons in the application that load in movie clip pop-up windows and when this happens the cursor stays on the main timeline behind the movie clip resluting in the cursor not being seen. This is the code I'm currently using:
Working on a small kiosk app that runs in Firefox for Ubuntu. Mouse.hide() works for everything else, but the cursor is showing up in Firefox for Ubuntu
Is it possible to make a custom cursor with restraints (meaning you only see the cursor when you put your mouse in a certain spot, by defining both the max and min of the x & y), that is placed inside a movie clip; then make the movie clip move on the stage when you click certain buttons.
I am trying to make a simple game in flash it is a target shooting game i would like to make it so that the mouse cursor dissapears and a crosshair is shown as the cursor (if you get what i mean). I have created the crosshair and made it into a graphic symbol called: "crosshair" so what is the script i need to make it the cursor for the game
in the swf, when my mouse reaches a dynamic text box, the cursor always changes to the 'I' cursor and the text can be highlighted.how to prevent this from occurring?
For some strange reason, i cant get the precise cursor to work on the pencil tool. I prefer to use the pencil tool when drawing things. I usually use the brush tool for painting in the lines , or sketching something out. I did went to preferences, but even so, the pencil still doesnt turn into a precise cursor.
I'm working on an AS3 flash animation where I am using a custom cursor. At the end of the animation I want to default back to the regular arrow/hand cursor
how to change the cursor when move over a chart in flex i have tried useHandCursor="true" but it's not working in charts.....and it should show values also....
I would like my character to move as if he was drunk I am unsure how to do that I am using the keyboard for his movement. I also have a character that moves at random I would like the drunk moving character to be able to catch this character and play a scene from within the drunk characters movie clip but I want this character to try and escape the idea is the drunk character gets points for how long he is able to hang on to this character
