What's wrong with my code?

I've got two different instances of two different MovieClips on the stage of the fla. Visually they're identical but one is facing left and one is facing right. When the file runs, the one that's facing left appears on the stage while the one that's facing right is set to be invisible. What I'm trying to do is have the one that's facing left go invisible when the right arrow is pressed and for the one that's facing right to appear in it's place and accept further input from the right arrow key. When I run the file, the one facing left moves just fine. My problem is that when I press right, the one facing left disappears and the one facing right appears in it's place but it just moves once and stops.

It currently has the following listeners active. When you click a blurb, you will zoom into it. When you click it again (or anywhere on the flash object) it will zoom back out.If you let it idle it will zoom in and out at roughly 10second intervals.There are also keyboard functions that when you click on the arrow keys it will move the camera in various ways. The keys only work in the zoomed out state and are disabled on zoom inThe problem that I'm having is with these. On startup, the keys work fine. If you let it idle and have it automatically zoom in then out, the keys will work fine. However, if you manually click out of a blurb, the keyboard event listeners stop working. I'm not sure why this happens since both the auto-zoom and the manual zoom both call the same function to zoom out.
At first it seems to be that the window is losing focus, since if I click on white space I can use the keyboard again. The problem though, is that when I use an DEACTIVATE event listener to test it, it doesn't show the flash object losing focus. Because of that, I'm not really sure how I would go about fixing this problem.

I have been been testing for keyboard events one key at a time. Now I want to test two keys being pressed or released at the same time. I am unclear on how to do this. Do I need to indicate this intention in the functions parameter

Im trying to make a game at the moment, with a little character who runs around the screen. To do this i have keyboard event listeners on the character.I have an inventory which opens when you click a button, and has number of things to click on.My problem is that when i close the inventory, by clicking the close button, my keyboard event listeners no longer work on my character.
Keyboard events also dont work on the stage at this point, and i cant understand what i need to do.Its as if nothing has focus anymore for keyboard events. Mouse clicks still work fine.

I have a picture upload function in my flash and when I upload a picture I lose focus on the flash. This results in that all my listeners disappears. I cant click buttons, use dragbars etc. This only happens in FF. I am using flash player 10 and Snow Leopard. I've tried to get the focus back by sending a call to javascript:

I am moving movieclips around my stage in relation to the users mouse location. All of my movieclips have the registration point placed in the default top left corner. As an object moves off the stage to the left it suddenly disappears when the registration point reaches the edge of the stage. I would like to see the whole object move off the screen instead of just disappearing when the left corner reaches the edge. I would move the registration point to the right side but I would like the movieclip to be able to move off all sides of the stage (top, bottom, left, right)

I have a pretty linear slide show presentation.It starts with a navigate function that listens fr keyboard presses(space, right or left arrows) and also a mouse click listener, and these either advance or rewind the show a slide at a time.On about a dozen of the 60 slides, I call an external swf or flv/f4v and i have built in conditions based on frame number, so that I can kill movies and unload swfs before moving on.Make sense?So, i'm wondering, is there a way to code all the exceptions once and have them bind to the mouse listener and the keyboard listener?Or should I just code all the exceptions in the mouse listener function and the keyboard case listener?Or am I totally going the wrong direction?Thinking out loud, I guess i could write 2 different simple functions, one that is straight advance frame -to- frame, and one that is for the "exceptions" frames, that kills a movie or unloads a swf, and set a boolean variable based upon what frame the movie is on.

I'm trying to figure out how to get buttons to be activated by keyboard presses. I have found how to do that with specific keys ... but not with ANY keypress. I'm making a game for tiny children and they can't manipulate the mouse well. So I'm setting up a few things on stage that will run in a certain order when the child presses any key on the keyboard. For example, any key is pressed, dog wags his tail .... any key is pressed again, cat jumps, any key is pressed a third time, cow munches hay, and so on till it goes through a bunch of animal animations, then goes back to the first one. I'm pretty new at this stuff and have been banging my head against google for days trying to find the answer to this out there with no luck! I could do either movieclips or movie clips inside buttons if that makes sense.

I'm creating a virtual keyboard for a touchscreen Flex app and i'm trying to simulate a key press by dispatching a KeyboardEvent. I've written a handler function to listen for the event and act accordingly. So far so good but it's starting to get complicated as i have to manage the focused textInputs (easy), the cursor position in those fields (not to so easy), etc.Now, if only there was a way to actually dispatch a KeyboardEvent that Flex would actually interpret as a genuine key press all those issues would be gone.

I have this code to move my player...

...however, when the left key is pressed, the player jumps left once, pauses, then continues to move left.

I'm working in Flash CS4 and I would try to do it in AS3 but my teacher isn't very familiar with it, so I've decided to do it AS2. But so far he hasn't been able to, that is why I AM DESPERATELY coming to you.

I'm trying to get flash to recognize ctrl+z and ctrl+y for redo and undo functionality, though the detection is cut short when i hold the ctrl button first it prints out 17 but when i hit the z it just kills the capture. how would i trap all keys?

Can event listeners only be added to the class which dispatched the event? I ask because I want to have the logic for the listener on the main class, and the action is dispatched on click from a thumb which is instantiated in a scroller class. Kinda like this:

i am doing this: press buttons on screen to move character left or right, "swipe" elsewhere on screen to do other stuff.
This is how i have handled it:
Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.TOUCH_POINT;
stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_BEGIN, onTouchBegin);
stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_END, onTouchEnd);
buttonContainer.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_ OVER, tOver);
buttonContainer.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_ OUT, tOut);
this works fine, just wondering if anyone has another way to handle it. it seems excessive to have 4 handlers for touch input, but i cant figure out any other way.
TOUCH_OVER and TOUCH_OUT check a switch statement to enable/disable buttons within buttonContainer.
TOUCH_BEGIN and TOUCH_END are used to store points and get a "swipe angle" (only if TOUCH_END is not over a button)
my only problem is i started having glitch's i think becuase so many listeners including: ORIENTATION_CHANGE, KeyboardEvents, Event.DEACTIVATE
this is why i ask if perhaps im missing someway to simplify the touch input listeners

I'm making a game in AS3 and I need to move an object from left to right using the keyboard, it works fine but the problem is that when i push left or right the object moves but not in a fluid way, I assigned to movement to KEY_DOWN but first it moves the ammount of distance i gave up then pauses for half a second and then I moves fluid in the direction i gave. Now my question is how do I need to program it so that when I push the button it move fluid in that direction immediately instead of taking a little pause?

I want to differentiate the LEFT SHIFT key on the keyboard from the RIGHT SHIFT key. The code below will do that on my PC Laptop but not on my Macbook Pro. Someone knows a workaround or the reason why?
