ActionScript 3.0 :: Make Function Only Apply To Current Frame?
May 25, 2010
i have a function which when the space bar is pressed it goes to a different frame. However the function can still be performed on different frames, how can i make the code only apply to that frame?
ActionScript Code:
function spacebarGoto(event:Event){
if(pressSpacebar){
gotoAndStop("start");
}
}
I need to make each item in my XML unique so that flash can apply a different function to each item in the component. Can you give the items an instance name in XML?
Code: import com.digicrafts.events.*; //Timer Set Time var jumpTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000, 1);
I'm trying to get a quick replay command, "pressing space returns the scene to the previous frame".
[Code]...
The current function returns me to a previous frame (40), however the event does not stop, rather it keeps on adding new events ontop of each other once it returns to main frame. The main frame being where the actionscript is executed.
By typeing the text in the input box while staying on frame1, DOSEN'T show on the dymanic_text_box2 on frame 5?? How to make the dymanic_text_2 apply it's text when the text is been typed staying on frame 1?
I have four movie clips (.f4v) in 4 frames in a movie with watch buttons.. This movie has them been imported into a main movie container that has next and previous buttons. However if i play a movie then hit next frame, the movie continues to play in the background. The code below shows one of the actionscripts for a movie clip and then the main actionscript in the main movie.[code]...
I'd like to control a movie clips current frame by another movie clips action script.I realise the following controls the outside (root) frame time line:
on(release){ _root.gotoAndStop(1); }
but I'm not sure how to apply that to my other movie clip. I'm guessing it would be something like this:
I have tried this a dozen different ways and I really am at my wits end.
I have a presentation that works like a powerpoint. Everything is working as it should, except one part. I have a movie clip with an instance named slides, and I want to actively display which frame number you are in this move clip.
I have tried more than one why but I see no reason why this should not work:
var frameNum:Number = this.slides.currentFrame; this.frameText.text = "Pquina " + frameNum + " de 173";
It appears to work at first, but does not update when I navigate the slides. It constantly says 1. Before I just added a function to the back and next buttons to frameNum++ and frameNum--, but after I created the Menu I would prefer it to automatically detect what frame it is on.
What i want to do, is, make it wait before it the timeline goes to the certain frame#, so the image_loader1 loads its image1. I'm making it wait, not because it takes time loading (which it would not, since image1 is already on the stage, loaded up in image_loader2) but the image still takes time to show on the image_loader1 (half a second).So, I want my_btn to be functioned like this that it performs its first action which is
'image_loader1.loadMovie("imagepath");' and then 'gotoAndPlay(frame#);'..
i am trying to make a mouse-drawing function which is frame independent (for collision detection).somehow my trigonometry brain part seems to be out of order. fill in the blanks?here is my code so far (simplified):
I want to make a function that's only executable if the right frame is active in the animation.In this case, the frame 1 (and make all the rest frames have it's cursor normal):
ActionScript Code: Mouse.hide(); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE,follow); function follow(evt:MouseEvent){
I have 2 functions, 1 loaded before another. Some value are determine by the other function data, but since one of it has to load before the other 1, how should I get the data that is loaded after current function?
private function wMessage():void { Message.width=Name.width+20; }
[Code]....
I've taken out some other unnecessary codes, but as you can see Name position is set according by the position + width of Message, but I want Message's width to be not smaller than Name
I am using action script 3 and need to know how to apply more than 1 action to a frame label, ie; I have 5 pages of images and have actions coded as follows:
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,play1); function play1(event:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop("1Lrg");
I have a show I'm trying to create, I need to put the navigation buttons on different places on each frame due to content.
Code: on (release) { prevFrame(); } or Code: on (release) { nextFrame(); } and Code: on (release){ gotoAndplay("Scene1")}
I can get the symbols that I'm using as buttons to work in the first and second frame, but they will not work after that. Each frame has a Code: stop (); Action applied to it.
I have tried: copy and pasting the same symbol into multiple frames, dragging new symbols into multiple frames, creating folders for each frame and dragging new symbols into those folders then onto a frame, and I'm still not having luck. This presentation is set up to run in Flash 9 with Bottom up loading order and ASP2
I've got various mc's sitting inside my overall site. The FPS of the overall site is 20 but I want to run another mc inside it at 10 and different one at 28.Is this an actionscript task or is there another way of doing it?
I'm using this tutorial to create buttons with displacement mapping for my simple game menu. These buttons need to be clickable; i.e. once you click on them you move to a different frame. Everything works fine on the first frame, but when I click to the next frame the displacement map disappears and will not apply to the buttons on that frame. Plus, when I click my "back" button to return to Frame 1, the displacement effect has disappeared entirely.
This is the code which is in the base "Game" class, which links to the main Flash file.
It calls the JitteryButton class, another external class, which I don't think is the problem, but I can post if if necessary. It's very similar to the one in the tutorial. Also, I need to add different buttons on other frames of the menu, but if I call them in this external class, it doesn't recognise them.
can anyone spot why this might stop working like it does? I was thinking about instead of using "Game" as an external Actionscript file, I could actually write it into Flash as Actionscript on a layer - would this work?
how can I get the current frame of a MovieClip.It's an animation that just loops over and over when its opened with ctrl+enter.On the stage its just one layer and one frame, but when it's double clicked, it has its own timeline with 20 frames.
Actionscript Code: //what i had but it shows frame 1trace(myMovieClipInstance.currentFrame);
display the current frame when it changes. So something with a while loop. Like while the movie clip is playing, display the current frame.
How to get the current frame? At first its in the starting frame. What I want to do is when I press Enter gotoAndStop(3); and again pressing enter key and if its in frame 5 gotoAndStop(5); etc. So how to know which frame I'm in at the present moment? One way I did is giving all the keyframes (3, 5, etc) a particular label and check using 'currentLabel == 3 ,..etc'. But is there any way to do it without giving it a label by merely using the keyframe numbers?
hi I have created an actionscript function which stops an animation on a specific frame which works fine. I have then loaded in a php file with a variable which will contain the number for the frame i want the animation to stop on. This has loaded in fine and i have loaded it in a function. what i cant seem to do is to get the variable into the function which tells the animation to stop playing.[code]
Instead of applying it to just one button I want to apply it to many on the stage, how do i add the names of the buttons to the function? I tried separating with commas but no luck
I feel like such an idiot but after trying endlessly I still haven't managed to come up with a way to display the current frame number of nested movie clip ("ecke1") (in a dynamically created text field).The problem really is that I don't know how to have flash keep updating the variable. Here's my latest attempt:
Code: var frame:int = 0; addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,updateframe,false,0,true);
