View 9 RepliesI have a couple of objects on the stage and want the user to be able to select one and then use a common set of buttons (with functions attached) to change the selected object's color, rotation, size, etc.
I've got the functions worked out, and can apply them easily as along as I hardcode the object instance names in the functions. However, I can't figure out how to allow the user to select a particular object and then pass the instance name of the selected object to an appropriate function.
this is my code I've been looking all over for an example of setting a mask using AS2I have a container MovieClip I create dynamically I've tried to attach a movieclip to the container then set mask before loading the swfI would like to know how to dynamically generate a mask or use a symbol from the library or stage if need be whatever works.This is my code.

do you think it would be possible to have a blur filter effect on a mask. basically i will have a jpg as a background, a mask that follows the cursor, and where ever the cursor goes the jpg will be fuzzy under the mask.
How do I apply a layer mask to every layer in my movie? After I highlight all of the layers and put them in the layer mask, the layers that are in folders will not go in the layer mask.

mc1.mask = mymask;
mc2.mask = mymask;
Only mc2 receives the mask. How can I set the same mask for two different MovieClips without having to resort to putting them both in a single MovieClip?

I want to apply a gradient mask to a movieclip that contains a flv video. I'm aware that i would need to cache the movieclip as a bitmap in order to apply a mask using actionscript, but would that work even if the movieclip itself contains an flv video?
View 1 Repliesim going crazy with the simple matherfather task. i want to make a mask and applay it to a picture but i need to do it in actionsript. so what i do is create all necessery objs. at stage, acces them in class. set movie's clip mask and it's working but not the way i want. i want to have empty hole inside of mask which is a movie clip. that is not possible until i make a empty hole connected to the edge of mask with empty space. only then its showin the empty hole (and the connecting empty space aswell and) [URL]

However I'm trying to make a Xray screen for all of them, so when I click and drag the Xray screen around, it will reveal the images loaded under each picture, creating a sort of Xray effect.I tried using masks, however since the images are all loaded dynamically they are its own class with its own layers, I'm trying to make a mask that will work for all of them (I load 2 picture for each image, example car.jpg and carb.jpg, b.jpg being the inside image).so I have my stage ---> [MyXray Box, and my Images

I have then loaded in a php file with a variable which will contain the number for the frame i want the animation to stop on. This has loaded in fine and i have loaded it in a function. what i cant seem to do is to get the variable into the function which tells the animation to stop playing.[code]

adding multiple childs to an array these childs are added using timer after a time interval.actually there two classes and child of both classes are added to stage one through timer as i described and other through keyboard event. now is it possible to do this if yes than how?? and is it possible to apply hittest object between these two array.

I've an empty array and some global variables, and I have two movie clips in my library: one is a trigger, second is the movie clip that is placed on the stage when the trigger is activated (a testdummy, if you want).

...I get an obvious error : Scene 1, Layer 'actions', Frame 1, Line 66 1120: Access of undefined property dummy. Because dummies are created within a function. I don't have any trouble addressing items in the 'dummies' array though.
Though dummies are crated by the same pattern, data stored in them is the whole point of creating the application.
how can I apply a function to each of those dummies, which is executed on click and affects only one dummy?
I have a swf one one server that is pulling content from an Amazon S3 server. I have set up, for now, a generic cross-domain policy to allow all domains access:[code]These seem to be playing nicely (for the most part) as my swf is loading json, xml, etc. files from the S3 server just fine now. What it's not doing right is loading swfs from the S3 server, when it tries to do that it throws this exception:[code]I assume this is because remote swfs could contain malicious executable code. Do I actually need to set the allowDomain to something or is there some other 'more correct' way of allowing my swf to load up other remote swfs?
