I have a button (bttn1) which when clicked plays a movieclip (bounce), but I would like it to play from frame 1 then stop on a desired frame(say frame 10), so when a second button is clicked (bttn2) it plays from frame 10. Hopefully i've explained it ok...

I am semi familiar with flash, but definitely not a pro. I am trying to get a game working and have found some codes that either don't work at all or only half work. Here is what I am trying to do:1.) Across the main timeline are 5 cars going from left to right and right to left, like they are driving across a road. One of the five cars is a "winner car" and the other 4 cars area the "sorry try again" cars. 2.) When the user clicks on any one of the 4 "try again" cars, I would like the entire animation to pause for 5 seconds, and then resume where it left off. There should also be a small message that appears saying "sorry try again" and then resume after 5 seconds.3.) When the user clicks on the 1 "winner car", they will be redirected to new URL. Right now, I have the following action script applied to one of the "try again" cars (a movie clip symbol) but it won't resume on click:
I started some days ago with Adobe Flash CS4, and I need to create buttons now. The button I want to create this time should be a frame by frame button, so when the user clicks 1 time on the button the animation needs to go 1 frame further and pause there.

I am building a flash interface and I would like a menu where it is hidden to begin with (just a tab). You click the tab to expand it, and click again to collapse it. I've made a movieclip with animation of the menu opening up and closing, but I can't seem to work out how I'd go about making the movieclip open and close properly.
how to pause a movieclip on rollover and start again on rollout?I need it so when it returns to playing on rollout it continues from where it paused.I would guess it's pretty straightforward but my as3 knowledge is v low...

What I've tried to do is to set the target_MC alpha to 0 and fade out the current mc. Then when the fadeOut has completed to setTimeOut. After this the mcs will swapDepths and the target_MC should fade up to alpha = 0I've attached the flash and xml files. The images were too large.

I have a mc on the stage - a strand of photos moving from left to right, like a filmstrip. I need each photo to come to center and pause for, say 7-10 seconds (no user control). I can get the filmstrip to move left to right (but only once and only controlling the time from start to end)... But can I script it such that the clip will pause where I want it to and for however long I need it to? And then move again from the new point, to the next new point? I'm having no luck. I could motion tween, but want to keep it more compact (and more simple)... I'm working in flash 8 but publishing for 5...
I have a movieclip within the main clip called "playPause" which starts with the Pause button shown. When clicked the movie clip moves to show the play button and pauses the current parent movie with the AS "_parent.stop();" when the play button is then pressed the movie plays via "_parent.play();" and reverts back to showing the pause button.
Simple so far. What is getting me is if I add a movie clip within the parent (say some scrolling object) I cannot get the added clip to pause. For example say the "parent" movie clip the playPause moveclip is within is called "intro" and the moving object is called "introObject" which is embedded in a frame along with "playPause"
What I have setup for the playPause buttons is for pausing _root.introObject.stop(); and playing _root.introObject.play();
I am trying to load a movieclip and have it be controlled by a play and a pause button. The load works good and the code for the play/pause works.

So i am working on a pause menu for my game. I have an inventory box that has slots for weapons, powerups, and other items. I wanted different boxes that are specific to each type of pick-up (weapons, powerups, other). So I drew a box with 3 frames, it is set up similar to tabs in a web browser; click on weapons tab and you see your weapons in your inventory, click on powerups tab and you see the powerups etc...
In each frame I gave the inventory slots different instance names, i.e. in weapons; weaponSlot1, weaponSlot2, and in powerups; powerupSlot1, powerupSlot2.
When the player bumps into an item, i use gotoAndStop('frame number') so that each item is added to the proper inventory slot. the only problem is that if i bump into a key then pause the game, the key is there (under 'Other' tab), but if i click the 'weapon' tab and then go back to 'other', the key is no longer there.
This makes sense because when you click on each tab, i use gotoAndStop('frame number'), and in each frame the inventory slots are blank, so im stumped on how to keep each item in the proper slots?

Also you will notice 3 public functions called 'checkWeaponSlots', 'checkPowerupSlots', and 'checkOtherSlots'. These are called in my main file, when the player bumps into an item, these functions are called to check which slots are empty.
I want to be able to have my ketchup cursor and click on the buns and the buns go to the ketchup frame and vice versa with the mustard, but if the ketchup is already on then it would go to the frame with both mustard and ketchup.I would post my code but I dont really have much to post except the basic eventlistener function. I want it to pause each time in the last frame for 8 seconds and loop only 3x. Is there a better way to write this? I know all my code should be in the first frame but I still suck.
I am using Macromedia Flash Pro 8. I have a flash intro that has words (phrases) which slide in. I would like to add a 7 second pause between each phrase to give people time to read them (no buttons). Could someone tell me the script(s) to use with all functions, etc. included - as I am so new to all this.
