ActionScript 3.0 :: Prevent Children From Shrinking To Infinitesimal Values On MouseEvents?
Feb 5, 2011
I have the following code:
[Code]...
The problem I'm facing is not with loading the content of the Movie Clip, (though I might experience issues with that later when I try to load dynamic swfs) because as for now I just have placeholders on frames.
What I want to know is why my red squares on the left navigation keep getting smaller as I repeat the MouseOver and MouseOut events. It doesn't seem that these squares follow the logic of the code the way I have written it. Some of the code was generated from a previous post with the help of contributors.
Now I have again hit a slight snag with coding the math properly. Initially when I tested the code it worked fine without any "shrinking" going on. However, now with more code added the red navigation squares don't bounce back to their original states, they just keep getting smaller.
I made a very simple scrollBar using the MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN event, which works fine. The problem is I have a few other obejcts that have MouseEvent.Mouse_OVER events, and so if you are dragging the scroll bar, and then move it over one of the objects, the Mouse_OVER event fires. Is there a way to prevent this?
I had a dynamically created list of MCs that each had rollover states as well as click actions. Everything was working fine...
...Since the list was longer than the bounding areas that I wanted it constrained to, I added a mask to the container MC that was holding the dynamically created list (using AS3 - not through right-clicking the Layers). Now the list is still being generated, but the CLICK and MOUSE_OVER events are not working.
I'm using a ScrollPane to contain a listing of sentences that sometimes have links in them. When the user clicks the links it does something.
When I don't put these inside of the ScrollPane the links work. When I put them in there apparently the ScrollPane is blocking the MouseEvents, or maybe it doesnt really register them since I don't know how setting the content works (if it adds the content as a child or draws it as a Bitmap inside or what)
I don't know why but I thought that this was pretty swinteresting, that even if an objects' parent has mouseChildren=false; you can still have it dispatch and receive mouse events.
Code: var a:Sprite = new Sprite; a.graphics.beginFill(0xFF0000); a.graphics.drawRect(0,0,50,50);[code].....
I have a rectangular movieClip named 'container'. In this movieclip, a function generates some number of squares. My problem is that; for example, if I generate 12x12 squares with each width/height of 40; it resizes the container to width/height of 480. If I set the width and the height of the container movieClip to a lower value; then the squares become smaller.I have been struggling for some time on this problem. I tried setting the ScaleMode of container and squares to various values but it did not work. How can I overcome this illogical (for me at least) problem? How can I prevent children from resizing their parent OR how can i prevent parent downsizing the children?
I have a movie clip (mc_moviegroup) which is made of a group of many dynamic text fields. I want to loop through the dynamic text field children of mc_moviegroup and pull out their text values in a string. Does a movie clip have a property which gives the number of it's children movieclips?
I'm making a OSX-finder-type file browser in CS4.The Structure for the folder and files is being generated by a PHP in a XML, heres an example:(sorry the xml is not sorted, but the command i'm using in php doesn't sort it)
I have a small swf that loads 3-5 thumbnails using UILoader. When each thumbnail is clicked a scalex/scaley function is called to grow the images, in this function I also add a new listener to listener for a 2nd click which will shrink the thumbnail. This all works fine. The problem is that if a user clicks on a another thumbnail, I want to shrink any open thumbnails to avoid two being open at one time. This is working, but for some reason after the 'forced shrink" happens the image needs like two clicks to enlarge again. I attached the actionscript at the bottom.
I have a movie clip with a dynamic text box inside of it. This box is 160 pixels wide and has a font size of 14.I am dynamically loading car names into this box. Something like "2006 Ford Taurus" just fits perfectly in there with the font I am using... another name, such as "2006 Ford Econoline" is too long and the text is cut off... I won't have anything much longer than about 25 characters, but I cannot go over the 160 pixels I have and I cannot multiline it... is there any way I can switch the text size, or "squish" the letters together so that everything will fit?
Iam having an issue with a flash site. Keep in mind Im a complete noob in AS. So here's the problem.I have a website made in flash using AS3. Now im using the gallery made in a 3rd party software. Its 3d papervision stuff. It running fine when i publish. But when it gets online the gallery loads but its shrinks. I have tried all that I can but still no useHere's the code that I used.
The bug is where when I shrink a simple circle, it appears to have somehow been altered to the point where the curves are no longer completely circular. Object becomes jagged, then when I bring the the object back to its original shape using the scale tool there the shape is no long a perfect circle.
If L be the original length of linear path (horizontal or vertical) traversed by an object, how can I make Flash change the length according to equation y = L/x where x is an dynamic value generated?
Today I tried deploying for the first time a swf movie into a new wordpress blog I am customizing. It looks great in Firefox, but for some reason, the object seems to shrink in Internet Explorer, and there is a strange white border around it. Since I have never placed a flash object in any of my pages before, I might not know what I did wrong, or if this is a common hacking problem. Check it out here: [URL] It is the picture menu in the top middle.. If you can check it in firefox and IE, you'll notice the dramatic difference. Also, I noticed in IE it doesn't allow rollOver functions until you click on the object.
Let me know if I should post any relevant code. The size of the swf is 500w-200h.. And i double checked the height/width i put in the html page.
I have a button that shrinks an icon on my screen. The problem I am having is that its shrinking to the movicelips upper left corner and need to shrink to its centerpoint. Here is a portion of my code if that helps:
I want to modify an object's x position slowly (e.g. 4 pixels per frame) from actionscript. How do I go about doing this? It would be simple if AS3 had Sleep() and DoEvents() functions - are there equivalents?
In this game attached I need the old Children (rats) to hurt the character when he walks into them, however only the most recently added Child is active in that way... also the rats seem to appear above the character instead of below, is there any way to resolve these issues??
I have a Sprite called pageContent. Inside pageContent are 12 more Sprites with unique names, a couple of Buttons, and some TextFields. Inside each of the 12 Sprites I have either one or two TextFields and one TextInput. My question is, since they are children inside a child of pageContent, how can I access them? Here is how I am trying to do it:
[Code]...
In my mind, this should totally work. But surprise, surprise, it doesn't. I have debugged it and it works fine for the first two lines, but when it tries to get numChildren of a Child of pageContent (line 3), I get this error: PHP Code: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property numChildren through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObject.
I want to have a rollover effect of a movieclip (mo1) inside a movieclip (mo) of another movieclip (popup1).Is it possible to do that? I try calling it using this code in the frame 1 of my flash, am i doing wrongly?
I now have working code that creates a mask of about 2,700 children on a 650 by 450 image using a container to hold all the children's MCs.
Can anyone provide any help as to how I can access these children at once with a MouseEvent so that I could for instance change the alpha value of a child shape when the user rolls over it with their mouse.
I have a flash AS3 doc and some classes that I created. On one of the classes, it creats a sprite that may have a scroll bar, (which i also made - not the UIScrollBar component). This uses the MOUSE_DOWN event for scrolling.
On some other classes, there are some objects that use the MOUSE_OVER event.
The problem I have, is that if you click and hold the mouse button to begin scrolling, then move the cursor outside of this Movie Clip onto another with the MOUSE_OVER event, then that event will still fire. Also, if you MOUSE_UP and you are outside the Movie Clip (with the scrollbar) then the MOUSE_UP event does NOT fire, and the scrolling is "locked" on until you click inside that moive clip.
How can I prevent mouse events on objects from firing when the MOUSE_DOWN event is firing for scrolling? Also, how can I make it so the MOUSE_UP event will fire no matter where on the stage the mouse cursor is.
I can't seem to figure it out because the MOUSE_DOWN, MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_OVER for the different objects have the eventListeners created in different classes.
I have some code that draws a line that follows the mouse and fades away over time, until now it was in the main file of my program but i want to make a class out of it for later use in other programs. I edited the code into a singleton MouseHandler class with one function that registers the mouse up and down events; with trace and 'hasEventListener' I found out that the events are registered but nothing happens when I press my mouse buttons.
Here is the class package { import adobe.utils.ProductManager; import flash.display.DisplayObject; import flash.display.DisplayObjectContainer; import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.Sprite; [Code] .....
In my main class I just use MouseHandler.getInstance().startListening(this);
I have a special canvas class covering my entire stage, and a bunch of Sprite hotspots on the layer below. If I put the hotspots on the same layer as my canvas, the canvas does not register MOUSE_DOWN events if my mouse is inside one of the hotspots, since the hotspots are targeted instead. However, if I keep the hotspots on the lower layer, the canvas handles all the MouseEvents. Is there any way to make MouseEvents target more than one thing, so that both the canvas and hotspots respond to MouseEvents? (The canvas is a bitmap drawing class and the hotspots are supposed to trigger when the cursor touches them or clicks on them.)
I made a spiral in pv3d using a mc for material and added a listener for the mouse events. Now the problem is that when i rollover my mc the rollover tween start and directly start the roll out tween. The clickhandler is rendered useless. So before adding tweenlite to the class everything works fine?
When I have a Label on a Sprite for example, it doesn't respond to MouseEvents, or at least not correctly. For example, if I set buttonMode = true on the Sprite, the label won't have the clicking cursor. Is there a work around for this? Other than stacking another Sprite on top of it which seems very inefficient.
Newbie to XML here and I have what I *hope* is an easy problem, but I just don't know the answer. And as I have to try and show this by Monday, I'm sort of stuck. I am trying to pull in information about houses via an xml file. Each house has 1 address, 1 owner, 1 description, and about 6 photos. I have no problem accessing the address, owner, etc, and I can always access the first photo, but whenever I cycle through the photos, I seem to cycle through the first photo for every house, not every photo for each house.
Basically, I need the children <images> to go up by one, without the the parent going up by 1. I am hoping I am describing this well. My code looks like this:
