ActionScript 3.0 :: Saving An Array Of Sprite With Filestream?

I am looking for a way to save an array of sprite on the user drive and then read this array...I saw method for saving text file. It quite simple... but it seems that saving an array is not very documented.

I've got a sprite object that gets a custom shape loaded into it, that gets used as a mask so as to cut out a custom shape from an image that is loaded in with a loader object - The loader(loada) and shape(lines) objects are both children of the sprite object - I've added code to save out the image from beneath the mask but when the save function is called nothing is saved out, and no errors are thrown.[code]

I'm saving several arrays into a SharedObject and I'm able to read them back fine from the SharedObject when the movie loads. However, one of these arrays contains numbers instead of strings, and the contents of this numeric array show up as 'undefined' when read back from the SharedObject.

im trying to write an array into a XML file/structure for saving. Using the create element function kept saying something like function is not a value, so im using the XML syntax for the nodes;

How do i save an array of objects, like this: [{n:1,bb:4},{n:2,bb:4,r:1},{n:6,bb:7},...] to a database? I was thinking i would have to convert it to string, but if i do that, when i retrieve it from the database, how am i going to use it?
EDIT: forgot to mention that the objects can contain an array of objects as well, but there won't be any more arrays beyond that point.

I am creating an option in my application to create a PDF report based on the results from the application.The results are represented as an ArrayCollection of XMLList objects, which I am using to populate a BarChart.To create a screenshot of each result (as a PNG), I am loading the Results Window (a Title Window) and hiding it (visible = false). I am using AlivePDF to add the capture to a PDF report.
I have been using a Timer to iterate through the results, load each result to the chart, create a delay, and then capture the image and add it to the report.
UPDATE.Currently, I am able to iterate through the results (using the Timer), but the chart does not refresh properly before capturing the screenshot and saving as PNG.Essentially,I am trying to see if there is any other possible solutions for iterating through the results and creating a delay so that I may be able to load a result to the chart, capture the screenshot, and add it to a PDF.Is there any other way to do this in Flex?Initially, I was thinking of iterating through the results array using a for loop,but this was not working due to the fact that the results were not loading in time before capturing the screenshot of the chart.

I'm developing a tile engine with actionScript-3 for IOS machines. Is there a way to package JPG files with IP and then read them with Adobe Air's FileStream Class. I need to read files asynchronously.I understand how it works on desktop.

i have an array of Sprites object reference

I'm trying to get two different apps to communicate through a file. I would like app 1 to append some text to a file, and app 2 to notice, and read the new bytes (not the whole file). There is an event, ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, that is supposed to fire when new data is available on a FileStream, but it only fires when I first open the file. Basically, I would like to leave the FileStream open, listening like a socket on the end of that file for changes.

I am writing a process where users will need to select a file that far exceeds their availble RAM and have that file broken up into small chunks (for upload). I'm able to create a File reference to said file, but when I try to pass it to the fileStream, it appears to try to read the thing into memory before acting on it. Is there a way to get fileStream to just take the reference to the file and then utilize readBytes the way it's documented? it's called when the user selects the File in the browser dialogue.

With continued help from this forum I am getting closer to having a working program. I look forward to being able to help others like myself once I finish learning the AS3 ropes.I have created a 12 x 9 random number grid that populates each cell with a corresponding image based on each cell's numeric value. I have also created a shuffle button that randomizes the numbers in the grid. The problem I am running into is getting my button-click event to clear the current images off the grid in order to assign new ones (i.e. deleting the display stack objects in order to place news ones in the same locations).My question is this: what is the best way to handle an implicit coercion from an array to a sprite? I have pasted my entire code below so that you can see how the functions are supposed to work together. My trouble apparently lies with not being able to use an array value with a sprite (the sprite represents the actual arrangement of the grid on the display stack while the array starts out as a number than gets assigned an image which should be passed to the sprite).

I wanted a sprite to move round on the screen when a play button was pushed. I have a left and a right button which store strings "left" or "right" into the next positions of an empty array called history.
When i push the play button i want i want the sprite to move either left or right according to what commands are in the array. My code just seems to play one single command and then stops when i hit play again it just repeats the same command.
Is there any way to make it play through all commands in the array one after another?

I created a class, extended the sprite class, and now in the constructor I am trying to set the Sprite's width and height properties which are inherited from the DisplayObject. However, after I set this.width and this.height, and print the values, I get 0 for both.
What the heck is going on? When I view the livedocs I see that DisplayObject has width and height listed as public properties. I have been able to instantiate a Sprite directly, and set the width and height after it's been instantiated, so I don't get it.

I'm doing a simple rotation on a sprite but there's a weird behavior where the sprite does not rotate around it's top left. I think I'm rotating along the top left of the test class instead of the sprite child. I would like to rotate the rectangle around it's top left corner (kinda like a clock hand). The code is pretty short so I'll let the code + pictures explain my problem:

Then the numericStepper is drawn as if it is squished to 20% its normal height. If I pre-set mySprite width and height before adding the numericstepper, the trace output is 0,0 after adding it and it is not displayed at all. Is there some way I can make the sprite only adjust to correctly fit the numericStepper OR resize it afterwards without distorting the numericStepper component?
