ActionScript 3.0 :: Targeting Properties Of Mouse Event
Jul 28, 2011
I am targeting the states of the button ie: ROLL_OVER is tweened a little bigger.Then I want it to go back to its original size.BUT it doesn't recognise the start and reverse methods. Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 2', Frame 1, Line 60 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method start through a reference with static type gs:TweenLite.[code]
I made a play/pause button for this project I'm working on (basically a slideshow with a different movieclips on each frame) and I have managed to get it to target either the main timeline or a nested MC. The problem is with the code I have is that the button will only work for one MC at a time. This means I will need a separate play/pause button for each individual slide. Is there some way to make a button that globally starts and stops any MC without effecting the main timeline?
Ned proposed adding an event at the beginning of each movie clip and programming the play/pause button to work that way. My problem (after spending a lot of time with it) is that I can't get my play/pause button (a MC itself) to target the event in a separate MC.
This is my event placed on the first frame of my movie clip:
dispatchEvent(new Event("imHere"));
This is the code I have in the play/pause button that doesn't work:
I have a movieclip in my library called clip1 and inside it are a combobox and a button called combo1 and button1. I attach them like this:
Code: for (var count = 1; count <= 5; count++) { mc = new clip1 (); addChild (mc); }
I need to write an event handler that will trace out the label selected in the combobox when the button in the same movieclip as the combobox is pressed. Kind of hard to explain but can attach an fla if needed.
I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.
I have a flash that has a background symbol that responds to CLICK event. On top of that symbol I have a sprite that contains a Bitmap with transparent pixels. Both of them are added to the stage, so they are not related directly.
I want clicks on the transparent pixels on the sprite to go straight through to the background. I have read about mouseEnabled / mouseChildren but have not been able to make these work. The symbol ignores the mouse events when I use them, but does not pass it along as if its transparent.
Is this possible to do with flash? Or will I have to re-route mouse events?
My stage has about 25 buttons on it. Each button when pressed to tweens the background to some random x/y coordinates and then loads an external swf file.This is all working, but the timing is off. How can I wait for the initial background tween to end before I make the loader call to the .swf file.Currently each button's behavior is called on the MouseEvent.CLICK event which calls a function that knows its unique filename.swf. I know you can add the MOTION_FINISH even to the tween event but then I would have to call a new function and lose track of the button that initially called it.
Then of course both event are captured no matter where i click.Is it possible to capture independent mouse clicks on both of these two movie clips and if so, how can i do that?

I need to perform an event when the mouse moves AND when the mouse button is down, how can I do that? What will happen is that when I click and drag the mouse, the width of an object will change. Here is what I have so far:
Basically I am dynamically calling product buttons, which on rollover invoke a child of a dropdown, which in turn invokes children which are squares filled with colour.What I need is for these squares to be clickable which will then colour something else using the colourMatrixFilter (I'll probably start another post for this problem at a later date).For some reason though adding the Square as a child to it's rightful parent - the dropdown makes the listeners completely useless. Add to the stage and the listeners work. I can't work out why either and have done loads of searching.[code] also if someone could show me in the right direction of pulling the XMLdata for the squares (which will be a name attribute).
This is a very basic question but I can't seem to find an answer. I have a mouse over event and have created the buttons with the mouse overs which is working great. I created the actionscript to go to a specific web page when a user clicks the button. Now, I need to add a label to the mouse over so when someone mouse's over any area of the button, it will show them a particular name for the button.
I am sure that this can be done using actionscript in a mouse event roll over command but I can't figure out what I need to show the text. Here is where I am:
what should i do to get chart's data on the click of respective data Legend. suppose i have array [{id:123, label:sales, year:2010},{id:124, label:refunds, year:2010}]for a column chart which has year in x-axis and sales iny-axis.two legend showing labels sales and refund.What i want is to get the whole data (id:123, label:sales, year:2010) on clicking of the legend 'sales'.What should i do? I tried listening mouse click event and itemClick event.
When game starts, the car runs automatically. Then we click the SPACE button, movement of car stops. And the door of structure near car is available to CLICK.
But in coding I got this error code:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter listener must be non-null. at flash.events::EventDispatcher/addEventListener() at shfg_fla::MainTimeline/key_pressed()
This is some part of my game code...
case Keyboard.SPACE : removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,car_movement); --street_mc.bluehome_mc.door_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,door_ready)
I have a parent sprite that contains several child sprites. I have attached mouse click and mouse down event amongst others to the parent sprite. And in the listeners I check which child has been targeted using the "event.target" property. However It seems that the mouse click event does not trigger for some reason. Is it possible that the mouse down event is eating up the click event. Is this a know issue in as3 and is there a possible workaround?
how can i find (possibly with flash ) the listing of sub properties for events?i would not know if sub properties even exist for an event if i'd not done a tutorial stating so.for example.
var listenerObject:Object = new Object(); listenObject.cuePoint = function(evtObj){ trace(evtObj.info.name); //how do i find out if such sub properties exists for events?
I have a map of items and I need to know when a mouse moves over the item. Should I add a event listener for mouse over and mouse out to each item (there may be a lot) or I should add mouse over and mouse out listeners to whole container and do some checking to detect whether the target has item on it or not? In the second way it would mean that the event would occur on entering each map tile in the container i would be listening. This seems a bit pointless, but I heard somewhere that I should add as little as possible.. So what should I do?
I am looking to provide some UI functionality using the mouse- I have two distinct UI events to be achieved via mouse
a) change value b) delete object
I don't seem to have sufficient mouseclick events for both. I am avoiding using the right click as it has some default options(whose signing off will affect the whole project- not just this). I have mouse click used for change value- how do I use the doubleclick as the single-click events seems to get invoked prior?
I'd like to animate a button when I put the mouse over it. I use mouse_over or roll_over events, ok. But what if I hide the button when I click it and then I show it again later without moving the mouse? The mouse stays over the button, but the button does not animate, as there is no out/over event: I have to move the mouse out and over again to see the animation.
How can I detect the mouse standing on a button without the out/over event?
I have a question about making a function for two different kinds of event. It's not critical but I would like to reduce my lines of code and just be more efficient. Basically I have a button on the stage called "Enter". I also want the user to have the option of hitting the enter button. I don't have a problem making these two separate handlers for these events (i.e. one handler for the KeyboardEvent and one handler for the MouseEvent):
I am writing a program that needs to go to a random frame after clicking a button. However, the program also needs to start on a random frame. When I call the function at the start of the program it gives me an 1120: Access of undefined property event error. The function is originally written as followed:
function randomMatchedTrial(event:MouseEvent) { ... lots of code that probably doesnt matter, but let me know if it does... }
the program starts by calling the function as followed:
randomMatchedTrial(event)
Can event handler functions be called outside of the event listeners they are handling?
I used to actuate the painter function by using a MouseEvent although I'm prefering to do it this way, but I'm having issues with an error "1120: Access of undefined property thisMouse." Error in Bold I've attempted to pass the Mouse Event to the painter function but had no luck. A simple solution (even potentially dangerous and WRONG) would be fine here, as this is part of University Coursework and I haven't been taught Classes etc. Its basically an introduction to scripting but im trying to do things slightly out of my depth
how can you switch the mouse event with keyboard event in the folowing example:
Code: var qno=0;var rnd1; var rnd2; tick.visible=false;cross.visible=false; var right_answers=0;var wrong_answers=0;
[Code]....
i know that u have too define key up and down functions and in the beginnig give the keys we are using the false value, but how to make it that after i pess of a key you cant press in again unless you go to the next question that is the enable_disable in the following code. How would that function looked in case of keyboard event
I was wondering if it was possible to use a for (or for each) loop to trace the properties of an event to the output window. I know I can trace the event in one go, like this:
I have done this same thing in ActionScript 3, but am not familiar with ActionScript 2, which I am forced to use for this project. I am loading products into a SWF via XML and attempting to add a click event to each dynamically-created movieclip. Simply tracing the text from a node in XML will do for now. I'd like to assign a property called "desc" or "description" to each movieclip and have it trace that property's value when clicked. Here is the relevant portion of my code as it stands:
so today my question is how can we have 1 function triggered by both a Timer event and a Mouse event? 'm trying to avoid having to re-write/re-name a function just because I also have a Mouse event that triggers it and not just a Timer event.
Issue:
I have a addThis bubble fade in with icons on a button rollover, the addThis bubble will fade out after the timer is finished, but I also have a close button in that bubble which needs to use the same function that the timer uses. (want to avoid writing 2 exactly alike functions)
I'm hoping this there is an easy workaround for this like event:null or something.[code]./...
