ActionScript 3.0 :: Unable To Sizing When Loading .swf Into An Html For Viewing Purposes?

I finished my first as3 project that wasn't Hello World and I wanted to send it to a friend. So I put together an .HTML document to load the .swf file but when I open it as a page the game is larger than the displayed area even though my project is 640X480 and the HTML is set to display that (the .swf displays correctly when opened with the stand alone viewer). I also went into the bin/index.html file in my project and edited the height and width from "100%" to "640" and "480" respectively. I have tried adjusting and changing every parameter and value that I could find to try and fix this issue.

I've set the publish settings to 100% width and 100% height and have then added the 'noScale' function into the first frame of my timeline. Here is an idea of what I'm trying to create:
I have three movieclips that are touching the left side of the Stage and want them to touch the left side of the browser but centre vertically. I can do this by adding the 'Stage.align = LC' command, but not sure if this is the right way to go about it.
The movieclip that is on top contains a logo and I want it to have a fixed size. I called the instance name 'logo_mc'.
The movieclip below 'logo_mc' is called 'container_mc' and is a strip of photographs that I need to run from the left to the right side of the browser no matter what the browser size. I need this movieclip to scale proportionally up and down as they viewer resizes their browser so the first photo is touching the left side of the browser and the last picture is touching the right side (without distorting).
The final movieclip is called 'buttons_mc' and is right below the 'container_mc' clip. This movieclip needs to remain a fixed size.
Obviously when the 'container_mc' clip resizes I need the other movieclips to move up and down to stay the same distance above and below the 'container_clip'.

I want to put together a flash gallery of photography for my photography business. I am very good at Photoshop design, html, css, javascript but I am a novice with flash. I can use it and use some actionscripting but my knowledge is limited.
I see galleries like this one: [URL]
The images expand and contract perfectly as the browser is resized. I am used to having to size pics for the lowest res screens (I design for 1024 width resos's usually).
What size should I make pictures to work like this... Does flash scale them down / up / either... are there quality issues with letting flash manage the sizing.

I have a preloader(as3) that is working great, I use FlashVars to pass it what movie it is loading, then it loads that movie, and shows it on the stage after loaded. I would like to make this a bit more dynamic. Right now I can use the same preloader for any movie so long as the movie and the preloader is the same size. I would like to pass the size of the movie im loading to the preloader with flashvars just like im passing it the file path for the movie itself. Here is how im passing the movie:

now i just access the variable wherever i want to say load the movie
I tried:

I have my swf files which are getting called in browser when user opens its corresponding page. To ensure my swf is not used by user for his other purposes, i had to strict it to view from HTML page which has a variable. Same variable is passed from swf to this HTML.
if both variables does match then only swf starts preloading. this works fine for first time. But when user open the same page second time, he is only able to view preloader which does not progress further.
When i delete my temp file then user is again able to view the swf only once.
1. what is reason the swf from temp file cannot access variable of its HTML
2. am I doing it wrongly?
3. do i need to clear cache everytime or their is another method to do it?

I've got a flash file (compiling to Air) with a HTMLLoader object in it. The HTMLLoader object loads the web page I link it to correctly. The page is an intranet page within my company's domain.What I would like to do is to take the HTML/text in the HTMLLoader component and convert it to a string so that I can list it out in a textArea. I want to parse the text to grab information like names and phone numbers etc. I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious.

I have writing a simple class which has a method that gets invoke when the object of the class is created. I am able to view the loaded XML content when I trace it with in my class method, but cannot assign the content to a instance variable using the mutator method. So the process goes like this:
Class object is instantiated Class construtor then calls the loadXML method which laods the XML And then assigns the XML to a class instance variable.
So now if I would like to access the loaded XML through class object, I should be able to see the loaded xml content which I am not able to see. I have spent over few hours and cannot get the class object to display the loaded XML content. .

I am working in Flash cs3. I am having problems with mozilla related to contextMenu.
Using contextMenu, i removed all BuiltInItems. Its working fine in IE.
when i am viewing the same html file in mozilla, "Show Redraw Regions" option is still visible when i am right clicking on browser. In IE, its fine.
How to remove this option in Mozilla.

I have a flash remoting storefront I developed that I want to start protecting the source code to. The main FLA is quite extensive with a lot of layers, movie clips, and such. Most of the ActionScript is seperated out into seperate .AS files though, some classes, others just function files.Is there a way to secure my source code, encrypt, obfuscate, or other the .AS files? I need developers to still access the .FLA for design purposes. or is there a simple way to make these .AS files secure?
I was thinking of moving all my actionscript to the fla and all my movies into seperate swfs to be loaded, then securing the one .fla, but users could still duplicate the entire project as many times as they wanted...

I've got a Flex 3 website. I've got a bug in my deep linking. For some reason, if another site links to my site, it shows the main content instead of the specific bit that should be show. So, if the link is for [url]...

Im using TextFields to draw text information in my project, but the problem is I need to be able to click in the area where the field exists without transferring focus. And I also don't want the 'I' shaped cursor to appear when mousing over. Essentially I want to draw a dynamic field a text for display purposes only.

After adding a floating cloud layer on top of the map all the elements below the cloud layer are inaccessible as the cloud layer is the only object getting mouse events.Is there a way to to tell flash to ignore the cloud layer for purposes of interaction?

thread with XML in the title so I came on in...I will start with I am new to flash so a novice is an over estimation. I have a flash template for my photography gallery. It is a nice template and "almost" everything works smoothly. Notice i said almost everything, the gallery images loads from an XML file.hats nice for updating the gallery, There is a small slide out window that holds text in the gallery. I am using it for exif data and I am fine with just placing the exif data in manually when I update the gallery. Now for the PROBLEM.... There is a CDATA tag in the XML file where the text goes for the info. When i alter the text in that section it makes all the text in that images info field dissappear at runtime. Any ideas what will cause this to happen. I have tried everything to remedy this it seems. I hav tried the support where I purchased the template

On my HTML page, I have <div> with an <iframe>, which references another page, that contains a Flash SWF object. If I set any of these:
display:none;
visibility:hidden;
opacity:0;
filter:alpha(opacity=0);
on the <div> that wraps the <iframe>, the SWF object sometimes remains in plain sight, while the <div>and <iframe> go out of view as expected.

This should work in the latest versions of Safari, Chrome and Firefox on a Mac and in the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer on a Windows 7 machine, and it should fail (no errors but the hiding behavior doesn't occur) in Safari on a Windows 7 machine.
It might be pertinent to note that one thing I've noticed about the SWF objects that have passed and failed are that the ones that have failed all revolve around video content whereas the ones that have passed don't. Granted I haven't tested more than a half-dozen objects, but that's quite a coincidence. :)

I am loading an external swf animation and playing an audio which should be synchronized with the loaded swf i have used the loader class for loading swf and sound channel to load sound, when the audio gets fully loaded only we are calling function to load swf, at that time audio remains stopped when the swf too gets fully loaded, we are adding swf int stage and playing the audio. In local system it works fine but when we upload it its not synchronizingly properly for the first time The issue what i see is that swf (only one is there) gets loaded frome inbetween ie the first ceration animations are missing. and audio is playing from the begining why is it so....

I downloaded a flash template that includes a text file that it uses to load the content. So, I opened the text file and started to make changes to certain text and when I view the changes I noticed that certain letters and characters are not being displayed such as the letter w and the question mark ? and other letetrs.here is an example of the text I included in the text file:

When I place the .swf, smil and http files on the FMS server the SMIL stream test sample works fine
But When I move the files to my web server I get Connection error. This is the same issue discussed in [URL].. I added a 'base' variable but it did not work for me. The SMIL file has the correct path to the sample files and FMS server <meta base="rtmp://200.200.200.23/vod/" />
I am able to stream files from my html file on my webserver not the FMS server by pointing to the FMS server at rtmp://200.200.200.23/vod/mp4:sample1_1500kbps.f4v Is this a domain security setting? If so, where do I change it? If not How do I get FMS to stream SMIL files without installing a webserver with FMS?

I have entered an action to load a movie when I press a button.It works fine but the original swf was made at 800 by 600 when I need it to be 400 by 200.Is there a way to have the video loaded smaller using some kind of width and height line to the command above?I don't want to have to go redue the swf I am loading in...In the swf, I am working on this for class, so It is not finished or have any real sense to it, other than what is required by the teacher

I'm adding text to a movieclip as you can see below. The text is alomost not visible because it's so small. If I don't scale the movieclip then the text becomes clipped. I basically want the movieclip to be a tight container (the same size as the textfield) for the Textfield. The below does not work. How can I do this?

I have a flash document that I want to always take up the entire web page. Setting to 100% width & 100% height doesn't do the trick, because if the window dimensions aren't right, white space will show on the sides/top and bottom.
Is there a way to get the window dimensions are say if window height > window width : flash movie = window height (and vice versa)?
