Add An Actionscript / Anything To Make Image Transparent When I Mouseover Button?
Aug 7, 2009
I imported a image file and made it into a button. So in flash8, is there any way to add an actionscript or anything to make the image transparent when I mouseover the button?
I'm trying to achieve something quite specific. I have a few transparent PNGs that will be dynamically generated and will be arbitrary shapes. I want these to form a sort of "hotspot" on mouseover, but I obviously don't want the mouseover to comprise the transparent bit - simplest analogy I can think of a is a single jigsaw puzzle piece. Is there any way to do this in AS3? Would I just load the PNG and flash automatically discards the transparent pixels?
If not the PNG, I can get the "jigsaw piece" in raw RGB pixel values as an XML doc. Could I maybe use the bitmap class to "populate" a bitmap using these raw values which I can then use as a movieclip with button enabled?
edit: from reading around elsewhere, a "map" analogy seems far more apt.
Is there a way to make the transparent area from an png image not to register when I add with a mouse event to that image? What is happening is the rectangle around the symbol is effected by the mouse event.
I'm a Web designer from London and although I have good Photoshop skills, I can't put together my designs for animation
Description:
I would like to know how I can make an image invisible until I hover the mouse over it. Once the image becomes visible how can I make an image behind it (on a different layer) rotate until I move the mouse away.
1. How do I make image invisible until I hover mouse over it?
2. Once image is displayed how do I make an image rotate 90 degrees behind it?
3. Once I move the mouse off, how do I make the button become invisible again, and the rotated image to be restored to it's original rotation.
I have a button, and i have an image (converted to a movieclip)The effect i want to achieve is for when someone hovers over the button (not the MC) the image (MC) expands from the button, then when the mouse is taken off the button, the image retracts and then vanishes.
I want to make background of image transparent. I have a basic mouseover in my flex application which changes an image onmouseover and changes it back onmouseout using the code mouse Over "functionToChangeImageSource()" and another one to mouseout. It works fine when you slowly mouse over and out, however if I quickly move the mouse over it, it occasionally stays on the mouseover image and the mouseout function doesnt appear to kick in. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or does anyone have any ideas why its happening? Also, I've tried the rollOver and rollOut instead but it has the same problem.[code]I'd imagine you're correct about the mouseover event not completing before mouseout is but how to I fix this?
I have a actionscript "Sprite" class which load a transparent png. When i set a "mouseover" event over the Script, it is throw when the mouse goes over the "square" containing the transparent png. I would like a glow effect to be displayed on mouseover, but only when the mouse is on the displayable part of my transparent .png. How can i do to throw the event only when the mouse is not over the transparent part of the png? Do i have to check by myself in the mouseover handler then do what i have to do?
I'm trying to make a button symbol with a transparent hit area - surounded but a dynamically drawn border. Heres what I have. I have a simple AS script that uses goTo and lineTo (plus a randomizer to make sure the buttons are skewed and differnt everytime) to create a "sketchy box" as my button. My script resides in a movie clip withing the "over" state of a button symbol. Now the active hit area is ONLY the line elements. Question : How in the world, using only actionscript an I make a second, transparent area inside of the sketchy lines to make the whole button symble clickable?
It seems simple enough, and I'm half way there ( I can get external movies to load ) however the transparent button is over my head ( read: I'm a complete noob ).[code]...
I've tried hardcoding a url into getURL as well but it doesnt' seem to be recognizing that there's even a button there.. is that because there's a new movie being loaded?
I'm trying to make a Flash swf. appear (fade in) over top another/background image in Dreamweaver. How do you select a transparent background for the stage to accomplish this?
I would like to make a flash movie with a picture, where when the user holds down the mouse button, part of another picture will emerge in that general area (like a magnifying glass looking into another dimension).
Technically, my idea was to make a flash file with two images, and then code the mouse to be able to make the top picture transparent in a circle-like area around the cursor, while the mouse button is down.
But how to do that? I am using Flash CS4, but I don't really care if the solution is in AS2, or AS3, as long as it works
I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after
How would I make an image I load using AS3's loader class into a button with an event handler on it? Below is what I have started. And below that is my error I get when I click the message.
AS:
//call function that starts loading my image callButtons(); function callButtons():void {
[code]....
the error I am getting when I click the spanish.png on the stage is: ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on MyVideoPlayer_CS4_fla::MainTimeline/playSpanish(). Expected 0, got 1.I NEEDED TO ADDED evt:MouseEvent
I created a simple mouseover (like this one http:url... )with one small image that grows to a LARGER image directly on top of the smaller image when mouse is OVER the smaller image. When user mouses OVER the smaller image the larger image appears correctly.Problem is that even when user mouses OVER the "boundries" of where the LARGER image WILL appear, that also causes larger image to appear. What I want is for the larger image to appear ONLY when mouse is OVER the smaller image.
I have imported a bunch of images from photoshop and I want the images to act as links -- similar to an image-map. Is there a way to have a mouseover apply only to an image within a movieclip instead of the entire movieclip? For example -- lets say I have a 45 degree line contained in a movieclip... I only want the line to receive mouseover events and not the whitespace of the bounding movieclip.
i wrote some piece of code of image slider where i can load images from xml. everything goes fine but when i want to make loaded image button mode it goes wrong and seys:
"ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property buttonMode on flash.display.Loader."
I had created a scrolling image. I want to create an invisible button on each image so that when user click onto any scrolling images it will open up a movie clip of that image.
I have built an dynamic XML image scroller to load jpgs via an XML file and then populate a horizontal scroller with a mouseover effect and a mouseclick function that sends you to another url.Right now the mouseover function fades the image alpha, but I want it to also add a text label dynamically grabbed from the XML file. Here is the code for the mouseover function:
I'm working on an image gallery using a mouseOver to scroll the thumbnails. How can I limit the area affected by the mouseOver as at the moment it scrolls wherever the cursor is on the page.
I want to do a image slide show using flash MX. I need a help I Just the image to scroll, But i don't know
1. how to stop the Image scrolling on Mouseover. 2. On clicking on a particular image a new webpage must be displayed. 3. how to made a multiple images to scroll one by one
just been trying to fade one image into another on mouse over. found a .fla template which does it for me and have applied my images to it. works how i want it to - image 1 fades into image 2 on mouse over, then goes back to image 1 when mouse moves off BUT the problem is that when the mouse is over the image and it fades into image 2 it begins to flicker - see for yourself in the .fla file here - [URL] i think this is all of the code from the different layers
I really need to make a transparent button, so it needs to just look like floating text but with button capabilities. But I was confused about a couple things: Initially I was using the "FPushButtonSymbol" but was unable to make it transparent, although I tried like this:
[Code]....
This left some shadow though So, I utlized a post from ezboard.com, which said to just make a square and then do Insert->Convert to Symbol and make it a button symbol. When I converted into a symbol, I also exported it for use with ActionScript. So I have been making instances of my new button (TermButt).... But can I still use generic button functionality like labeling, text fonts/colors, button size:
In an earlier post I mentioned I had solved my problem of finding out how to make an image fade in and out when a button is rolled over.I used this code:
image.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, imageOver); image.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, imageOut); function imageOver(event:MouseEvent):void{[code]....
Where the button is a movie clip containing a layer of stop actions, a layer of labels, and the image which fades in and out using a Tween and Alpha combination. It works great when the mouse rolls over the button, however if I roll over the area where the image fades in and out, the image will also appear! It's almost as though the 'hit' area is both the button and the image but I am unsure how to change this.
How can I make an image appear (a button) after a delay of say 15 seconds?
I need the image to display after 15 seconds, and then stay. I have read to use gettimer or setInterval, but I'm not sure how to do it in my particular case. In very rough terms, I need something like this:
onEnterFrame: setInterval to 15000 and then _root.button.gotoAndPlay(2); (this will display my image) clearInterval
