Flash :: Sprite - Generate A Continuous PNG Spritesheet?
Feb 2, 2011
If I have acomplex timeline animation with a series of shape and motion tweens, is it possible to export all the separate frames as a sequence of sprites in one huge PNG sheet?
There is a great jQuery plugin, called jBlitter which accepts such PNG spritesheets, and turns them into animated buttons or other UI elements.
I have about 100 images, on average, each 130KB (big and scary ). I don't want to bog down my program with huge images, and want the program to be max 5-7MB big. What is the best route? Should I throw them all on one large sprite sheet? Should I just load them externally (people would have to wait) What is the best route to take?
I'm trying to generate an animation containing all the frames from a sprite sheet. Then also append them again but flipped vertically. I have an animation class to create the animation, the stuff I wrote just gets the image from the sprite sheet and sends it to this class. But "frame.scaleX = -frame.scaleX;" isn't changing anything, neither is "frame.scaleX = -1;". It's just leaving the bitmap the same..
I would like to use Bitmaps in my Actionscript games. For me this represents a large change in my workflow as I have always used Vector but Bitmaps are really so much faster to render in certain circumstances. As far as I can see, 90% of all my game assets can be bitmaps.Firstly, are there any good tools for working with Vector to BitmapData? Libraries or OpenSource utilities?I know you can just draw to a BitmapData, and I do that, but what about Animations? What about a MovieClip of a laughing cow? How can I render that MovieClip at runtime to some kind of Bitmap version? But more complex than that What about situations where you do not have the MovieClip in a raw form?Imagine 10000 cogs turning at the same rate which is generated with code. This is hard work for the processor, so drawing it to a Bitmap for the duration of 1 revolution, would replace 10000 cogs with a SpriteSheet. I could destroy the cogs, and keep the SpriteSheet. Can anyone offer me any resources or google keywords I can search for, not sure of the technique but it seems to make sense? Especially with Starling..
I'm doing a simple rotation on a sprite but there's a weird behavior where the sprite does not rotate around it's top left. I think I'm rotating along the top left of the test class instead of the sprite child. I would like to rotate the rectangle around it's top left corner (kinda like a clock hand). The code is pretty short so I'll let the code + pictures explain my problem:
package { import flash.display.Sprite;
[Code]....
I've read a lot of stuff about rotating around a fixed point, I've tried doing it with movieclips instead of sprites, I even copy pasted a tutorial on rotation and nothing works.
I'm a flash newbie and have created a slideshow so that all the photos fade in and fade out. I've done it so they kind of fade into each other. So the timelines on each layer overlap. I want this slideshow running as a continuous loop so I've put a gotoandPlay(1) function at the end of the movie. My problem is the final image (number7) fades out but I don't know how to get it fading into the first photo again. So after the 7th image (the 2 bridesmaids) the movie completely fades out and then starts again. Is there a way I could make the first and last photos fade into each other rather than the last one fading out and starting again. The movie can be viewed here- sorry it takes a little time to get to the last image! [URL].
I'm starting to understand ActionScript and getting better with it. However, I'm building a platform game with an unlimited length. What would be the best way to create the "block" the player is jumping on?
Of course collision detection for these movieclips is needed (nicest would be to do it without a giant loop through an array, etc. on every frame). There's probably something like 5 block on the screen at the same time.
What can be the cause of the YouTube player not working (playing, buffering, firing api events) if I don't continuously move the cursor over the player?
When someone "click and holds" I want to fire off function over and over, say, once every 100ms while the mouse is clicked. Instead of MouseEvent.CLICK I would look for MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN and then start a timer on that event function that calls another function every 100ms. Then, on MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP I would stop the timer. Am I on the right track? Will I be able to get updated X and Y coordinates while the mousedown event is firing?
I'm getting the geolocation data of a viewer and creating a textfield to display this data (city, state). After the data is pulled the text is measured to fit in the textbox and if the length of the city is too long, the text is adjusted in size to fill the textfield. When I trace the end result of the final text size, I keep getting the (same) trace result outputted infinitely.
[Code]...
It worked, but I needed the text box to be made according to what data was pulled from the geolocation xml, so I added it in the geolocation script.
I am having difficulty figuring out how to make a background soundtrack play continuously while my actual timeline will loop before the audio file is finished.
The way I have it set up now, every time the playhead loops back onto frame1, the audio track begins playing on top of the last one, making it utter cacophony. Even after a few seconds it becomes utter madness as 3 versions of the same song are playing simultaneously.
I'm trying to get a .swf (a game, with three total .swf files: main, title, game) onto my site and am having a problem. I understand how to actually do it and make it run (publish as HTML, copy/paste code in Dreamweaver, etc..), but my problem is having multiples .swf files and them not loading. When I embed code for one of the files, the page will play that .swf file and won't load the next .swf file (Main just contains a loader that loads title, Title will load the game .swf when prompted, Game will run). If I just 2x click the .swf files in my folder it will work, as will an .exe, but can I make it so each .swf file will play in HTML?
I have a site that includes a Flash music player integrated into the layout. I want users to be able to navigate around the site without interrupting the music. I've done plenty of research and thinking and the following are the options I came up with (keeping in mind I want to be as SEO friendly as possible).
AJAX: I set up a version that changes the main content div to whatever nav link they click, thereby not interrupting the Flash player. I set it up in the proper search-engine-friendly manner with direct links and JQuery/Ajax functions. If someone goes to site.com/ and clicks the Contact nav link, it loads what's in the main content div on site.com/contact.php into the main content div and changes the URL bar to site.com/#Contact. The same goes for if they go to site.com/contact.php and click About in the nav, it loads the About content and changes the URL bar to site.com/contact.php#About. Obviously this opens up a whole new can of worms with AJAX and hash navigation/history issues, and I would end up with people possibly linking to things like site.com/contact.php#About (which I think looks terrible and can't be too great for SEO). Store the Flash player vars somewhere and reload them with the page: I'm not sure how to go about this, but I thought about keeping my regular navigation without AJAX and have it so when a user clicks a nav link, before it changes pages it stores the Flash player vars (current song and song position) somewhere, then loads them into Flash when the new page loads. Something with an iframe? Good alternative to a Flash player that will work for this type of application?
I know ZERO about flash/actionscript and have been tasked with creating a vertical text/html scroller. This would act like a news ticker but would scroll several paragraphs of text with images vertically continuously.
Here is a sample of the data that i would like to scroll vertically:
<image> some text here some more text <image> more text more text
This pattern would repeat and the script would continuously scroll the information. I will be pulling that data from XML as HTML but i think i have that part under control. Just cant seem to get a sample of scrolling html/text.
I created a class, extended the sprite class, and now in the constructor I am trying to set the Sprite's width and height properties which are inherited from the DisplayObject. However, after I set this.width and this.height, and print the values, I get 0 for both.
What the heck is going on? When I view the livedocs I see that DisplayObject has width and height listed as public properties. I have been able to instantiate a Sprite directly, and set the width and height after it's been instantiated, so I don't get it.
package { import flash.display.*; public class ScrollBar extends Sprite {[code].....
Then the numericStepper is drawn as if it is squished to 20% its normal height. If I pre-set mySprite width and height before adding the numericstepper, the trace output is 0,0 after adding it and it is not displayed at all. Is there some way I can make the sprite only adjust to correctly fit the numericStepper OR resize it afterwards without distorting the numericStepper component?
first i have 2 sprite.. it`s mcproduct sprite and mcproductpane sprite . mcproductpane is a parent of mcproduct sprite.. so inside mcproductpane there a several mcproduct sprite.this is a script of mc prodcut
PHP Code:
[Code]...
The problem is i want to set a button in here(mcproductpane sprite), this button will unload / make dissappear an image that i load using loader class in mcproduct sprite..how can i make this happen?when i want to make a button in mcproductpane sprite which the function of the button it`s to unload/make an image that i load using loader class in mcproduct sprite disappear.
I am trying to create an image gallery similar to Androids "Gallery" where it is a horizontal scrolling list of images. I am doing this with an HBox and Bitmap objects wrapped in a UIComponent. The problem is I am trying to do this for mobile and having many full size images open in memory causes problems. I have been trying to have the images load right as they are scrolling into view and unload once they are out of view, but the loading/unloading while scrolling requires too much cpu and causes a very choppy and poor UI. What I am looking to do is be able to load several low quality versions of the images in memory so I dont have to do as much loading/unloading. I have tried decreasing the height/width but it dosnt seem to have an effect on memory usage.
is there any sample on using array bitmapdata to record video from webcam and generate flash movieclip file? i want to record sound as well without using red5/flash streaming server
i made a flash website and used flash to generate the html. in the html i put in keywords, description in the meta tags. but for some reason google is showing something else?
is it possible the description etc. is coming from somewhere inside flash that i cant see?
XFL's DOMBitmapItem tag has attribute itemID. What is safe way how to generate such an ID if I want to add new media items from external tool? The example of itemIDs looks like:
I need to generate a script that converts videos to F4V's for use with Flash Media Server 4.5...is this possible? I have it converting files to MP4s and then swapping the extension. This works fine, but seems like a dirty work around. I'd prefer to use a generate a true F4V. I've heard mixed things on whether or not ffmpeg truly supports F4Vs
I've been giving a application to work on that uses a Java EE application for the backend, Flash for the front end, and BlazeDS to connect the two. I have never used Flash or BlazeDS, and am trying to get my head around how BlazeDS works.
So far, I understand that when you connect to BlazeDS in FlashBuilder, the remoting-config.xml file is scanned to determine what services exist on the Java end. FlashBuilder asks which of these services you want to import, and what "service package" and "data type package" you want to use.
When you select your Java ExampleService, BlazeDS will create _Super_ExampleService.as and ExampleService.as and put them in your "service package" location. ExampleService.as is empty but extends _Super_ExampleService.as (which basically is a Flash service that you can use to call the methods in your Java service). If you need to add extra methods, you would add them to ExampleService.as. (Hopefully this is all correct, please correct me if I'm wrong)
My problem is I cannot figure out what BlazeDS does for value objects. When you select ExampleService in FlashBuilder (let's assume it's a service for the Example entity), what value objects does BlazeDS create? I would expect Example.as and _SuperExample.as. However, _ExampleEntityMetadata.as also appears.
I need to generate random numbers between 1 and 20 with a heavy emphasis on the one between 1 and 5, a light emphasis on 5-10, and a low emphasis on 10-20. I don't understand all the fancy probability words and all the stuff they say in the articles I've come across.
