Buttons in flex can be pressed with the space key, but a client would like to press enter instead of space. This can be achieved by programming each button, but it would be very time consuming. How to do this in the less amount of time?

I'm trying to create a set of 4 vertically arranged buttons that 'split' apart when those buttons are pressed. For example, if you click the topmost (1st) button, the bottom three buttons will drop down so submenus (for the 1st button) can now be revealed beneath. Again, when you click the 2nd button from the top, the bottom two buttons drop down, revealing submenus, and so on.

Now, is there a way that I can use actionscripting to tween the buttons to not only motion tween a drop down when a button is first pressed, but also to motion tween the button to return up to its original spot when another button is then pressed? Right now, I have two keyframes, side-by-side which each containing a different y-scale value for an object. Can I do some actionscripting to get the object to motion tween upward to its original spot instead of "clicking," or snapping back to is original spot when another button is pressed?

What I have is a series of buttons created via attachmovie based on XML nodes. I want to make sure all buttons are all clicked. What I have below is the onRelease of the button and I need to put my checkDone function in there because of the XML onLoad function. What I am struggling with is how to check if each has been clicked. Typically I would just do like but1==true but that does not seem to work.

my fla file will be attached below. (its not the greatest looking thing but i just need to understand how to do what i want it to). i've got a navigation menu at the bottom of my stage with 2 movieclips. each movieclip has an instance of a button inside, a motion tween of a _alpha graphic flying in, and text to distinguish each button.

my problem #1: on the stage when you hit 'home', it'll fly in, but when you hit 'schedules' next, that will fly in too, right over anything i would have placed on 'home'. i'd like to prevent that by maybe having an outro animation (like a reverse of the intro animation) that can check whether another button was pressed before playing & when its completely off the stage, to play the next content corresponding to the button pressed.

my problem #2: i dont like how everytime when on the stage, i press the 'home' button or 'schedules' button multiple times, that they keep replaying the animation. i'd like it to know that its already been pressed & doesnt need to play again. i have a feeling this problem might be an easier one to figure out but i'm drawing a blank with it.

I�v build a simple flash projector to offer to my local fire department Essentially they used to in internal audio alarms to warn firefighters when there is an accident, fire, aggression, etcIn the version 1.0 they click several buttons, one to play the alarm sound, otherto announce the vehicle or vehicles that goes out, and a last one that says what is occurring.

The problem they report is that the sounds play immediately when you click in each of the buttons, and even the sound overlaps the other, which makes they click on each button and have to wait for the sound to finish and then click next. All this is normal because I associated the sounds to the buttons. What do I need to do the flash in this order in the version 2 of my projector:

1 The Fireman choose the type of alarm you want to play and click the button corresponding (but do not want the sound to play now) let's imagine that he pressed the button "alarm 1"

2 The Fireman choose (s) vehicles which are going out to the occurrence (but do not want the sound to play now) let's imagine that pressed the button "ABSC01"

3 The Fireman choose the type of occurrence (but do not want the sound to play now) we will imagine that pressed the button "fire"

4 finally the fireman holding down the "PLAY" (the green on on the top of the image) and this Makes the sounds selected to start playing in sequence, liker "Alarm 1" then "ABSC01 "and then" Fire "

Logically speaking I believe that each button must declare a variable associated with every unique sound, and then pressing the button takes the variables and plays them in sequence and without overlapping sounds.

I quite often have to create portfolio sites which have a list of projects on the lefthand side. When each project is clicked the relevent content is loaded into the main screen. I'm now moving towards creating such sites where the menu content is XML driven.

What I want to know is, what is the BEST way to do the old radio button style thing where the clicked button changes state (eg. colour) and the when another button is clicked, it returns to it's up state.

I've done this before, when I've created the buttons manually, by creating a 'clicked' variable that can either be true or false for each button, the value of which is changed when a button is clicked. The problem with this (I think) is that it relies upon me knowing how many buttons I have, and if this is driven by XML that is going to get messy.

What I'm after is a very simple, self contained method of setting a button's state when it is clicked (no problem), but then 'unclicks' when any other button in the menu is pressed.

I'm working on a multiple-choice quiz. Each question is in its own frame, Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.  In Q1 frame, when I click a radio button (A, B, C, or D) it displays a Continue button which when clicked takes me to frame Q2.  In frame Q2 I have a Return button that brings me back to frame Q1.  The problem I'm having is that when I click the Return button in frame Q2, it takes me back to frame Q1 and I can click on radio buttons A, B, C, or D, but they do not display the Continue button.  In other words the radio buttons change state but they do not fire any of the actions.  Here's my code.

im creating a character sheet and all i have to do is get the character to do a few things, im using Stan from american dad, so he draws his gun, salutes, and does this guns speech, only problem is. i can get him to salute by using the code

this links fine, the salute is in a movieclip on frame 2 of the timeline, and the button is set to link to this.problem starts after the movieclip finishes playing, how to return to frame 1 on the main timeline, ive tried gotoAndStop("1") amongst other things (gotoAndStop ("Scene 1", 1)ive also tried frameLables too but that didnt work, though im not sure if i was doing that right to start with.Then im having a problem with my other buttons, even when set to on(release){gotoAndPlay("3");} they still go to frame 2 (with salute on)

Basically, I have a flash app with various frames, each frame contains a "help" button, which when clicked takes the user to one seperate frame with various informative instructions on it. The help button is like a universal tool incase the users need help.

Now, no matter what frame the user is on, if they click the help button, sure enough, it takes them to the "help" frame. The big problem I have, is that I cannot fathom a way to make the users RETURN to the exact frame they came from.

For instance, the user is viewing a frame in the app called "Question 2", they get stuck, they click on the "help" button, it takes them to the "help" page. After veiwing the instructions, they need to return to the question 2 frame, possibly by clicking a "back" button of some description. Likewise if they were on a frame called "Question 3" - they need to return to this frame if they click the help button.

In a nutshell, I need to create a button that takes the user back to the previous frame from the "help" frame, like a dynamic link back or something.

Flex :: Keep Focused After 'alt' Was Pressed?

I was making an application with AIR+Flex.

One Feature is like: when 'alt' key is down, the mouse cursor changes to B, when 'alt' key is up, the mouse cursor restores to A.

But the problem is that everytime a release 'alt' key, the mouse cursor will change back to system default (Arrow shape), and seems like the focus is on somewhere outside the stage.

That reminds me that, when 'alt' was pressed in a ordinary window, the menuBar will be focused.

How can I stop this default behavior?

p.s. I have tried the following ways and doesn't work:

1) listen to stage's KEY_DOWN/KEY_UP event, and add 'event.stopImmediatePropagation()' in the event handlers

2) listen to stage's KEY_DOWN/KEY_UP event, and add 'event.preventDefault()' in the event handlers

3) listen to stage's KEY_DOWN/KEY_UP event, and add 'this.setFocus()' in the event handlers. And 'callLater(this.setFocus)' doesn't work too.

I am struggling a bit with keys on the keyboards controlling a movieclip to happen.Ive got a person moving when pressing right and left, and a movieclip with three frames: First frame is a movieclip with the person standing still, looking bored. The second frame is the person moving right, and the third frame is the person moving left.This is the code that Ive inserted into the persons actions on scene1:

this code works alright accept that when the keys are not pressed it doesnt stand still, the legs are still moving, so I tried to include this code aswell:

In Actionscript 3 I see that if I press the "8" key (from the numpad) I got the result of keyCode of the numpad key "8", but when I disable the "Num Lock" and press the numpad key "8", the event I receive the keyCode of the Up Arrow key...

How to difference between the keys of the numpad (with Num Lock disabled) and the original keys, such as the Arrows, End, Insert, Delete and so on?

I've tried using the keyLocation property of the event, the value of that property is 0 for the arrows and 3 for the numpad, but when the Num Lock is disabled the value for the 4, 6, 2 and 8 in the numpad are 0, so I can't difference between the numbers with numpad disabled and the Arrow keys.

Also the numLock property of the Keyboard class didn't work, because I can't know if I press the Up Arrow or the 8 whit Num Lock disabled (because they trigger the same event, or I think that)
