I'm using AS 3.0, and I'm trying to change the frames inside a specific object's timeline.The change will be triggered by keyboard events, but I don't know whether to add the eventlistener to the stage or to this. Also, it doesn't seem to be responding to anytime I use a gotoAndStart() or gotoAndStop() it just ignores it completely. Is it calling the stage's timeline when I call this? It also doesn't help when i add this.gotoAndStart() or this.gotoAndStop(), so how do you change the frames outside of the main timeline?
I wanted the animation to not roll back once i click on a certain button and i wanted the animation to go back once i click on a different button. My question is, how do i proceed from here, i searched online for clues and from what i understood i could set variables within the class and change them on the timeline and use event listeners to catch the changes. I tried doing that but i always end up with some redundant way that gets me nowhere...
how do i export specific frames not all frame. ex: if flash has 1 to 200 frames. here i want to export 51 to 150 frames as a movie. if there is any command or plugin to export movie like this.
When Object A (player controlled) overlaps Object B and left mouse is clicked and held Object A locks with Object B and Object B becomes player controlled while the LMB is pressed so that it can be moved around screen etc and when button is released Object A becomes player controlled and Object B becomes static.
I have a flash document that publishes to an swf I embedd into an html page. The flass is made up of three movie clips that I have managed to program to run in succession and then loop. Each movie clip (frame 1, frame 2 and frame 3) drill down into their own animation. I set the movie up this way so that each of the animations could be linked to a different web page. Now I want to add navigation within the flash itself by creating three dots that when clicked will send the movie to frame 1, 2 or 3. I can't seem to find an example of this and am just not well versed enough in script to figure this out.
I need to create a tall background, when the user clicks on a button the background will scroll up and down to the area that the user wants to go to. ( I attach an image of how that might look like)
In the main timeline I have several movie clips, buttons and labels that navigate to the appropriate mc's. Inside the movie clip I have a button that will send you back to the main timeline and the appropriate label. I thought that would be relatively easy but it's not working.[code]...
I have a movieclip that is comprised of multiple images.These images are used as the backdrops of various different pages of my portfolio.Every image is in a specific order, so if the user decides to go from page 1 to page 4, it will pan through the first three pages quickly before stopping on the 4th page. Simple Enough.The problem is I want them to be able to also do this while manipulating the timeline in reverse. So say if they're on page 4 and want to go back to page 2, it will 'rewind' the timeline and stop on page 2.know there are plenty of tutorials out on how to play a timeline in reverse, however none of which discuss stopping automatically when reaching a certain point that is before the beginning
I can send emails/forms from a button, no problem, by using this. emailSend.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, sendForm); But I want it to send automatically when the time-line lands on a specific frame. What can I do to change this line?
The situation is as follows:I'm using Action Script 2.0 --- I'm obligated to in the course I'm attending.I have a main timeline that has 3 frames. On the 2nd frame I have a movieclip named mc_nbr. On the 3rd frame I have a button "voltar" that when pressed I want it to "Go and Stop/Play" at frame 3 of the movieclip (that is embedded on frame 2 of the main timeline).
I used the folowing code for the button btn_voltar: on (press) {
how to make a button go to a specific frame on the main timeline my button called a play_btn and i want it to go to a specific frame on the main timeline ???
I want a button which is on an externally loaded swf to tell a movieclip on my main swf to gotoand play a specific frame. Is this possible and how would I do it?
I am very much new to AS3 and Flash and had a problem trying to get my Flash timeline to pause at a specific point if the mouse was over any part of the stage. If the mouse was not or no longer over the stage I wanted the timeline to continue playing where it had left off.
I managed to solve the problem after a few hours and would like to share my first piece of AS3 - it might help someone else who has a similar problem, or you might be able to improve it.
One of may main objectives was to make sure the code cleaned up after itself and left no listeners or timers running.
I have this code below on this button that is inside of a movieclip. I just want this button to do is move the main timeline to a specific frame thats all.
[Code]...
I didnt put i a object name before the addeventlistener because I'm not sure what to put because if I put "this" the other buttons will bt controlled by this code and if i put "parent" only that button will work.
I want to know the difference between [object main timeline], [object Stage] and root in as3? I have read from the topic How stage, root, and MainTimeline Fit Together. But I didn't get clearly.
I have a movie clip which, when closed, should send you to a specific frame on the main timeline... I have used frame labels on the main timeline... Here is a bit of my code so far:
I've used this code to detect a hit between a specific object and a certain MC Code: if(this.hitTest(_root.ufo)){ Now I want to know if its possible to detect collisions with everything except (ignore) certain MCs because I only have 3 MCS I don't want it to care about, but there will be about 200 or more I want it to care for.
I am having an issue with the setVolume() function. My problem is that when I set volume of a specified sound object the entire flash file is affected, meaning that all sounds are affected (The ones created by AS). Not just the single sound I specified.
Here's the line, which "mutes" the sound: Code: music_main.setVolume(0); The "music_main" object is created through these lines: Code: music_main = new Sound(); music_main.attachSound("MAIN_THEME"); Now my problem is what I stated above. All Sound Objects created are affected by the setVolume() function. I only want to change the "music_main" object.
ive used this code to detect a hit between a specific object and a certain MC

I'm making a game that's similar to Pong. Basically instead of a long, skinny paddle, the paddle is wider -- but this creates some problems when hit testing.
I don't want the ball to be able to hit the side of the paddle, only the front of it (the side facing the other paddle, technically the side part). I'm basically wondering how I can run a hit test in AS3 but for only one side of the object. The object is a basic movieclip.
How to make sure the sheep will only appear on the green field on the left hand side? I use the following but they appear all over the place. onClipEvent(load) { _x=Math.floor(Math.random()*379+150) //where width is the width of your stage _y=Math.floor(Math.random()*376+150) //where height is the height of your stage }
How can I make an object following my cursor ( but not directly) through a specific path (something like a city plan) and every time my cursor change location the object would change path so it will stop where my cursor is?
In a movie a have a sound object, that i make it through (for example)[code]I have many other sounds in the movie but this object is for a loop... The problem is that when I set the volume for that object, through:[code]
How can i access an object (movieclip) at a specific frame which is located inside another movieclip. It's something like this : first movieclip - and inside it, on frame 10 i have the second movieclip. I want to access that second movieclip ont that 10th frame.
Right, so here's the scenario: I have 4 objects, A, B, C and D. What I want is that C obscures A, but not B. Similarly, I want D to obscure B, but not A. A and B can overlap each other in any order, it doesn't matter.In other words, what I want is an object (C) to be able to cover one object (A) but not another (B), even if it comes into contact with it.Same with D, which can cover B but not A, even if it comes into contact with it. The problem is that I can't think of a layer configuration that allows this: D will always be higher than both A and B, and thus will obscure both.I'm not expecting anyone to come up with some unfathomably clever configuration, but I'm wondering if there's some kind of ActionScript that can do this. In particular, I would like A and B to be dynamic TextFields, and C and D to be MovieClips of any shape (i.e. not a rectangle).
