I try to start a FLV (created with soundbooth cs5) at a certain point of time using ns.play('video', 33000) or even just ns.seek(33000);
The FLV is about 9 hours long.
How do I make this work ? And why is it not working?
I have a series of mp4 videos (H.236 @ 22 fps) streaming from an akamai FMS serve via RTMP protocol in flash player 9+ with AS 3.My goal is to create client side playlists that smoothly switch from one stream to another. I am creating these playlists using a series of netStream. play (filename,start,len) methods. If I don't use an offset for the start parameter, then the stream switches smoothly from one video to the next with not noticeable jump or jerkiness. However if I introduce a start offset, say a few seconds in, I start to see a quick little hiccup or pause between the seams as it switches from one playlist stream to the next.
View 1 RepliesI've freshly installed the FSM demo on a redhat linux box, and have everything working. From that start screen running on Local Host, I click the "Play video (HTTP)" and that video of a train shows up. Cool. But when I click the link above it ("Play Video (RTMP)") I get an error message: "Connection Error. press Play to try again." and no matter how many times I hit play, I get that same message. The Dynamic stream doesn't work either, and the Interactive sucessfully displays webcam feeds, but doesn't show the "Play Live Stream" button thing. Is there anything special you have to do to get the RTMP stuff working? Some special command or server you have to run?
Would firewalls intefere with things (I'm pretty sure there isn't one on the machine, but I'm flailing wildly here) or would permissions mess things up? I'm completely lost ^_^;; I guess I should also add that there doesn't seem to be any log files. I'm looking under the server install directory, and there isn't even a "log" folder. There isn't one under Apache, either. It confuses me. So far all I can find on the internet is instructions to look at the log files...but if they aren't there... Am I just looking in the wrong places, or are they just not being generated yet? I did a tcpdump with wireshark, and the web app IS pinging port 1935 (for RTMP), but the packets are failling the checksum and are refusing to be reassembled because of that. Is this making sense to ANYBODY?
First,i am in project for creating some website with streaming video.The connection to the host is bad and i need to know if Flash media server can reconnect if connection is lost during playback and second,is there some kind of plugin for subtitles,this is very important,If there is a positive answers on those two questions,the third would be "where can i buy it and how"?

I don't know how to set the maximum time on the seek bar dynamically (Since its DVR maximum time will be increase if publishing video is continues) .I think through the metadata we can get the total time of video Tell me how to call the metadata externally .
View 5 RepliesI'm looking to use the Smart Seek options with netStream in an upcoming project. Currently, we are using Flash CS4 and it seems this API is not available. Am I correct on this? Is this only available in CS5 as far as Flash Professional goes? What about Flex? Which version of Flex is required to access the smart seek API? Or am I misunderstanding this, and the Smart Seek API is server side only AS?
View 2 RepliesI have used the Dvrcast application with FLVPlayback 2.5.0.26 for playing the dvr video.I have successfully achieved the dvr functionality with that application but i don't know how to update the seekbar max time (ex: while I play the video it the video length say for example 3min after i play the video it is keep on increasing the length since its dvr publishing will continue in other hand).It shows the max time of video when I enter to play the video not the current length of the video. I need the help to achieve this function.

I am using OSMF v1.0 along with FMS 3.5.3 and flash player 10.1. Whenever i do a seek, lets say to a time 't'. Netstream.time gives me an incorrect result which is more than 1.5*t (varies). So if i seek to 100, i get netstream.time as approx. 160. I also noticed, 'NetStream.info.VideoBufferLength' goes very high (from around 3-4 to 50-60) just before the Netstream.time parameter gets updated and drops backs after update.
View 1 RepliesI'm using the server Stream.play() method to playback a recorded stream, it plays back fine until it hits the buffer limit (Say I set the buffer to 5 seconds, it will playback fine for 5 seconds). But then it freezes and playback is very stuttery (1 frame every 2/3 seconds). Is this a know issue? I'm using windows 2008 server. I've tried a few things to resolve this but no luck. The server is running the dev license and has no load.
View 13 RepliesI recently upgraded from FMS 2 - FMIS 3.5.Over our internal network videos stream like a dream!However, accessing them from outside our own network means that they take about 20 seconds to load, or sometimes just get a message saying the server isn't found.This wasn't a problem with the FMS2 and there have been no changes to firewall settings or anything like that since the old server was up and running without problems.I have the new server set to use exaclty the same ports, but wonder if there are some other settings which could be causing this?Networking isn't really my area of expertise, and I have no idea where to start looking to improve things.

The thing is I want several different people to be able to do the live broadcast, and I would like the server locked down at least a little and not allow anyone that wants to, to start a broadcast. With that said, I have FMS 3.5 installed, and I installed the Authentificaiton Add-In (3.0). I added a user to the authentification add-in, but it's still doesn't require a username / password, doesn't even prompt me.

View 2 RepliesI have an intermittant problem with FLV playback. I am using FMS 3.0.1r123 and FLVPlayback component to play RTMP streams that have been recorded using a webcam via RTMP. Maybe 1 in 10 recordings will not play back the last couple of seconds of the movie. A day or two later they are fine and play completely! I have made some tests;
1. Using Video object instead makes no difference (it seems the Event.COMPLETE message arrives early)
2. Using HTTP playback fixes the problem (but I want to try and keep the RTMP playback if possible though but I guess this is one way out)
3. The duration before the movies plays back properly seems to vary but is always at least 24 hours later (is that weird or what?)
4. Seeking past the 'end' will play the last couple of seconds.
5. The metadata duration reported at the start is correct (but how can you force FLVPlayback to use this length?)
I found some stuff in an old FMS book (great book on FMS but very old) on how to subscribing to the Log streams. The does a netConnect & NetStream and used a nc,onLog to get play back but onLog does not seem to be supported anymore. how I can playback logs from FMS 3.x into CS3 client?

1) Record off a web cam and store the video using FMS
2) Play the video stream using FMS.
I am ramping up a Flash Media Interactive Server ver 3.5. My question is - I don't have Flash CS4, -does the flvPlayback component in it allow netstream connection control to facilitate FMIS connections? One that allows fullscreen for VOD streaming would be what I need.
View 2 Repliesmy name is Göran and I know this is probably the wrong place to post my question but as far as I can see there´s no forum for FMLE here. I´m using the betaversion for mac. I was broadcasting to justin tv last night and decided to try out the record feature i FMLE. It looked like it worked ok and a 125 mb f4v landed on my harddrive. There´s no way I can play it back though or for that matter convert it mov etc etc. What am I doing wrong do I need another special app for playback or converting. Seem a bit strange if this feature is onboard the FMLE but you can´t use it.

The file is created in the live folder, and i can stream it back to the client no problem, however when I try to play the file in Adobe Media Player (or anything else) it won't play. I've used the f4v post processor which claims to run successfully, but with no joy.
View 5 RepliesI have downloaded and installed the Flash Media Server (FMS) trial version. Just purchased the software today and waiting for the activation serial number. I created a video gallery - [URL]. My goal is for these videos to stream just like vimeo. I am only using HD 1280 x 720 video. All videos are between 25 to 125 MB in size, originally .mov files converted to .flv using FFMPEG. Videos are between 30 seconds to 58 seconds in length.
I am using ColdFusion to upload and organize my videos and I have configured FMS to work with CF. The Issue is that these videos buffer the same way they did when I didn't have FMS installed. Press play, the video buffers, the video plays, then stops to buffer again. Stop and Buffer, Stop and Buffer. I can understand if there is buffering at the start of the video but not throughout. When I start the video over from the start, it has to buffer all over again!
I used video component for live stream .It is working well.but I need play and pause button on mouse over video in live streaming.I do not know how i do in mouse over in live streaming.flvplayback component have mouseover option in normal video streaming.Any possible way to use flvplayback component in livestreaming video?Any idea for mouse over pause and play button or any playback component(like flvplayback ).
View 7 RepliesI am seeing fms utility time during the playback. What could be casuing it to timeout. when size around 179KB it starts to throw this error. Don't know exact size when it throws. For small sizes it is successful.

Currently we have updated to FMS4.5 and doing some evaluation on HDS. We published our RTMP streams to the livepkgr application and successfully setup and playback HDS. However, we found that a we can't access some onMetaData Properties during playback. Our player use onMetaData - "videodatarate" and "audiodatarate" properties. We are trying to migrate it to playback HDS, however, we don't seems to be able to get back the two fields?

However, whenever I try to play the file, I keep getting a "playback failed" in Adobe Media Player. What could I be missing? Is there anything else I need to do in Flash Media Live Encoder?
View 3 RepliesIs the Flash Video (or Flex VideoDisplay) component capable of seeking to an exact moment in a video?It seems to always 'snap' to keyframes (which is understandable). I'm just wondering if there are any mechanisms in the video classes for seeking to exact frames, ie it should do the translation from keyframe to specific frame in the background rather than having to actually play the video forward to the desired frame.This is not a streaming file and has nothing to do with buffering. The player is just downloading a movie file from the web and playing it from memory.

I had one more machine B in a network, from which I was testing the swf's on Machine A.Everything was running fine, until suddenly I could not access the swfs from Machine B.Moreover, when i checked the Admin console in machine A, there was no cent (referring Machine B) was connected to the FM Development Server.hat could have happened sosuddenly. In the swf that i tried connecting from Machine B, I debugged and found out that the swf was not able to connect to the FMS. (NetConnection.Connect.Failure)
View 3 RepliesI am using remote Win Server 2003 R2 via rdesktop. As an "administrator", I installed FMS 3.5 - Developer version using default options. Media Server starts, runs, and appears to work. Admin Server is not running. When I attempt to start it (from Win admin services tools), I get error 1067 (Error registering class: name mismatch (%1$S, %2$S)). Everything done remotely as an administrator.

Jens Loeffler says the following...This code defines the function sendDataEvent on the server side, which utilizes the NetStream.send() function to inject the event, including the associated data synchronized with the current timecode of the video.
Note: If you record the video on the server side (a functionality of FMIS), the injected events are also being triggered by the recorded file.
Now, I've got both my own project and his sample project sending/receiving injected plain text data events via the whole "call ('sendDataEvent',data) -> send('onDataEvent',data) -> onDataEvent(data)" relationship just as expected and explained in his article.The Note that Jens makes, however, I cannot seem to validate and, unfortunately, that's linchpin piece in my project. Whenever I capture a stream with injected data events and play it back (via the same 'player' mechanism used with the live stream) the captured video plays back but I do not see the injected events being triggered by the recorded file.
