I am creating a lightning effect with the deco tool. I have no problem using it in the timeline and applying a mask (with a brush) to give the effect of the lightning travelling through the air. However when I create a new layer for another bolt of lightning and a new mask to give the appearance of it travelling I cannot make the 2nd mask active as it is greyed out?

View 3 RepliesWhen using a simple line shape graphic (that was created in Flash) to supply Deco Tool > Symmetry Brush > Rotate Around, the line looses it's thickness along the rotation. See attached image. I'm following chapter 2 in Flash CS4 Classroom In A Book, and the visuals from the book do not match what is happening on my computer.

View 3 RepliesI have Flash CS4. I like the way the Vine Pattern can be animated with the Art Deco Tool, but I don't like the vines.The Grid Pattern, however, is good. But... there's no Animate check box as there is with the Vine Pattern.
View 4 RepliesI have masked the video clip. The masked clip is working fine. But the Actionscript 3, which contains 2 more SWF external movie clips not loading those files. Once I remove the mask they start working.
View 9 RepliesWhen I try to use the deco brush in CS5 some of the properties are not there to tweak. For instance when I try to flower brush it creates flowers but the advanced options are not changable. The categories such as Flower color, Flower size, Leaf color Leaf size and Fruit color are there but there are no options to change any of these. The same issue happens with the lightning brush, the Tree brush, the smoke brush, the decorated brush, the fire brush and just about any brush except for the grid brush which has options to use a symbol. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a way to get the settings to be invoked? Is it just broken?
View 1 RepliesI noticed that for some reason whenever I use the 3d rotation tool on an object inside of a clipping mask that the object releases the clipping mask. Are 3d objects not supported within clipping masks? Is there a way around that?

View 2 RepliesThis is a very very basic question.I am able to colour and otherwise manipulate elementary vector objects, such as rectangles. Yes, I know how to use the colour panel and the fil land ink pot tool. However, sometimes I can colour a vector shape drawn with the pen tool and sometimes I cannot. It seems completely random.In detail: select keyframe on an empty layer.I make a triangle with the pen tool, and a small circle shows completion. I get a triangle.This is coloured not for the stroke but for the layer. It seems to exist in two densities - a layer coloured line for drawing, a thicker, same-coloured one after selection.However, neither the ink bottle nor the fill tool do anything. I can set the colour in advance, or after the event, through the colour panel or otherwise, nothing. A gradient fill does not even show the guide lines for the fill tool.
View 4 RepliesMac OS 10.4.11; Flash CS3.I cannot change the tool any more. It's stuck on the eraser. It doesn't erase anything, but I can't change it to another tool.I uninstalled Flash, preferences and all, and re-installed it, but the problem persists. Interesting is, my customized workspace is still there, even though I had all preferences and anything else that has the name "Flash" deleted.At the same time the computer opens both CD trays when booting up. Never did that before. So I re-installed the OS, but that didn't help either.
View 1 RepliesSo we're sitting here at the studio trying to figure out how to use the pen tool without a stroke. We do most of the work in Illustrator, then paste it in Flash. Unfortunately, some objects sometimes disappear while breaking the object down, which means that we have to do some actual touchup work in Flash.

View 1 Repliesfor my class i have to draw this fish. in one of the steps it says to draw fins with the pencil. then it says to use the paint bucket tool to color it in. however i cannot color it in. i used all the options too, close small, medium, & large gaps and i still can't color it in. does it have to connect to the start point? i simply attached it to the fish's body. i started over on the 1st part of this 3 time already, and my patience is wearing thin.

View 1 RepliesI have an issue with my Cintiq not drawing smoothly in Flash. I need to sketch incredibly fast and loose. Flash used to work just fine but now it suddenly began drawing really crummy. I posted some examples of flash as well as Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and ToonBoom Animate Pro which is another vector graphics tool. I thought the vector graphics may be the issue but that app seems to handle the drawing excellently (now if only it did the other things Flash can do). Here's some examples of how they're looking. It may be hard to tell in these already loose sketches but the performance drop is really a big difference in responsiveness between Flash vs the other apps here:[code]Does anyone know why my cintiq is causing flash to draw so poorly? View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble with the Flash CS5 Bone Tool, Everytime I create 2 sets of objects whether its legs or arms, when I duplicate them. break them apart and make a second set of arms and legs, the two characters I assign them to, swap around when I saved them. So one has arms instead of legs and legs instead of arms, but the other character is completely unaffected. I move the bones within the symbols and they return to normal but then it affects the other character and vice versa.

View 1 RepliesI realise that I need to keep all my code on the main timeline, so now I need some serious help with targeting movieclips and buttons, when I use the target path tool (the little gun sight in the action script panel) it lets me navigate to the thing I want, but when I use it's suggestion it very often doesn't work, and I am left using trial and error to work it out. Ican get stuff to work, but I really have no idea why or how I am doing it, Sorry to be such a N00B, but I really think if I can work this out I am going to get

Is there a way to manually center the artboard?
This is the most frustrating program ever. No where can I find an answer. I've tried everything I've read on how to change text but I can never get the selection tool to select the text. Some say use the T tool but all that does is create a new white box over top of it to type new text in
The layer isn't locked and the closest I can get is a blue box around the button. Well it's not a button and in the library the icon is a movie clip. Its also in my "bitmaps" folder as and image? (tree icon) Does that matter? I'm begining to think this is a whole image?
I draw a shape with the pen tool in Flash CS4. I made sure the shape was closed. But, I cannot fill the shape no matter what. Paint bucket tool does not work. Whatever I do, I get the red diagonal line on the fill color. I can fill a shape with the rectangle or oval tools but not the pen tool.
View 7 RepliesI am expirimenting with Flash Web Sites, and I would like suggestions as to a starting point for my project, and I am assuming a Flash website is where I would start.Basically, If I were to open up a web page, I would like to see multiple animated objects. For example, if I were to simulate an Emergency Room, I would have an EKG displaying a heart rate, then perhaps see a breathing maching apparatus moving up and down, a Drip bag (sorry, don't know the real term), dripping into a patient's tube. And of course, if I were to roll over an object it would animate, and if clicked on more animation or on to another page.
I tried creating the animated objects in Fireworks, and I thought I could combine various Firworks files into one, but it didn't work (too many frames), either becasue I lack the knowlege of how to do this or simply it cannot be done that way in Fireworks. I had a background with one animated flashing object (that was easy), but combining multiple independent objects, I could not figure it out.
Someone suggested that I would have to use Action Scripts, which made me realize, I don't know the best way to accomplish my example above, and although I know I may be over my head, I would just like to get direction as to where I should begin.
Should it all be in Flash in the first place? To continue on with the example above, after a user clicks on the rollover image, a girney comes rolling in and we are giving choices on a monitor with what our next actions should be, which would take us into another page. (this is just to give you perpective of what I am trying to accomplish).
Should I create independent animated objects (files) in Fireworks, then somehow import them into their specified location in Flash.
I have drawn a square and would like to fill it with gradient color. But I wonder where can I find it. One more question, how can I change the transparency of an image/bitmap picture?
View 3 RepliesI have cs4 web premium which doesn't include aftereffects. I need to however make a green/blue backgrounded video transparent (alpha channel, if I got it right) to be used by flash/as3. I'm not sure if I can use either firework or illustrator do the job? another question is, for a short movie clip, which tool can be used to edit the movie frame to turn the non-green/blue clored backgroud into green (then adding alpha channel...)
