my company (FB games) has fired everyone who knew what they were doing leaving me, with no knowledge of flash, staring at my to-do list near tears, unable to complete basic tasks.I need to take an existing walk cycle animation and replace the character with another design. After breaking the new character body into symbols, I've tried to sub them in using swap symbol. The body parts do not line up with the previous symbols, and they also seem to go flying all over the place when I run the cycle. I can't figure out how to just update the symbols without disrupting the placement.
I have a VERY big animation, with a huge amount of keyframes, and I like to swap a symbol in this animation with another one. If I just use the swap button on the first frame, Flash only swaps the symbol for the first tween, whereas I have hundreds of tweens in my file... So how do I do this for every keyframe in every tween ?
I am trying to rotate a symbol on the x axis mulitple times for an animation I am doing. The problem is everytime I try to do a complete rotation, the symbol rotates fine until I hit 180 degrees, but once I go past that mark, the symbol just starts rotating backwards. Is there a certain way I have to do this in order to get a complete rotation in one direction?
When I play my animation in the Flash working file, the animation stops at the end of the timeline, as it should. But when I test the movie, or export it to any movie format, it will play an instance of a movie clip symbol that I used within the animation. There are no extra frames in the timeline beyond what should be considered the last frame. Is there a setting or something I have overlooked that might cause that instance of the symbol to play at the end of the animation, without appearing in the main timeline?
I added a button symbol to a movie clip in a Flash 8 project, and the button works. OnPress it redirects to a web site.However, the animation in the movie clip becomes diabled. I get the same effect regardless of where the button is placed, e.g. scene1 timeline, movie clip, etc.
Inherited some flash widgets that are developed in .fla format and exported to .swf apps, using Flash Pro CS5. I have only limited understanding of AS3 or 4, flex and flash in general, but I'm quickly becoming dangerous.
My bottom line problem is I need to find a command line tool to 'build' the .fla source into .swf entities. q1: are there any cmd line tools with the Flash Pro CS5 for such purpose? I cant seem to find any, but I may not be looking at the right places.
I know there's such a thing as the Flex SDK, but what's under Flash CS5 at "Adobe Flash CS5CommonConfigurationActionScript 3.0flex_sdk", doesn't seem to have anything useful in it, only a general flex library.
Another requirement I need to solve is to create customer specific, purpose built versions of the widget. From the Flash IDE, I can figure out how to replace the background images, etc., but.q2: how can I do this at export/build time and later on, via the command line tool?
Basically, a build/compile directive in source would allow the swf builder to replace a given image asset with the version I intend to build with.

I made an animation on the main stage and I need to convert it to a movieclip but Im having an issue. The animation consists of 3 layers one of which is a classic motion guide. Another layer is a ball that follows the guide.

But when I play the movieclip my ball no longer follows the guide. Is it possible to convert an animation with a guide layer to a symbol?
The first question: How do you make a symbol a looping animation? Say I want to make a short loop which I can repurpose later.. something such as a falling raindrop or a moving mouth. A webseries I enjoyed when I was younger, Bonus Stage, used the same moving mouth animation most of the series.. I'd like to learn how to make that.

I've been playing with a tutorial to create a rain effect in Flash which I've managed to do.. however, I'm wanting to layer it into an animation.The plan is to have a white 'silhouette' of a window frame, behind that a jpg of a scene. I want the 'rain' effect to be positioned behind the window but in front of the jpeg image.
Even though I have each element on seperate layers, in the correct order, it isn't working and the rain is currently visible on top of everything.
I've got a multi-element character animated in its own timeline, within its own symbol --- but it's not showing up in the main timeline, or on the stage when I exit the symbol and go back to the Main movie view. How do I get the symbol's animation to integrate into the main scene?
I am simply trying to move symbols around on my Stage, and each time I move one, the "path" is recorded and the object flows on that path when I scrub or play back.
All I would simply like to do is reposition images and symbols with out the movement and animation.
I am making a very simple stick figure animation which will be intended for tv, specifically HDTV 1080p.I have no idea how i did it but I did the animation and before I knew it it was not on scene 1, but on the graphic symbol timeline. I think it is because I made my character a symbol, and i guess everything followed. But when I put them on the stage from the library, only part of the animation shows up, the part with the character i made into a symbol...not only that, but if I copy and paste all the frames from the symbol timeline onto the main timeline, it is HUGE! it doesn't match the size or placement it was on in the other timeline..Also, are there any specific requirements for editing with intent for hdtv? I read you can't use movie clips but as for size, etc? What do you have to set at the beginning and what will change when it is exported or converted for tv?
I have a symbol which I want to contain several loops, but when I play it, it simply stands still. Example:[code]As I understand it, if I start the movie clip at frame 1, it should loop frames 1 and 2, and if I start it at frame 3, it should loop frames 3 and 4. Why won't it work ?
See, I have a Symbol- in's an animation of a "Cycler" (bicycle driver) seen from above and I want to use a function to duplicate it with actionscript as needed. So far so good, has been done before.
But in this Symbol I have "sub-Symbols" on the timeline (within the Cycler's animation)... how would I do it to use a setRGB on one of them for each duplicated driver individually? The way I tried it now (see attached files) makes the animation stop for the sub-Symbols I use setRGB on (in my example the shirt of the left Cycler and the helmet of the right Cycler).
Why does the animation stop? I had a similar problem before and I solved it by coloring a fixed simple square on a layer and the animation for the motion was really a mask, ontop of it... but why doesn't it work like this?
Feel free to test is yourself- I am open to suggestions. The Cyclers are called "Biker_1" and "Biker_2" and the sub-Symbols are called "Helm", "Koerper" and "Rumpf", for the Helmet, the Body and the "Rump" of the Cycler.
I'm creating an animation kinda like a travel map, x - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - x .where the x's equal the start and the end point, and the dashs are like your direction etc, a good example is if you've ever seen those pirate movies where they have the maps and it shows where they have to go.is if there is a better way to do it than I currently am (Still finding my way around the whole Animation thing - and I'm sure theres an easier way than this!)
At the moment I'm going frame by frame and in adding objects, so for example, in frame one I have my 'x' object, then frame two I pasted the 'x' object plus one 'dash' objects, and so on and so forth, and I have a feeling that doing this is going to take agessss, and I'm sure there must be an easier way! I essentially need the 'x' object to span across ALL of my frames, is there a command or something for this? I'm not too knowledgeable with tweening, but can it be done with that?
ok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.
I have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?
On a horizontal bar, text scrolls from left to right, continuously. The text is a fixed string of city names, and I've made it so that it loops nicely. This horizontal bar with scrolling text is part of a vertical animation, scrolling the bar in and out of view. The vertical tween starts after two seconds. When the vertical tween starts, the horizontal animation has started as well. At the beginning and end of the vertical tween, the horizontal tween starts over. I want it to continu.
I need to do a good animation for school to pass my subject and I have done several animations. I thought maybe I do an animation with different choices. Basically you have the "Home" Screen and then you chose one and an animation is been played. Then when I press another button, a different animations is being played.

The questions are: Is still SVG platform is widely adopted by browsers (without any plug-ins) are at least down the line of 8-10 months, any adoption is expected by browsers? I am a beginner at using Flash, so this may be a dumb question, just a warning.
When I create a motion tween and enter in a value for where I want the symbol to go, it never goes to where I entered. Example, every time I try to get a symbol to go from (308, 238) to (308, 233), it replaces the 233 with 218 and I can't figure out why.

But the graphics cards on these machines are total crap. However, some graphics card models claim to steal memory from the RAM, so in theory if I soup up the RAM I have a really powerful graphics card?

I am setting up a simple tower defense game in AS3 as a learning exercise. I want enemies to follow way points so I was going to make an array of way points, and make that a property of a map object. And a way point was to be an object with an x and a y property (more like a struct).
I want to create a simple desktop admin application for an IOS app that will work with a REST api I've built.Couple of years ago I would go with Flex/Air, just makes it very simple. But since I am butt-hurt with the way Adobe have handled Flash in general, I am looking to write it using some different tool.So far, Java Swing looks rubbish (UI-wise I mean). Others aren't cross platform and often too complicated.
