I just realized I was working on 4:3 when I need to make a 16:9 movie. So I resized the stage, but now everything is on the left side.
I tried turning on "edit multiple frames" and marked the entire stage, layers and frames and moved everything to the centre. Almost everything moved, excepted for material that is on motion tween key frames.
I'm trying to make a Image Gallery for my website by myself. However, although I can read ActionScript rather well, when it comes to writing it myself I tend to hit massive walls. Anyway I've looked at many tutorials and guides and all kinds of stuff but I still can't figure out how to get the coding to do what I want it to do. It isn't a bug because I can't get the foundations of the code down.
What I am envisioning is a initial main menu with several different selections (I.E. 3D models, 2D drawings, doodles, ect. ect. ect.) and when you click one it changes to that specific gallery. The way I thought to do it was using OOP to make a base GalleryEngine class and then implement it for the Main Menu and Image Galleries. I realize that I could do all this in flash but I think if I can get the framework of the code down that it will be easier to modify and switch out images and whatnot.

How do I make it so that the movie clip animations play when I'm editing the root timeline?
View 3 Repliesok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.
View 1 Replieswhat i am trying to do is, put a flash frame by frame movie into my flash web site. So i go to the frame by frame movie and hit Edit- Time line - Select all frames. i then hit Edit- Time line - Copy frames. i switch over to my web site, Create a new layer select the layer and hit Edit - Time line - Paste Frames. and the frames i copied are pasted into order and all my symbols are brought into my library. The problem is than when it is pasted its pasted in the upper left hand corner of the page on top of all my other stuff when i select the the frames of the frame by frame movie and move them to the center of the stage.
It seems to work fine but when i test my movie the first frame will be fine and than some stuff goes back to the original pasted spot and some stuff will stay where i moved it to. my question is. How do you paste the frame by frame movie to the center of the stage so it does not have to be moved at all? or else how do i move all frames and objects to where i want them and not just the first frame?
I am a Flash novice who was asked to do a brief training exercise on importing a simple .swf (3D animation) into Flash. However, I cannot figure out how to center the .swf on the Flash stage. Flash always places it in the top left corner of the stage, and while I can center each individual frame of the 50-frame animation by using the align feature in the properties window, I do not know how to center the entire 50-frame clip all at once. Do I have to use ActionScript to do this? And if so, what is the exact code I would need for this, and what exact procedure would I follow?

Now I want to adjust the position of the whole composition so that it all fits on the stage. Is there a way, like in photoshop with seperate layers, to select every frame and move them all simultaneously?

View 2 RepliesI'm having a problem with importing a layered PSD file into Flash, an issue which i've read about in a number of forums but haven't yet been able to fix.
The content of the PSD file in question is numerous layers of line drawing which I am importing to the Stage and converting to keyframes in Flash. The layers have no white background and are clear but for the lines of drawing.
The problem I'm having is that the first layer of the PSD file imports perfectly, with its quality intact, but all those which follow it are distorted and jagged, and look pretty awful for some reason.
I have experimented with both lossy (set at 100) and lossless compressions to try and improve the layer quality, lossless is marginally better but not the best.
Is it possible to edit a movie clip so it doesnt effect it in another frame? I want to edit the 'ground' in level 2 but so it doesnt change it in level 1. I have tried making a ground2 but with no sucess...
View 2 RepliesI'm referring to the span of selected frames when in "Edit Multiple Frames" mode.
(I've attached an image of the thing I'm talking about.) When I'm editing multiple frames, the multiple frame span "cursor"(?) always follows me around whenever I select a new frame on the timeline. Is there a way to lock it in place or prevent it from constantly changing whenever a new frame is selected?
when i double click a symbol or button to edit it, I get this strange windows-like animation of a chequered rectangle that comes out from where I double click and gets bigger and bigger. Once its as big as the screen I can then edit the symbol.Its like its something to do with vista. If I bring up other applications whilst its doing it the rectangle is always on top and visible over everything. It's like some sort of windows "zoom" animation but for some reason its doesnt work quickly and is painfully slow... 10 seconds or so and when i come out of symbol editing it does the same in reverse.
View 1 RepliesSo im opening it up to the commuity as a programming challenge!!For something which i assumed would be very simple, writting a robust and solid multi turn spinner handle for flash in as3 has become the bane of my life.Feel free to download my attempts so far (attached), which cover the basics of a single rotation, and make it look like im further ahead than i actually am.The difficulty lies with the very specific things I personally need the spinner to do,and the fact its SO HARD to explain..Its actually used to control a piece of animation that is 72 frames long.I need the first "lap" of rotation to send the playhead to frames in the 1-36 range and the second rotation to send it to frames 37-72. So two full spins would take it to the final frame, one full spin would go half way to frame 36.
Problem is the rotator handle needs to be locked at the initial position, so a user can't drag it backwards to start with but can drag it backwards once theyve moved forwards. (think of turning on a hot water tap, many turns in one direction until it stops fully on, then the same turns back again to reach the original start position of fully off)I also need the rotator to be able to be used in anti clockwise and clockwise modes.The ideal is to be able to set the total number of animation frames to be controlled and the number of rotations required to reach the final frame, then have the spinner work everything else out for me.

View 1 RepliesI have a mc with a set of images with fadein fadeout animation. there are two sets namely SetA and SetB with there respective buttons buttonA and ButtonB. Now the mc has two labels corresponding the buttons, when the label is A it should reduce the alpha for ButtonA to 35and vice versa. But the main problem is while tracing the timeline the currentframe remains 1 and does not go any further, so it plays the animation but does not reach the labelB for ButtonB. Is there any way we can trace the timeline keyframes in the mc? Here is the sample code.

I have watched movies of people using the motion editor, I have read books, I have even consulted the cursory help that Adobe offers. Nothing I do generates Bezier handles that i can see, although the motion lines show evidence of bezier-liek modification. What happens seems largely random.
Just as random is the scatter of keyframes. Put a symbol on the stage. Add a motion tween, Move it to a new location: fine, it works. Bend the path, and look in motion editor: suddeenly, dozens fo keyframes. Prod them with the mouse and they distrot, but with no obvios controls. Shift moves them, Cntl deletes them, Alt does god knows what, but evokes the path edit tool from Photoshop.
The documentation on this package is extremely poor. However, self-teaching is impossible as the system is not at all intuitive. If you don't know that you are supposed to toss salt over your left shoulder whilst pushing Alt-Scroll Lock, you don't see what tehbooks describe. But they always leave out that little detail. Adobe's videos are of the same style - too smallto seeproperly, all done at a tremendous pace by a laconic individual with the teaching capabilities of a firing squad.
So: please, ayone, how doo you get the Bezier handles to appear? Where does one find a decent set of documentation? Why does Flash help keep referring to Illustrator?
i am completely new to the whole aspect of flash and dreamweaver etc. and have recently been given a project of editing an interactive CD rom which was produced for a client by an outside company.
I have managed to grab the basics of changing the text and the images and stuff, but when i export it as a .swf flash movie, when i view the cd, all of the slides come on in very quick succession,it is supposed to be the first slide and then you click on a "next" button for each other slide,i know i've messed with the interactive elements somehow but i don't know how, or how to fix them as i haven't got a clue about the interactive aspects to flash.
